oh no, I'm serious, both my grandads genuinely own them.

and I don't have one, I guess I'm just not a hat type of person really.

Neither am I, except for when I'm doing outdoor sports.;)

I have been to Yorkshire, incidentally, but never Barnsley.

^ did you go to Sheffield Uni or Leeds? 'coz I'm thinking of applying to one of the two next year.

and Barnsley's alright for the most part, it's not massive or overly exciting though. it has a bad reputation on account of the accent and stereotypes, but it's no different to any other town around here really. like Sheffield except smaller is the best way I can describe it.

I went to the University of Leeds, quite a while ago now, though still a high-ranking uni I believe. I studied history, though it was more of a mix of international history and politics and sociology. I don't know much about Sheffield uni - only went there for nights out :P

Plenty of older gents wear flat caps down south too, 'joking' about regional stereotypes aside.

I wouldn't be seen dead in one, personally.:dozey:

yeah, my cousin's at Leeds University at the moment, I forget what course though.

and I have worn flat caps on occasion, but as I said I'm about 40 years too young to get away with it. :laugh3:

:annoyed:

no, actually. I've actually never met anyone who owns a ferret. I didn't even know that was a stereotype until you braught it up.

I see what you did there, too.

although to be fair, it's not as bad as Blackpool.

I wouldn't know, as I haven't actually been to either.

However, are you sure you're not just saying that because it's in Lancs??

oh yeah, definately.

I've been to both several times, and Blackpool just gets tackier every time I see it.

Yup. So maybe we'd better talk about Barnsley's favourite "son", Michael "Parky" Parkinson instead.:P

he's a fair legend is ol' Parkinson. I found out recently that my grandad went to school with him, they used to be pretty close friends apparently.
