Chris's story from Darien Lake about Amsterdam: "yeah, listen... we, we took the uh... 'cause you know we don't often--normally we play in...like industrial states and uh... places with factories and the smell of burning rubber and we never normally get to play next door to...like... all this stuff-- these rides and everything. So uh..... anyway... so today we came and we saw all this stuff and said 'wow', not only do we get to play here, we also get to go play here. And uh, anyway we went on one ride and one ride is enough, and this song is very appropriate if you're in the middle of a ride and you think you're gonna die in about... 2 seconds. This is called Amsterdam. Ok? Well... oh uh and I'm gonna get in trouble if I forget any lyrics, but please, give me a slight break, because we haven't been playing a lot of that one." Yeah, so it's about death. If it had a lyrical name, I would call it "On the End" though I do love the word Amsterdam now. ^_^

- Did Ashlee Simpson rip off Coldplay?
- Guess the song!
It was A Whisper actually. ;)- Which Covers of the AROBTTH singles represent who?
Chris was also the easiest for me. Once you know that it's looking up from below his ribcage, it's quite easy to tell who it is.- Which Covers of the AROBTTH singles represent who?
According to Wikipedia. In My Place "The single cover features guitarist Jon Buckland, drawn by Solve Sundsbo." Clocks "The single cover depicts singer Chris Martin with his hands placed on his head. The drawing perspective is looking up from his ribcage. The cover was created by Solve Sundsbo." The Scientist "The single cover features drummer Will Champion, drawn by Solve Sundsbo." God Put A Smile Upon Your Face "The single cover features bassist Guy Berryman, drawn by Solve Sundsbo." They are some sort of 3D representations which have been skewed in various places. I'm not sure how he did it, but they look cool. It should be obvious that he also created the art for the album A Rush of Blood to the Head.- Guess the song!
For You "ladder up to the sun"- Guess the song!
Correct. Swallowed in the Sea "life that comes"- Piano Part in Fix You?
E# = F If you mean D#/Eb, that's correct. I wasn't near a keyboard when I wrote that so it was from memory.- Low to be the fourth and final single from X&Y...??
Talk- Coldplay becoming over produced?
I love X&Y. However, some times the songs just seem to thick. Some songs sound thick (White Shadows, Square One) but are actually pretty simple, which I enjoy a lot. However, some songs are a little overdone. What If, for example, should have stayed a piano ballad, not go all out with synth and overdriven guitar. Low is a good rock song, but there's again too much synth and orchestration. Til Kingdom Come is possibly the best song on the album. It's got that Sparks/Yellow/Green Eyes/AROBTTH beauty to it without going overboard on background noise. There's also the bit of piano. Chris says they aren't using piano on their 4th... which is stupid; pianos are what made Coldplay popular (in the US that is). I noticed that they are straying away from using it. On Parachutes: Don't Panic (backup), Trouble (main), We Never Change (backup), Everything's Not Lost (main) On Rush of Blood: Politik (main), The Scientist (main), Clocks (main), Daylight (main), Warning Sign (both), AROBTTH (backup), Amsterdam (main) On X&Y: What If (main), Fix You (backup), Speed of Sound (backup), The Hardest Part (main), Swallowed in the Sea (backup), Til Kingdom Come (backup) Rush of Blood clearly had the most outstanding piano music, which IMO, led it to be their best album. X&Y was lacking in good piano; What If lost it's front piano to overwhelming synth and guitar, The Hardest Part isn't a popular song. If they want better albums, they need to go back to piano more. Next, there's the deal with acoustic guitar ballads. Parachutes had Sparks, Yellow, and We Never Change. AROBTTH had Green Eyes and Rush of Blood; X&Y had A Message and Til Kingdom Come, though A Message is synth heavy at times. They need more! I don't know why they stopped doing them like they used to... they are relaxing and peaceful as well as some of their best material. I guess that's my opinion of what they need more of. I'll have to take Chris' word that their 4th will be their best, but if it's all heavy and dark without pianos, I don't think it will be good at all.- Most underappreciated album tracks
Underappreciated? Not for me; I basically worship this song! ^_~ As for the public, I'm glad it's underappreciated. It avoided a Fix You-like fate.- Low to be the fourth and final single from X&Y...??
Low is too long to be a single. Imagine the 1:30 they'd have to cut out. I'd bet Square One as the 4th, but Low is still a very good song, possibly top 3 on the album.- Guess the song!
Clocks "sing out yeah"- Which Covers of the AROBTTH singles represent who?
In My Place - Johnny Clocks - Chris The Scientist - Will God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - Guy- Speed Of Sound or Fix You?
Speed of Sound! I can't stand Fix You as a single. It did have better B-Sides though.- Chris & Johnny about the New album!
"transvestite phase"- The Hardest Part: A Joke
Musically, I love this song; it may be one of the best Coldplay's done. Probably not, but it's still pretty good. However, the lyrics are sooooooooo out of place. I was listening to it this morning, and I couldn't help but smile and be happy. Then I realized the words, "the hardest part was letting go not taking part / you really broke my heart" They don't fit in with the bouncy happiness of the song at all. I almost had to laugh at the thought of what Chris was on when he decided to do this.- Cover of Square One
Can you post the music you use? I'm interested in making a midi, but I have no clue what the synth is playing. - Did Ashlee Simpson rip off Coldplay?
