With such a huge fan base and support of rich business tycoons like Mukesh Ambani,Vijay Mallya etc IPL is only going to become bigger and bigger.This league has the potential to become the biggest sports league in the world?

The IPL (Indian Premier League) in cricket does seem like a good idea on paper, however with the recent attacks on cricket moving the games to another country (south Africa i think) it might not be as popular as it can be.

With IPL expereincing success in South Africa....one can say that IPLis the next big thing in the world of sports. What is amazing is IPL is a domestic tournament but enjoys the world class response from everywhere. The buzz is that there will be another business tycoon entering the arena.....possibly he will be a part of one of the existing IPL teams. You know what BCCI has a lot lot lot of money much more than many cric boards put together.

Did anyone hear about a potential APL... American Premier League? I don't blame them for wanting to expand the game, but somewhere like Australia or England makes more sense in terms of getting big crowds. And $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Do americans even like cricket?

No. But I guess the ICC crazily want to persuade them to like it with a glitz-and-glamour tournament similar to the IPL.

The whole world knows it that when BBCI flexes muscles, ICC is just a spectator. IPL is BCCI's baby and beleive you me BBCI will ensure that all the rules are bent broken and twisted to suit IPL.

 

Even if you look at just a business aspect it is already a success and with two business tycoons from South Africa showing interest...it is just matter of time that businessmen from other countries buy somke stake in IPL.
