Strictly FX started touring with Coldplay in April of 2008. It started in Europe, traveled over to the U.S. for a little bit and then went back to Europe.

Currently, the 2009 tour is making it's way back across the U.S. with 4 10-watt full-color air-cooled laser systems, TONS of butterfly UV confetti, and some flare effects.

The show started out with a small confetti effect. As the tour went on, that effect got larger and larger until it has grown into what is possibly the largest confetti effect ever seen in a concert tour. There are 30 confetti machines used in each show pumping out pounds and pounds of butterfly confetti each second. There is also a "have to see it to believe it" confetti drop featuring UV confetti that glows in the dark.

Operator: Mike Hartle

Confetti Wrangler: Brook Blomquist

Wow....thanks :D

I'd like to know what happens to them at the end of the show though. I know they're blown off the stage with a leaf blower but is that it? I hope there's some sort of recycling process.

maybe the oracle knows that!

Batlore :uhoh: :P

Like "good thinking Batman"

Probably in the plastic bags of crazy Coldplayers! :P

This is the same production company that published and altered one of my photos in a magazine without my consent. :( I don't care for them very much right now! But, yes, awesome pictures...

Wow....thanks :D

the butterflies are salvaged by fans after seeing them rain down from the skies during Lovers In Japan...need to make sure that the poor leaf blower(s) doesn't have to work so hard. ;)

but yeah, it's quite a waste of paper...then again any form of confetti/balloon drop is a waste of paper/rubber. it's just that the effect, especially for the colourful butterflies, are really really really impressive & make for a fantastic photo op....imho.
