A QUESTION!

  yep yep. we bought the whole continent! well, half of it anyways! so what's your point?

actually Mexico gave-up control of California and NM, after the American-Merican war, when american army marched all the way south to Mexico City...think that was in 1846, 10 years after Texas independence. Then, Texas merged and became a State of the U.S.

And France sold it's land to the U.S. after the black/slave revolt in what was then called Saint Dominique and what is now called the Republic of Haiti. That was on Jan 1, 1804 (yep, Haiti celebrated 200 years of independence on Jan 1, and is the oldest black replublic in the world!). The slaves beat the cr!p out of the French first, and then the Brits and Spaniards who tried to capture the island.

Seeing how it lost its most profitable colony, and lost as the most powerful army of that time, France basically gave up on the New World and sold it's stuff. Not to mention that it needed the money to fight against and keep up with the Brits.

Russia sold Alaska much later, in the 1870s...it was something even Americans didn't want at that time (no idea of oil being there), but they bought it to keep the Russians out, i guess...

We bought Alaska from Russia. France offered us the Louisiana purchase and we took it.

Was it like long time ago?? Because for the golden rush and all the that, Alaska already belonged to you........ and Louisiana I can guess it was when you were getting your inpdependence in what 1700 or a bit more maybe???? And what happened with Puerto Rico?????

When Texans gained independence from Mexico, They became known as the 'Lone Star Republic', and not part of America, as I recall. Came up with the idea though of Americans annexing Texas so they could keep out of conflict with Mexico after gaining independence.

Puerto Rico was a possesion of us after defeating the Spanish in the Spanish American war.

and Louisiana I can guess it was when you were getting your inpdependence in what 1700 or a bit more maybe????

Nope, after. Should I explain our independence?

didn't you read this?

  • Author

yes, but it didn't gave me like a context of what was going on; they are events but I don't know what happened before or after [well I know when Colon disvcovered America in 1642, but I forgot what happened afterwards!]

Our independence.... After us colonists under British control helped defeat the French in the French & Indian War across various scattered parts of Canada and lower, Great Britain was deeply in debt and demanded that the Colonists pay taxes to help preserve the Empire they fought for. The Colonists were outraged over this violation of their so called, 'rights'. They began boycotting goods coming from Britain into the Colonies.

I will explain this over a few posts.

Wasn't then when Britain said that their colonies could only buy products produced by them???

 You knwo why I ask this instead of looking it through the net or in books? Because it's so muh easier to ask someone else to explain it for you. You don't receive meaningless, technicall explenations, and so......... but anyway, Thanks! :D
