adamschoales
So last summer when John Mayer was on tour he put out a message to all the fans encouraging them to record the concerts and send him the links, which he would then post to his website for all the other fans to download. I was just curious if anyone knows coldplay's stance on audio recordings of their shows. Do they allow it? Do they care? Will they disown you? Anyone have any thoughts? I'm going to the show in Toronto this july and would love to try and make a recording of it. I know nothing about doing so but figured couldn't hurt to try. Maybe we'll get lucky and someone who knows what they're doing will be going.
busybeeburns
I don't think they really care about bootlegs. After all they are in about 4 days time going to do a bootleg of their very own and charge nothing for it!
Ebs757
Yeah they probably don't care much. There were points on the last tour when Chris would tell everyone to take a picture. Last year when I saw them in Chicago; the security guards weren't remotely searching anyone I saw. However, that may not have much to do with the bands position on camera's etc. There are also quite a few audio bootlegs from VLV tour
adamschoales
Okay. I remember when I saw them last time Chris told us to take lots of pictures (it was the toronto show that was filmed for the DVD that never materialized and became the How We Saw The World special). I also know during the john mayer tour last summer he said the only thing to be warry of was the rules of the venue, if they don't allow recording equipment dont bring it. I wonder what the rules of Skydome (or Rogers Centre for the youngins) is like? I also hope someone who knows what they're doing records the show cause I doubt mine will be good quality... PolarMonkey
different artistes tend to have different views on things like bootlegs, really...depends on whether they openly make it known. tho i find that it's the newer/younger generation & tech savvy artistes who tend to openly support/encourage these sort of things. unlike the Metallica bunch... :p
