  1. and no, dizzee rascal is not hiphop, neither is The Streets i dunno what they are...weird, entertaining at times
  2. and yea that sucks about the US, but dammit without us... no hiphop :smug:
  3. qn5? cant say i have
  4. i just get mad that the Lil Johns and JaRules are the reasons people hate rap, because most people (that i know, anyways) are very quick to make judgements about genres of music just from those they see all over MTV and on crappy radio
  5. well i mean, i guess its a good sign that he's getting airplay and that people seem to be yearning for better music on hiphop radio too much trash otherwise
  6. well yea i didnt COMPLETELY dismiss the US, still have a few ones left
  7. i met Chad Hugo (the "other guy" of the neptunes) in an airport once, that was kinda cool
  8. yea im gonna have to agree with the crappy American music comment you have to search really hard for decent artists over here for the past few years
  9. Endlessly is one of the cooler songs i've heard in a while
  10. You know who has surprised me though...The Clipse They have the ultimate hookup in having the Neptunes as friends (go back to earlier days in Virginia- hometown heros!), so all their beats are gonna be catchy and innovative, however even though i was very wary of an all-Neptunes produced album, considering i was expecting that would be the only thing going for it, Lord Willin turned out to be very good indeed!
  11. yea they are legends, i agree that they were a neccessary step in the growth of rap. THey took rap to suburbia, which in turn gave hiphop the much needed money to really take off. Of course, this also enabled very very baaaaddddd rappers to get signed etc etc, but hey, its a war of attrition, this world of music searching
  12. Camille u seem to know whats up (ref. to the kanye thread too)
  13. holy crap. that was one of the most energetic live performances i've ever seen (talkin bout live 8) I hadn't heard of Muse before that, looks like I'll be making a trip to best buy tomorrow to snatch the cd. now a new favorite
  14. it was a struggle to catch onto his style, his flow is so sporatic and seemingly disjointed on the surface, but it hits parts of the beats that dont even exist and brings that to surface as opposed to rhyming on the end beat of every bar and emphasizing it, like the Beastie Boys. They've had the same damn flow for 20 years and nobody is catching onto this. 1 raps most of the line, then the line ends with all 3 screaming the last word. It's annoying as hell.
  15. yea...i want her to come back home :(
  16. yea BE has been a long time coming, an underappreciated artist (who was stuck in a groove of cameos and neo-soul niches) finally puts out what he is fully capable of
  17. I like Radiohead, but their hardcore fans are so conceited and annoying it takes away much of the enjoyment for me. they need to be nice (then again, i'd be pissed too if a "competing" band were currently beating the crap out of my favorite band at the moment. ahem.)
  18. yea some of the stuff off of those EPs is really good (wandering, "original" Give Judy My Notice, SOmeone cooler etc etc) I'm really disappointed i dont get to go see him play at wolftrap though in august :( school stuff interferes, but i sure as hell am not missing raleigh coldplay b/c of school
  19. The Village 3/10 The same guy who made the sixth sense/unbreakable/signs made THIS?? this movie is a piece.
  20. wow this thread went a couple days with no replies, thank god people like Ben too on this forum haha My favorite song of his (alone) would be either Not the Same (about his friend tripping out on acid, and waking up a born again christian) or There's Always Someone Cooler than You Favorite Ben Fols Five song = Mess, please give this song a listen, its incredible both lyrically and musically, the Five at the top of their game
  21. John Legend- "It don't have to change"
  22. wow justine.
  23. love mexico- XX and Corona on tap everywhere, ridiculously cheap made my keg rounds at a few graduation parties too, those kids parents were awesome
