I thought, smoke can cause diseases such as lung cancer. An X-ray is a picture by which you can see straight through someone. Air-filled tissues like the lung will appear transparent in the X-ray and thus black, and if you have a disease such as cancer, tuberculosis, pneumonia or many more, you will see a so-called shadow on the lung where there is denser, unhealthy tissue. This shadow is actually white, so White Shadows :) OK now lets continue :) And my guess is Parachutes !

You are (@RealRece already mentioned a possible connection in his post, can you think of a specific example ?) So you take a picture of something you see + You say you see straight through me (@iamsue mentioned ghosts, but not only ghosts are transparent if you just take the right picture....) Then connect the two "things" to the answer....

OK, I will reveal something: White Shadows is the right answer (see, @Nie, you're not alone in making elaborate riddles that get guessed immediately ! ;)), but the explanation from @iamsue is not the reasoning I thought of. Let's hear what @RealRece has as a reasoning... the reasoning I want to hear is a very specific one and I am curious if anyone can guess it :)

I did not know the poem before (I had to look the poem up in the internet, although I thought of All Your Friends right away when I saw that the city is called Ypres because i had heard of the WWI battle sometime ago) so your riddle was a really good one because it made me (and others?) learn something ! Without the internet I could not have gotten it that fast. OK maybe I am missing something here, but why do people associate a "hammering" sound at the beginning with soft songs like We Never Change or Fun ? Maybe my own perception is weird or the wording i used was not good - but i am just genuinely surprised at the answers :D Anyway, it starts with some heavy thumps and then look at Emoji1 from your screen, and finally give me Emoji2 over this
