I ran away

Thanks all ! This evening I will attempt to rescue the chorus part and add in the missing vocals :) I kept adding reverb because it made the individual vocals sound better, but I also realized in the meantime that when you layer them it has too much total reverb now ! The only problem is, I don't know how to delete the reverb again...hm. Will try to make it less !

I have gone through the entire discography in my head and I can't find anything that would fit. I think I need a clue to move forward :-/

I don't know what people say, but I wanted to say that I actually don't like most of Radiohead's discography, and especially In Rainbows and The Ling of limbs. I feel they got kinda carried away with that experimental ambition, but I am glad to see they have come back with MSP.

Agree, it bothers me too! Three different Chris and at least two different Will can be heard. I may need to work intensely on that part again, at the risk that the choir becomes thinner (some timings are just so off within a line that it is really hard to match them...by the way, I'm just saying this as a fact - I know it's difficult when you sing, and I am not criticiing anyone ! You all were amazing !!)

Thanks ! You did a great job with your singing, that's why I put it very prominently in the mix :) Do you mean the voices don't match sound-wise or timing-wise ? Is there a specific point which you would change ? Timing was unfortunately not homogeneous, especially int the last two lines of the choir part...

Listened to it today, and wow, what a good album. Radiohead is back and has proven they are still up to it !! Miles better than GS or AHFOD. I hope Coldplay takes inspiration from there. By the way I agree that Thom's voice sounds the same ! It's sad that Chris's voice has declined due to so much strain.... :(

Today I listened to Radiohead's new album, their LP9. I think it is a really good album, I love the soundscape and it sounds entirely different from today's mainstream. So Radiohead showed that after so many years, they are still something. Of course Coldplay has always been more mainstream than Radiohead, but seriously, why can't Coldplay pull off an album like that ? Hope Chris listens to it and asks himself again if Coldplay wants to continue going down the pop drain into meaninglessness and oblivion or get themselves together and produce something significant.

I Ran Away - begins with drumming

Yes I am using Audacity. I know the basic options of fading, echo, delay, etc. Will check either this evening or tomorrow evening how it goes ! On the bright side, it will probably not be worse than the Up&Up Radio Edit LOL :P

My cutting skills are horrible but I will try my best :-/ There is already an audible transition with the current version though, cause I had to fuse the instrumental version with the original towards the end (the instrumental sounds a bit thin at the end because changes made to remove the vocals apply there too), so I will just exchange one transition for another. Hope it will sound better even !

Well we can keep a full version for distribution among ourselves, but right now I am concerned about the main version - the one in the video we will send to the band. Only one version will be made public, don't wanna have confusion there....The part we can cut out is about 34 secs, by the way.

I need your opinion on something important, friends ! I am currently thinking of cutting out the bridge of the song and proceeding with the final chorus (the one with our own lyrics) right after the second chorus. Here is why: I'm generally against all kinds of shortening/editing songs, BUT the band or other people like Anchorman or Phil and Debs who may get to watch it are busy people and probably only have limited time for stuff like that. Everybody knows that the second half of I Ran Away is just instrumental, so nobody expects another vocal part at the end ! It even happened to me when I casually listened to our cover that I was startled when suddenly a chorus came in at an unexpected place. Hence, it could be that said person(s), having only little time ro spare, closes the video halfway through because he doesnt expect another vocal part and thus misses out on the most important message !! This is why I propose to cut the bridge. What are your opinions ? Please everybody give feedback, I don't wanna stand alone with this difficult decision !
