First of all, there are many many types of ships.

Second, shippings have pairing names often.

Third, NOT EVERYONE SHIPS WHAT YOU SHIP.

Fourth, your ships may (may is used very loosely here. The fun of a ship is when it's not official.) be an actual thing called canon. Canon is when it is officially accepted in where that ship is from.
