Now then, now then. Chris Martin has done a bit of Jimmy Saville-style fixing it for his family, according to The Sun today. The Coldplay frontman introduced his dad Anthony to Grease star Olivia Newton John while the band toured Down Under, satisfying a lifetime ambition for his old man.   Chris said: “When I was a kid my dad would make me listen to Olivia Newton John in the car all the time. He’s always been a massive fan and the main reason he comes on tour with us to Australia is on the off

Coldplay Front man Chris Martin stepped down the from stage and behind the bar in one of Auckland's hippest bars to make cocktails. After Thursday night's concert for 12,000, Martin went out on the town with kiwi support singer Hollie Smith.   The pair have struck up a strong friendship, and her boyfriend TV and radio presented Clarke Gayford says they plan to keep in touch. The band signed a thank-you card for Smith and gave her an expensive champagne before the group headed out to Mea Culpa on

In another extensive interview published online today, The Daily Mail has been writing about the inner workings of Coldplay from their Bakery/Beehive headquarters in North London. In this remarkably candid interview, Coldplay discuss the trappings of fame and Chris Martin even goes as far as discussing his relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow. Other topics include the threat from Justin Bieber – and why they might be about to call it a day (we bet they don't, but NME like to stir shit up so its all

Chris Martin on Piano or Guitar? It's a tough question but it's one which has been discussed within the Coldplay community. The lead singer of Coldplay has rocked out a countless number of stadiums across the world, with his guitar, during songs like 'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face' and 'Charlie Brown'. He's also penned some of the band's greatest hits on the Piano, with the likes of 'Clocks' and 'Fix You'.   Based on the discussion, Piano is slightly ahead of Guitar in popularity! (Thanks to '

U2 has maintained their longevity with well-crafted songs and a great live show. They exposed themselves on the world's stage in 1985 on Live Aid showing that anthemic quality they still possess. They became the biggest band in the world with 1987s sadly beautiful album The Joshua Tree and Rocks Hottest Ticket on the cover of Time magazine.   They reinvented themselves with 1991s Achtung Baby incorporating industrial and electronic influences creating another masterpiece and arguably their best

If the members of U2 [pictured] are experiencing Vertigo these days, it's because they're looking down from an impressive height.   Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, an outspoken admirer, notes that "of all the bands that we loved as kids, they’re the only ones still going and still going great. They’re a towering presence, and to us they represent kind of a peak."   Read the full article here

Digg are reporting that Chris Martin turned out for a charity soccer game in Kenya last week to raise awareness for the environment. Martin, who was at the time rehearsing with Coldplay in Spain, took part in a five-a-side match against Masaai tribesmen.   The event was organized by environmentalist Jeremy McClintock, DUFFF and The Right Path Party.   Meanwhile, the Jeremy Mcclintock website reports on Sir Alain Shipmount, Co-founder and Secretary of DUFFF, and one of the UK’s leading creative c

A celebrity-frequented restaurant was ordered to pay £15,642 after a child fell down an open cellar hatch and cracked his head open.   Owners of E and O in London's Notting Hill pleaded guilty to two breaches of health and safety laws. They admitted a delivery hatch had been left open in the pavement outside the restaurant.   A five-year-old boy suffered a one-inch cut to the head when he fell 10 feet into the cellar, according to Kensington and Chelsea Council which brought the prosecution. Coldplay's thrifty habit has the Mirror in stitches, judging by the article in their online newspaper this morning. It reads:   We couldn't help cracking up when we heard Coldplay secret to their success - sewing. They've sold 34.6 million albums and top the rock rich list, but the thrifty lot don't care about their image or waste their wonga on designer threads.   Instead, the millionaire rock stars like nothing better than getting behind their sewing machines for a good stitch and bitch. And C

Most of us know that Chris is an avid U2 fan and . The Coldplay frontman was spotted at U2's concert in Los Angeles last night, standing in the general admission section! Photo's of Chris are popping up online, from bewildered U2 fans.   According to a fan on the U2 forums, Chris Martin was not holding back and rocking out to one of his favourite bands:   Chris Martin was on the GA floor about 10 ft from us rocking out and I do mean rocking out to U2, more respect for Chris now he truly is

Chris Martin has ruled out launching a solo career. He insisted that he is committed to remaining in Coldplay and would only release a solo record under exceptional circumstances. "It would probably mean I've been dumped by my wife and I desperately need the money," he told The Sun.   "Hell would not only have to freeze over but be skated over and completely closed up. The Pope would have to declare it didn't even exist. I cannot think of anything worse."   Martin confirmed that he has already s

CHRIS MARTIN has finally paid attention to warnings about his horrendous barnet, report The Sun.   The COLDPLAY frontman had been sporting a 1970s Afro that made him look worryingly like KEVIN GODLEY from 10CC. But as my picture of Chris in London shows, it’s curl over at last. He has changed his style for the winter and gone for a close crop.   I doubt a celeb crimper has been employed a la Beckham, charging £300 for a No2 all over. No, it looks to me like he went for a five quid job at his l

In an interview with Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin said the reason they hadn’t toured to Australia for three years was a matter of perfection.   “For us, touring in your country is kind of exotic, so we feel like it’s kind of a treat. So we wait until we feel like we deserve to go to Australia. We don’t like to play in Australia until we’ve perfected our concert.”   Those fans lucky enough to have scored a ticket, and who live within access of the four tour cities

Arcade Fire aren't playing Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre from Feb. 24 to 28, as speculated on the internet on Friday, but it's a fact that frontman Win Butler got into a minor scuffle with security guards at a concert in England.   Arcade Fire did, however, play their fourth straight show in London on Thursday night, and Butler got involved in a minor dispute with security officials when he extended the group's concert in Porchester Hall by performing an encore in the venue's foyer.   Butler

If you were on your way to the O2 on Monday night and thought: "That bloke reading the Mirror's 3am column looks vaguely like Chris Martin"- then it probably was!   Because the Coldplay star decided to snub the chauffeur-driven limo and jump on the Jubilee Line to go to his own gig. He told the Mirror: "I was reading your column on the way here on the Tube. I like getting the Tube sometimes to walk into our own gig. You get charged up from the atmosphere. No one recognised me. I just bought a Mi

Coldplay is back on the road this summer on the final leg of its huge "Viva La Vida" tour. Just days before the group landed in America last month, singer Chris Martin gave the San Francisco Chronicle a call to talk confetti butterflies, stage fright and the totally bonkers idea to give everyone who attends the shows a free copy of a new live album, 'LeftRightLeftRightLeft'. The following article appears on page R - 14 of the Chronicle:   Q: You've been on the road quite a lot this year. Are you

Lucky Coldplaying members Sarah, Felix and Mark met Chris Martin last night at Travis’ Astoria gig in London.   Up on the balcony, the Coldplay singer Chris Martin could be seen pogoing, along with everyone else, to Why Does It Always Rain on Me? And down on the stage, Travis approached their task with an unforced enthusiasm and vigour that was quite unlike the more measured performances of even a year ago, when it still seemed as if the stakes were that much higher.   Read the coldplayer accoun

Chris Martin has apparently revealed the person who leaves him most starstruck is Stephen Fry.   The Coldplay frontman is no stranger to A-list company - he is married to Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and counts Madonna and hip-hop star Jay-Z among his friends - but revealed to The Independent that he's humbled in the presence of the British actor and comedian.   Chris said: "I went through a period of thinking, 'Oh, I won't say anything to Stephen Fry if I bump into him because he doe

Chris Martin is sporting a cast on his foot after reportedly injuring himself in a surfing accident. Chris has been spending time in the Hamptons area of New York, hitting the waves in between recording sessions for the band's upcoming album.   But his board time is said to have been hampered after he hurt his right ankle last week and he has been photographed wearing a cast while he recovers from the injury, according to The Sun.   The Sun wrote: "It looks like Chris is a happy man at the mome

[excerpt from this month's Rolling Stone]   One fine day' — there's a funny story about that," Brian Eno says with a smile, referring to one of the 11 songs on Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, the new, gleaming art-pop album the British producer and occasional solo artist has made with his friend, ex-Talking Heads singer-guitarist David Byrne.   Sitting at a table across from Byrne in the latter's Lower Manhattan office, Eno says that at a point early in the record's extended birth, he

More pictures are in the gallery here.   Coldplay frontman Chris Martin took daughter Apple Blythe, 4 ½, for quite a ride in London on Wednesday! The duo braved the fun slide at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, staying bundled up and bright-eyed. Chris accompanied Apple and son, Moses, 2 ½, plus a group of the children’s friends. Since we exclusively reported that Hype Williams was working with Coldplay's new video for Paradise, Williams's first with the band since the official Viva la Vida shoot back in 2008, MTV have all but confirmed the collaboration with an interview with Chris Martin during the Austin City Limits festival this past weekend. They also hint at a new face appearing in the video. Here's what they had to say:   Coldplay already told MTV News that they decided to roll the dice and go with the inscrutable

Before Coldplay's outstanding concert at the Global Citizen Festival on Saturday, their frontman attended a talk on a whole range of spiritual subjects, including yoga, karma & tranquility meditation. Chris explained how the latter influences his concentration at live concerts, while we know the singer has been practicing Yoga for a very long time.   Christa, from our moderating team was in attendance at the New York talk and she gave us a summary of what happened:   "Ok, so I am going to
