The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I second that. Muse was an instant hook for me as well. I remember hearing Bliss and I'm like, shit that's awesome. Then like a year later I bought all their albums and now they are one of my favs of all time. Radiohead was a little different. I heard Paranoid Android a few times, so I bought OK Computer... then it took me like a year to get really into them. Kid A blew my mind though, and now they're also one of my favorites. I see brilliance in both of their styles, and I don't really see them as comparable anymore. Maybe Showbiz / OK Computer, but they're both much past those styles now.

Radiohead
Ah I'm listening to Morning Bell with my bass all the way up and I think my ears are gonna bleed... lol Such deep bass... this song is so mesmerizing, especially Thom's unintelligible syllables towards the end. Way better than the Amnesiac version.

Since you're so emphatic about "professional" reviews, how can you think your review is even close to important then?

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
How about a review of the album? Muse - Black Holes and Revelations Release Date: Jul 11, 2006 Label: Warner Bros. Genres: Rock Number Of Tracks: 11 Black Holes & Revelations is a powerful, upbeat epic album that takes the band's music to a whole dimension. Sound: 10 Lyrics: 10 Impression: 10 Overall rating: 10 Users rating: 8.4 Sound: Well, it's been a long, long three years. What have Muse been upto in that time? A lot, surprisingly. Well, touring a lot. For the few of us at Earls Court, we've heard parts of Take A Bow. For the few of us in Italy recently, we've heard various songs, namely a lot of the new album. But what about the rest? Muse were playing a few songs in 2005, but with a much rawer, heavier sound than found on the album. Muse decided to take a step back, in terms of the darkness found on Absolution, and then a step right, and then another step, and so on. You get the idea. The result is a musical blend of songs. We have spanish guitar (Hoodoo, City Of Delusion, Knights Of Cydonia), we have piano ballads (Take A Bow, A Soldier's Poem and Starlight kinda), and we have unusual songs that might have fitted into other bands repertoire, (Map Of The Problematique, which seems to be Muse melded with Depeche Mode, and Supermassive Black Hole), and we seem to have classic Muse (Map again, KOC again, and Invincible). Taking just one track, Invincible, this seems to showcase what Muse do best. They use bass, drums, lyrics, vocals, synth and guitar to amazing effect. And, to use a pun, together, they're invincible. Yes, shoot me if you want to. I still say that the album is an awesome blend, and yes, even SMBH fits on nicely. And there's UFO noises on the album. How cool is that? // 10 Lyrics: The lyrics are a change from the first two Muse albums, but some of the lyrics could have come from Absolution. And some lyrics have changed. This album is more politically themed, "During the struggle, they will pull us down, but please, please let's use this chance to turn things around" as an example from Invincible. "There's no justice in this world and there never was." from A Soldier's Poem. Actually, the second half of the album, and I use second half to describe everything from ASP to describe the second half as politically themed. Assassin especially. Matt uses his normal range of voice, i.e. falsetto squawks, normal singing, and slightly higher pitched singing, throughout the entire album. Knights Of Cydonia showcases his talents especially when performed live as he uses his entire range of vocal talents in it. // 10 Impression: It's easily the best album of the year. All the songs are pretty damn awesome depending on your mood. Especially if you're feeling in a bit of a flamenco mood. If anyone stole this album, I would skin them alive and then chuck them through a jet engine and then reclaim the album. And then destroy their town. Just 'cause this album is that damn good. // 10 http://ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/compact_discs/muse/black_holes__revelations/index.html

Pitchfork bases everything off of Radiohead. After all, they gave Kid A 10/10 and named it the best album of the decade, while they gave stuff like A Rush of Blood to the Head a 5.1/10. :dozey:  I bet their review of Black Holes and Revelations will be low... I haven't seen them give out anything higher than 6/10 except to Radiohead.

As everyone can see by my last.fm table, Knights of Cydonia's on repeat. lol I love this song soooooo much. It's grown on me even more since yesterday. It's not very hard to not download the album though... but that could be because I have no idea where to find the leaks.... nobody tell me please. :D

You think Apocalypse Please is depressing? Apparently, you've never heard it. While, I as a Radiohead fan as well, do find Let Down and Climbing Up the Walls very dark and depressing... well basically the whole album has a melancholy tone to it. At least Absolution was quick and exciting in most places. OK Computer has... Electioneering? Of course, OK Computer is a far superior album, but in a much different way.

Hmm so now I've heard a decent quality version of the Knights of Cydonia radio edit... Impressive. Not sure about it's spot as album finisher, but it's definitely a nice song. I'm loving the bridge. Very Queen-like.

Yeah, it's July 11 in the States  Oh well, at least that means I'll be home when it comes out, unlike July 3.

OK Computer? Have you ever listened to MUSE? I will admit that Transatlantic Drawl does have some elements found in MUSE's songs, but that was just over a month before Origin of Symmetry, when MUSE already had much material. Here's some irony. I downloaded a song "Radiohead - Cuttooth" but in reality, it's actually a misnamed copy of Muse - Con-Science. How ironic?

As a fan of both Radiohead and Muse, I see no comparison besides high vocals... There are no two songs alike between the groups.

Anyone have the studio version of Knights of Cydonia yet? It's supposed to be revealed very soon if it hasn't been already.

Ah I officially like Mars more than Jupiter now. Still, Snow ((Hey Oh)) is my favorite song.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. I wouldn't say he carried them through their first 3 rounds, but he was a tremendous asset that will be very difficult to replace. The battle's all uphill from here... :\

NHL Stanley Cup 2006
Fuck. You might as well give Carolina the Cup now. What is with them and causing other players to get hurt? :veryangry:

The official **KEANE** thread
I'm only gonna listen to Atlantic and Is It Any Wonder? cause those are the only 2 I've heard so far. Plus, the quality versions I have aren't that great. (Atlantic's pretty good, but IIAW is terrible)

Nice job. It would be 1000000^99999 times cooler if that were Ryan Miller on the right though.

I think it's more of a Moby "18" style, but yeah REM comes to mind too. I'll decide for sure when I get a look at the CD itself. ...and the music of course. :)
