Unless it's different in every arena, they just hand you whatever xyloband they grab.

Main tip: have fun. Seriously. Don't just stand there; have fun. You'll probably have people there standing like statues, but ignore them. Coldplay puts on an incredible show, and so should you. :)

What show are you going to?

I would get there early enough to make sure you get a xyloband, probably by 8. They have been running out of them at several shows if you get there too late. I agree, just enjoy yourself. There may be people sitting down in your section but that doesn't mean that you can't stand up and enjoy yourself. They put on the most amazing show you will ever see so really just enjoy every moment. Try not to spend a lot of time taking pics/video and let is all soak in because the concert goes by in a flash. Have fun! :P

I agree with the above...try to put yourself in the moment rather than watching from behind a camera. I am taking my daughter so she is the designated photographer for the night, LOL.

I also am doing things a bit different than when I saw them in 2009. That year I went on here and found out their set list and made a cd of the same order and played it over and over before the show. And because I read all the reviews I knew about the confetti, etc. There were no surprises. It was still an AMAZING show, but this year I decided to not read any reviews or set list. I am just going to wait and be surprised by what they play.

Then after the show I'm sure I'll make a cd of the set list and listen to it over and over to relive the experience. LOL

And don't pay any attention to what others are doing at the show (ie: sitting down). You are there to get the best experience you can, so do what feels right and what will help you have the best time!

I'm sure my daughter will be embarrassed by me at some point during the night...she still hasn't learned how to let go at a concert, but maybe this will be the one that she loosens up at.
