September 15, 201313 yr Who to win? And what no token jazz record hardly anybody has heard of? ;) Arctic Monkeys 'AM' David Bowie 'The Next Day' Disclosure 'Settle' Foals 'Holy Fire' Jake Bugg 'Jake Bugg' James Blake 'Overgrown' Jon Hopkins 'Immunity' Laura Marling 'Once I Was An Eagle' Laura Mvula 'Sing To The Moon' Rudimental 'Home' Savages 'Silence Yourself' Villagers 'Awayland'
September 15, 201313 yr Author Probably the first year in a while I've heard all 12 albums Smart money would be on Bowie, but I would put a £1 on Laura Mvula to be a surprise winner, you know what the mercury judges are like...
September 15, 201313 yr Yeah, they'd probably rule Bowie out just because it would be too much of an obvious choice, sadly. I'm undecided between Jon Hopkins and Rudimental now.
September 16, 201313 yr Apperantly My Bloody Valentine's mbv is banned because they released their album independently so it's not even considered a real album. This Mercury Prize is beyond stupid...

October 31, 201312 yr That's so lame. Is this a pension fund or a "prestigious award"? You think they'd get enough from the sponsors to cover costs. Obviously these things cost money to organise and stage but surely they can generate enough funds from sources outside the actual artists? The award is well known enough.
