actually it's the last british single from a band in ten years! after the spice girls also james blunt (2006) and leona lewis (2008) scored the first position (but they are obviously solo artists) and i've read that the last british rock band to score a number one in the us chart did it in 1991! we're talking about seventeen years folks ^__^
