Then I can only assume Aus has far fewer brainless morons!! Congrats!!:D

Oh they had their 8 years of fame. We just got sick of them quicker.

I saw that eggheads show while on my class trip in scotland. We found it hilarious because unlike pretty much all american quiz shows, there was no audience. They ask the question, they answer it, and then just dead silence if they get the answer right.

Nobody would probably want to say they were in the audience. :laugh3:

No - they'd never be able to show their face in public again!!:P

Are you kidding me? They are the kind of people where it would be the proudest moment of their lives that they got seen on TV waving their "HELLO MUM" or "*Insert Name* IS A PLEB" signs.

Big Brother in turmoil as 10th series loses nearly HALF its audience

The producers of Big Brother are fighting to save the show after losing nearly half their audience.

The first eviction of series 10 on Friday attracted only 1.9million viewers, compared with 4.1million viewers at the same stage last year.

Despite the publicity generated by single mum Saffia's walkout and a budding romance between Sophie and Kris, viewers are turning off in their droves.

The Channel 4 reality show hit its peak in 2002 when the late Jade Goody was a housemate, with the finale attracting a record 10million viewers.

The first episode of the 10th series did pull in 5.1million, but the show is now averaging 2.4million viewers, and only rose above the 3million mark on Day Two.

Producers fear many stalwart fans of the show have boycotted the daily highlights episodes in protest at the axing of the live feed.

Action from the Big Brother house used to be streamed on E4 and on the website, but budget cuts at Channel 4 prompted bosses to cut the costly feed.

Amid protests from fans, host Davina McCall pledged her support over the issue.

Writing to fans, she said: 'I can see you all feel strongly. Will get on to website. Apart from that my hands are tied. So sorry.

'With all this feeling, find a petition and sign it. C4 will listen to feedback I’m sure. Will be getting snippets of what’s happening and will try to keep you posted.'

When the reality show first started in 2000, it started with small viewing figures but grew in popularity over the summer with 9.5million tuning in to see Scouse builder Craig Phillips crowned the first ever Big Brother winner.

The following year, which saw Irish air steward Brian Dowling clinch the title, attracted an average of 4.5million viewers just like the first series, with 8million watching the grand finale.

The biggest year for Big Brother starred Jade Goody, who went on to become the most successful reality TV star ever before her tragic death of cervical cancer in March.

While Jade only came fourth to winner Kate Lawler, the Bermondsey dental nurse was clearly the most popular housemate.

After an uneventful series four, which dropped from an average of 5.8million viewers the previous year to 4.6million, the fifth series was far more popular, with the 9million people tuning into see Portuguese transsexual Nadia Almada clinch the title.

Since 2004, average viewing figures have been steadily dropping between 300,000 to 500,000 every year.

As proof of the show's waning popularity, 2008 winner Rachel Rice was instantly forgotten and swiftly returned to her normal life as a drama teacher in Wales.
