40,000 for new teeth!

Featured Replies

So I went to the dentist today, good and bad news. I have to get a tooth removed and probably replaced with an implant. And then he told my long term prognosis will be to get all my teeth replaced over the next 20 years or so costing around 40,000 at least. So at least I can spread it out over 20 years or so but still, I'll have to get one or two teeth surgically removed each year and replaced, that can't be fun.

He said my teeth are so weak and my immune system is to weak for me to have any other option. :\

40,000?:stunned:

That must be hard to swallow....................................

if you give me an extra $10,000 I can create you a robotic head

if you give me an extra $10,000 I can create you a robotic head

For $10,000 I'd gladly remove all his teeth for him!

Weak teeth and a very weak immune system. I guess it's genetic, my whole life I had dental problems, I spent at least 3,500 last year on a lot of work but no matter how much I brush/floss/mouthwash and stay away from sugar, he said I'm screwed...but like I said it won't happen over night but maybe 20 years or so. He's told me many times throughout my life he hasn't seen anyone like me, I get cavities under fillings very quickly and they come out.

It could be worse, It could all have to happen over a few years, I guess I'm lucky and maybe by the time I'm 40, I'll have all new teeth.

Apparently dentures are a bad option because over time your bone caves in around the lost teeth, causing the bone to look funny. With implants it's like having a whole new tooth, that would be much stronger and not allow the bone to shift or cave in where the roots would be.

Deal!

Man, I'm really sorry about that :( I have been complaining about how much I spent on my teeth... It was probably about the same as you for last year... but because I didn't visit a dentist for several years... You have two options now though, we will create your fund-raiser... Or you can go green and be the next George Washington, with wooden teeth :wink3:

I've heard of that before- this one case where the (relatively young) guy's teeth were so brittle that he couldn't even eat soft food without teeth potentially snapping off. It was some rare genetic thing. And implants worked for him.

Sorry to hear that. It can't be fun. Have you tried getting a second opinion?

Mark sees a pun in everything.

Thank Aaron, wanna donate a couple thousand?:)

Maybe my dentist will sell his Jaguar to help me pay for it.

Nick, If I had the cash, I would give it to you man!

I just don't understand why they can't figure out another way to help you without taking out all of your teeth over the next 20 years. Seems like dental technology hasn't really improved that much.

Well modern dental technology has come a long way, the implants are supposed to be very effective. I could go the other route and keep getting fillings and root canals, but I get cavities under filling's and they fall out. I just lost a filling from flossing because of a cavity under the filling. In the long run he said it would be easier to replace the teeth.

Nick, can't they just cap them all or just put crowns on all of them? Sorry to hear that dude.

I didn't even think about that and he didn't mention it.

I just looked it up and it sounds like it might be a good idea.
