UT student enters NBA Draft after losing bet

By Kris Budden

"The 2010 NBA Draft is on June 24. Several players from Big Orange Country are hoping to hear their named called, guys like Wayne Chism, J.P. Prince and Bobby Maze.

But there's another Tennessee student entered in the draft, and chances are you've never heard of him.

Raleigh McCammon is a freshman at Tennessee. He coaches a couple local AAU teams. This past season, he made a bet with his players, one that landed him in the NBA Draft.

"One of the kids said, 'Hey, we have a deal, if you make it to the finals of the league, will you enter the draft?' and I said fair enough."

So Raleigh submitted the paperwork along with an impressive resume.

"There's a spot on the official forms for all your stats, and so I had these ridiculous numbers I posted. It was like 30 points and 30 rebounds, and I had an asterisks by each of them. At the end I said these are estimations based on Xbox."

His resume goes on to say he was "so feared on the court that he once got a technical without even speaking".

A couple weeks went by and then paperwork arrived in Raleigh's mailbox accepting him into the draft.

His players have mixed reaction to their coach possibly heading to the pros. Some are very excited, while some just laugh at the idea.

Raleigh is planning on spending the summer in Knoxville coaching a few summer basketball camps. And if he's learned one thing that will make him a better coach, it's to be careful what you're betting."
