September 22, 200916 yr Well, I used to listen to more skater punk than I'd normally admit to once upon a time... so I'm not really new to the subgenre... it's just a matter of which subgenre exactly- I can't really tell the difference between some of them. Hey Lyric, (sorry I don't remember your name) if you don't mind my asking, where are you from?
September 22, 200916 yr Author ahhh my younger days consisted of the Rankin Family, Great Big Sea, and the Newsboys :P
September 22, 200916 yr Hey Lyric, (sorry I don't remember your name) if you don't mind my asking, where are you from? Not Canada or anything. America. :P
September 22, 200916 yr ahhh my younger days consisted of the Rankin Family, Great Big Sea, and the Newsboys :P:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: Yeah, that would be almost exactly it for me too - soooo much Rankin Family. But I hated the Newsboys. But after I got out of highschool I started playing the early Tony Hawk games and got used to that style of music. There's still a Treble Charger album lurking at the bottom of one of my CD piles somewhere... "now I know how far you'll go...." Not Canada or anything. America. :PAh. :)
September 22, 200916 yr Author ahahha thats hilarious. So conclusion: even though Hey Rosetta! didn't win, just being shortlisted has given them so much attention. I think here in the Atlantic provinces we all know what they're about. But this is a chance for them to be put on the national stage. Having Emily Haines come up and say she likes your band is pretty cool too.
September 22, 200916 yr Testing testing.... yes, we can hear you.... ^For the record I have this issue with throwing old cds I don't want away. I just can't. And yes, great HR publicity. But early early school tomorrow, so I'll bid you all goodnight. :escaping2:  edit: yeah, it's hardcore.

They just wanted to look accepting of all genres or whatever. Yeah.
September 25, 200916 yr Author This is a great interview. Well worth a listen/watch. And also if you guys were upset with the result, at least the money is going to a good cause. They're using the $20 000 to make a benefit record to raise awareness and money for missing aboriginal women.
