What do you think about the future of Coldplay?
If only I had a guitar xD Yeah I know what you mean but Spies and High Speed blew me away :) (So Indie and spaced out) Speaking of Indie Chinese Sleep Chant is an stellar job at that genre. Jonny's playing is so drugged out it makes the song what it is. I really love his work on X&Y (Space Rock, more effects and he started playing harder hitting stuff) and everything post Viva especially Mylo and GS. But have a huge soft spot for his work Parachutes and AROBTTH. He just writes amazing chiming shimmering lines. And his edgier stuff is awesome. When I learned he used a Les Paul on Violet Hill I was blown away. And his sound on 42 and Major Minus is so driving and dark. HLH has some of his most colorful and expressive playing IMO. And the sound he contribute s to Strawberry Swing, X&Y and Always In My Head is euphoric. I'm sorry if I fanboyed there :p

What do you think about the future of Coldplay?
Thank you for responding with a well thought out rebuttal. Trust me its hard to find people who will respond beyond Cause they just should. Anyway I believe you make some great points however I truly believe you always want to change/be different from how you were. And that applies to all people from all walks of life. And with them they just wanted to change. Maybe it was to appeal to the masses. Or possibly from their individual lives and their experiences. That and they grew up. Trust me when I was younger I was much different than I am now. I was more confrontational and now Im the middle ground the mediator. Yeah they shouldn't have just thrown away the formula in favor of this new sound. However I think they are just having fun and enjoying themselves. I always think of The Beatles when I think of Coldplay. Not musically to an extent but more toward how they always change. Think of it this way after The Beatles released Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour (Very colorful experimental affairs) they moved onto The White Album (A very original sound stark affair) I think the boys will make a change like that as well. They will look back say well that was a mess and probably try to get back to their roots. Who knows if they continue they might deliver us their Abbey Road some day. But in the mean time the mess they are making is beautiful at some points and intriguing for the most part.

A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)
As Roger Waters once said "Critics will scoff F*** em' "

What do you think about the future of Coldplay?
So you expect them to sound the same as when they where in their 20s when they are approaching 40? Also have you ever heard of the artist's dilemma?

Hymn for the Weekend
Perhaps he likes R&B or he just likes a good beat. IDK My mom is weird in this repect too.

What do you think about the future of Coldplay?
I'll tell you one thing a Parachutes part 2 or AROBTTH the sequel is not in the works! Just look at the result that is X&Y in that attempt! I believe they should stick with their new sound to a degree and throw in some of the old magic. Cause let's be honest them going back to their original sound would be a suicidal move musically/artistically. But incorporating it more into their work would be great :)

X Marks The Spot [HIDDEN TRACK]
I swear this track really has polarized the fans! They succeeded in one aspect xD

X Marks The Spot [HIDDEN TRACK]
That would be critics and to some extent the public. But yes they are pop at this point. Alt is a very different sound. This album was Alt, Pop, R&B, Indie, Funk, Disco and Hip-Hop. And what's so wrong with Pop The Beatles were Pop so what. The Stones and The Who were Rock. Doesn't really matter in the end cause it's all great. This is why genres are a curse they create boundaries for music. Trapping the bands in them to a set sound. And after all its just air moving around that is pleasing to the ear. I digress but a lot of bands try to break those conventions by being multiple genres or switching it up constantly.

Kaleidoscope
Actually The Beach Boys when they were led by Brian Wilson in the late 60s was inspired by The Beatles and vise versa. He made Pet Sounds they wrote Sgt Peppers then he tried to make SMiLE which due to numerous factors drove him to insanity. Its very sad considering he was such a taleted person. Watch Love&Mercy for more on him great semi-biopic :)

X Marks The Spot [HIDDEN TRACK]
How is Always In My Head in any way bad? I just love Jonny's work on that one. And well everything about it.

Kaleidoscope
True that XD Love the song you're referring to BTW

Hymn for the Weekend
What is "fake percussion" anyhow? xD This song is great and is very gutsy of them. Anyway I grew up on R&B as a kid. So to me I think they slayed it :)

Up&Up
Id be lying if I said I didn't get teary eyed listening to this track. Beautiful song sure its not as explosive as the live version. Well actually Jonny and Noel kill it. For an studio version this song fits well and ends this album on a glorious note. 10/10

So true its an absolute shame X&Y is considered bad by them. I mean yes it is flawed but the pressure cooker that is the record industry and public opinion can do that to you. But it still has its moments and areas of beauty. But because of the above it is not at all cohesive. The fact they wrote 60 something different songs and wrote 2 other versions of the album testifies to this. I wish they had more time but who knows what would have been the result. Let alone if that was even possible. Or what would have become of them. I think with that album it broke them. And from then on they are really trying to make up for it. With mixed results to that end. What If is really the most descriptive of that era if you think about it.

Warning Sign still gives me massive feels and used to be my favorite song. Now its like a old friend I visit every once and awhile. And when I told my friends that I loved that song or sang along to it. Back then Id get that dismissal.

Ah I get you and understand. They really are classics now rightfully so! Sorry if I came off as rude or anything :) But for me I know people who dismiss Parachutes and AROBTTH as utter garbage but love MX and GS. Like I said it all goes hand in hand with perspective. Anyway I just found the term interesting. And I know the feeling but they used "whiny bullshit" for me xD
