Was there a change in embedding YouTube videos?

Featured Replies

^ what the title says. You used to be able to copy and paste a YouTube link into a post and it would convert the formatting for you, but this no longer works. Like so:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGzOA6Nqqzk]Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Cave Friend Area Remix - YouTube[/ame]

For some reason the forum just wraps it in standard URL tags.

What I have to do instead is this

[ url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGzOA6Nqqzk]lalala[ /url]

without the spaces =

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGzOA6Nqqzk]lalala[/ame]

Which is a real pain in the bum.

So is this a glitch or was this a change made recently?

...Well, poop. It's working now. Sometimes it doesn't work though and embeds it as a link and the only way to get it to work is by doing the second method. Well, I suppose this thread can stand for a workaround for those times now.

I always leave out the http:// part, that seems to work.

the only times i seem to have a problem with it is if it says https:// instead of http://  so next time you have that problem, check for that s and if it's there, just remove it :)

No changes have been made, just the http url needed (but not in the format youtu.be)

However, if the video owner doesn't want it embedded, it won't work in my experience

I just noticed that this seems to be the problem... is this just a permanent thing with the feature or can it be fixed

I'll do a bit of digging, however I suspect secure (https) pages will remain secure, therefore unembeddable.

I thought it better not to open a new thread, but how do I embed a tweet in a post, rather than just copying its content? I'd like to use this in the review.

Thanks in advance and sorry if there's already a thread about that I didn't find :)

If you want to use this feature regularly I will need to upgrade your account. is it just for the review?

It'd be for the review only, yes, as I doubt I'll post tweets here frequently. I'll just copy the content in the reviews. Thank you, anyway!
