Hi everyone!

Patricia, your pictures are great ! I've always wanted to visit Amsterdam, it looks like a beautiful city! :) I like the architecture there!

Is the city very expensive? (compared to London for example?)

I'm glad you enjoy my pictures. It's cheaper than London but when you go to a restaurant you'll find them pricy. People over there don't go to restaurants as often as French. Beverages in bars are amazingly cheap though. I may go over there by a few weeks as I'll have the opportunity. To rent a student room is also pricy. It's well worth visiting Amsterdam and its surroundings. Fresh harings are delicious even raw with onions. :P

Thanks for the tips! My next trip will be to London (again :P), but I'd also like to visit this part of Europe! I've already went to Bruges in Belgium, and it's also very nice, but it's not a very big city (I only went 1 day, and it was enough to take a look around). But I liked it!

I've already been to Brugges once. The town is very nice but ... as for me it's a trap for tourists when one thinks you pay ketchup and mustard when you're eating some meat at a restaurant crammed with tourists. I even didn't go on the canal when I thought how much i had to pay for it.

Can I ask what you think of London?, so many people seem to love it but my having lived there for such a long time has given me a different opinion to it.

Well, my answer won't be original as I really love the city! :P I couldn't really eplain why, though. Perhaps it's because it's a city which has history! There's so much to see! London is like Paris, and yet it's different... (I don't know if I'm clear :P)

I'm an English student, and if I had to chose a city to spend a year abroad I would choose London, even if I found life rather expensive there! But with the Eurostar, I wouldn't be very far from my home (I live near Paris).

But perharps my opinion of it would change if indeed I was to live there for a while.. What do you think of it now ?

I love London but when you get there by car, it's better to leave it either outside the city or to leave it nearby a hotel and take the underground. Actually, to drive in London is a nightmare. You just can't find a parking place or you pay a great price for only one hour.

I dislike it, but that's probably due to living there so long and that I don't really like the UK as a country anymore.I could honestly say I prefer the city of my birth over London.

I've only been to Paris for a day and I was much younger and couldn't appreciate it like I would now.I think France as a country overall seems nicer than the UK.

Driving in London can be a very stressful experience, I imagine Paris is similar though:)

aris is VERY similar ! It's a nightmare to drive in the city, especially when the traffic is bad! :P

In Paris, we have a bypass (périphériques) but even there there's much traffic during rush hour. People living nearby the city should take public transportations instead of making worse the traffic. I like taking the underground which is rarely on strike whereas the railways are, to workers dismay!

Greater London has a large ring road around the outside which becomes very congested too.I think the main problem with the central parts of cities like London and I would have thought Paris is the same, is that their very old cities that didn't evolve with the car and some of the very old parts are too small and narrow and just not really for cars.

Actually, they're making another cable-car like in San Francisco to reduce traffic. They've already made one alongside the bypass but not all around it. It's not long enough though. People who commute in this cable-care get to their work much faster as it only stops a few times. The reason why there's so much traffic is because companies are located in the city itself and in the suburbs. Plants are implanted much further at the countryside.
