GrumpyGuts
Afternoon, I'm trying to play the acoustic version of The Scientist. To date, I've been playing the capo version but I want to start with the proper version, the tabs Chris Martin plays in this video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkMGf2_NKvs&feature=related]YouTube - Coldplay-The Scientist (Acoustic)[/ame] Now, these are the tabs I have picked up: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/coldplay/the_scientist_acoustic_ver4_crd.htm These are the exact chords he plays in the video, but what my problem is that the tab says tune top e to an F and play. I have done so using this: http://www.chordbook.com/guitartuner.php ...but the chords sound absolutely terrible. Even in standard tuning, you can still hear that string stand out from the others, highly disturbing. Does anybody know, with conjunction to that tab because it's the right one, the proper tuning for it? F just doesn't sound right or it just could be the tuner I'm using. Thanks Rob
Puzzling
Tune the 1st string down to C (you can easily do this by turning the knob until it sounds like the 1st fret on the 2nd string), and you'll have the correct tuning. You could try playing AROBTTH with this tuning too, it sounds awesome. And I'd add to that tab, that Chris uses his thumb on the 6th string (placed on the same fret as the index finger). GrumpyGuts
Might just be me but it still sounds horrid! Thanks, though. I'l try again later
Puzzling
It's definitely a C :). Do all the chords sound bad, or just those high up the neck? If so, it could be because of bad intonation. Oh, and the C/G in the tab is supposed to be 0 8 9 10 10 8 Welcome to the forum, by the way!
GrumpyGuts
My bad! E was tuned to C#/Db not C. Although it sounds really strange as the B and e sound similar! Thanks
