But if I could have naturally straight hair, I would love my life.

Same happened here! I cut it short last year, but it looked so horrific that I had to straighten it everyday until it grew a bit more so it looked decent. People compliment me a lot too, others just mock my hair.

I just had to accept it and live with it.

Dude, my hair is as straight as it gets, and I'd kill for curly hair. :(
