  1. Coldplay- KCRW White Shadows leak
  2. Pras, yea he was def. just the producer figure in the group, he should be quiet haha
  3. ...is both happy and embarassed that the joke did not transfer over successfully moving on... I'm now thinking...only 30 mins til SNL Coldplay repeats, get to see that great Fix You performance again
  4. thank you Justine still on the topic of hiphop- I am still saddened by the breakup of the Fugees. The Score was a ridiculous album that still commands the utmost respect and attention, especially in todays, er, "lacking" rap community. Apparently Dave Chappelle organized a reunion show somewhere last year, but these people need to get back together for at least one more album, see how their collective experiences since 1996 would mesh...strangely enough, this comes back to Kanye West! He's producing Lauryn Hill's new album, and is rumored to be pushing a Fugees record as well. If it happens im willing to wait
  5. well the Kanye West thread has now officially turned into the "anything hip-hop" thread apparently and this is my 100th post, meaning i have wasted people's time in the triple digits now! sweet
  6. id presume krs one is a good show no matter where you see him i saw him once actually.... but it was at an Orioles game :dozey:
  7. ...and now wondering how many canadian coldplayers will be attacking me in the next few moments
  8. wondering if canada feels like a loft apartment over a really crazy party
  9. biking, rollerblading brings up the scary image of possible fannypacks, uugghhh (shudders) hockey season taking place or not taking place...again :smug:
  10. ahh well... my "shit" would be clothes, bed linens, random toiletries, computer stuff, new camera (ive never taken a camera anywhere with me before in my life, i never use them) i have many other things that i will guaranteed not use next year, except for a lot of morning advil and tylenol...and this ridiculous hugh hefner bathrobe type thing. ah yes, the joys of back to school...
  11. oh now theres someone ive always wanted to see i guess bein around nyc would be a great advantage to seein him though im sure
  12. I am now thinking MC is not a fan of the S bomb
  13. whoa my bad...i bought entirely too much fecal matter for college
  14. Ben Folds - Bitches Aint Shit (Dr. Dre cover) ...yea
  15. I'm thinking "wow i bought entirely too much shit for college"
  16. you ever had the priveledge of seeing them live? I saw em at William and Mary University in Williamsburg, they filled up their football stadium, it was a ridiculous show. Also saw them a couple years back, here in Richmond (surprisingly, nothing happens here, sucks being between VA Beach and DC sometimes haha)
  17. oh damn that was a major miscue, Illadelph i guess was the first commercial "success" they had or something Phrenology to me still stands high above the rest
  18. Ben Folds appreciation thread I have been a looongtime fan of Ben Folds/Ben Folds Five I think this guy is a musical genius (he played every instrument on his last album Rockin The Suburbs), and he is quite witty and clever in his lyrics as well just wonderin if anyone else agrees with my sentiment/wants to discuss!
  19. yea seriously The Roots can't mess up in my book, from Illadelph Halflife up to The Tipping Point, I've been a big fan. That would be absolutely crazy to actually see....Kanye+ The Roots. I wonder what the fusion of the best production hip-hop with the best live hip-hop would be?? But yea MC I understand how you can be turned off by the flashiness of many rap stars. What is even more shocking when you find a flashy one that can back it up with substance (a la Jay Z, Kanye (sometimes flashy, but thats just his personality, Outkast, and Dr. Dre...when he still made music  ) i guess actual lyrics might be perfect here to justify the shine... For those that think Hov' fingers bling bling'n Either haven't heard the album or they don't know english They only know what the single is, and singled that out to be the meaning of what he is about And bein I'm about my business, not minglin much runnin my mouth, that shit kept lingerin But no dummy, that's the shit I'm sprinklin The album width to keep the registers ringin In real life, I'm much more distinguished I'm like a bloke from London, England Jeah, you jinglin baby See I go right back and I bring 'em in baby Business mind of a Ross Perot, but never lost my soul -Jay Z
  20. it is quite sad to see what has happened to R&B actually, its mostly become a venue to see who can harmonize the best over shitty beats (ex: R. Kelly)
  21. thank you mc, I'm just sayin, for the mostpart if you are finding it hard to get a hold of good hip-hop in today's market, Kanye is actually a good way to find them...he doesnt produce or lay down some lines for crap. (might i also suggest The Roots. Easily one of the best live shows I've ever been to, and they are all extremely talented at their instruments instead of just a posse that follows Black Thought around on stage (BT= voice of the group))
  22. ok, i agree that it has become increasingly hard to find decent hip-hop music to listen to, especially with the terrible popularity of such crap like the ying-yang twins, lil john, cash money records etc etc...that stuff is terrible. Now how could you accuse Kanye of being one of that group of disposable artists? Not only has he become instrumental in the crafting of one of the new hiphop legends, Jay Z (via mostly production, and his own success alone), as well as align himself with the best and brightest of decent rap today (Common- new album BE is incredible, Talib Kweli- possibly the best unheard voice in hip hop for the past decade, Mos Def- yea hes goofy and he has the acting thing going on, but he is still very worthy of people's attention, plus Kanye has brought John Legend to the world, who has made a classic r&B style relevant in this short attention span music industry....plus I'd wait a few more months people, Lauryn Hill is comin back with the help of guess who...Kanye West. I think its atrocious that anyone would even think to group Kanye with those other short-bus rappers as mentioned above. Did you not hear Jesus Walks? All Falls Down? or how bout Two Words, nah probably not cause it seems you may have sadly dismissed his album from the get-go cause it was "rap" please give it another serious shot, doubters
