  1. yup. doors open at 5pm so they'll need time to let people in. there's 2 support acts, the first of which is likely to go on around 6pm. and the later they're on, the closer to darkness for the full effect of the xylobands
  2. will also depend on whether they are genuine tickets or fakes.
  3. they usually finish between 10:30pm & 11 pm. stadium is about 30 mins walk from Manchester Piccadilly. according to trainline the last train for Sheffield leaves Piccadilly at 23:20 but there's no connecting train to Goole until 05:29 Mon morning and the train before that is 20:30 before Coldplay are likely to even be on stage :(
  4. Another one: Last night we went and saw Coldplay at the Hollywood Bowl. We see at least 3-4 concerts a year, which isn't a ton compared to some of my friends, but it's enough to get us out of the house and keep us feeling young. Concerts still have the ability to almost make me teary eyed with eupohoria, even when I'm 22 weeks pregnant and not a lick of alcohol in my body. The common bonding experience of music is really just pure magic. Everyone singing along, swaying back and forth, cheering, hollering. It gives me chills. I'm not the biggest Coldplay fan. I mean they're a great band and I respect their talent, but quite honestly I don't even own an entire album, just songs. When we had the opportunity to buy tickets 5 months ago though I knew it was probably the only chance I'd get to see such a legendary band live. Let me tell you they were amazing and I'm so glad we went. The show was so electric, energetic, exciting, and just good, good, good. They sound fantastic live and his energy is contagious. Trust me, that's saying a lot considering my condition. The whole stadium received these wristbands when we entered and throughout the show at certain times they lit up in unison with the music. 17,000 light up neon wrists was a sight to see. Baby bean loved the music too, and we've officially taken all three of our babies to concerts in utero. I think that's pretty cool and awesome ;) [thanks '''four flights ''' http://fourflightsoffancy.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/concert-memories-coldplay.html ]
  5. blog: Well, well, here we are again at yet another spectacular spectacular Coldplay concert. This past Tuesday I was lucky enough to visit the Hollywood Bowl with three of my friends and boyfriend in tow. A magical night of miracles where we barely made the Hollywood and Highland shuttle, and where we were able to picnic on not one, not two, but three bottles of wine (okay it was more like 3 mondo-bottles...), endless Brie and baguettes, cured meats, hummus, and my famous broccoli pasta salad. A night to remember concluded with Chris Martin playing in the middle of the crowd, and ending with a medley of Clocks, Fix You (not a dry eye in the house), and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. Not only did they play my one of all time favorites Lovers in Japan, but they also played classics like In My Place, Warning Sign, and The Scientist and new songs like Paradise and Charlie Brown. It was purely fantastic. [thanks '''mon amy''' http://amyturman.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/lovers-in-japan-coldplay-at-hollywood.html]
  6. Blog: Last night we went to the Coldplay concert and they were fantastic! Chris Martin totally sets the tone with such a good attitude. You can tell at times that he was super tired because he would collapse on the stage and huff out some sounds but everyone loved it. I always heard that their concerts are the best and it’s true! In the beginning, they gave us each these ’80s colored wristbands that each light up a different color and go with the music. What is it about flashing lights that make both animals and humans go wild? Laser beams! Don’t get a seizure. There were ambulances outside after the show. More laser beams! Also, I’ve never seen such a diverse crowd at a concert before. That was awesome. There was a mom with her two sons (or one son and a son’s friend) and all 3 of them were totally going nuts. I would love to be able to take my kids to a concert someday, given I can tolerate their music choice or vice versa. That’s something I missed out in high school. I desperately need a Spice Girls reunion again (I think they did one before). [thanks Shannon & Terry http://theparksandrecreation.wordpress.com/2012/04/29/concerts-concerts-concerts/ ]
  7. Blog: out cold(play) “Put on your wristbands; they’re part of the show.” Every few minutes, the circular screens would flash these words, eliciting an eruption of cheering, screaming, and hand-waving. My boyfriend Ben and I had been awaiting this moment with tranquility, meanwhile enjoying the opening acts of bands The Pierces and Metronomy. We’d made the drive down to San Jose through a stressful onslaught of Friday afternoon traffic; thankfully, our impatience had subsided. Personally, however, I’d convinced myself that this was just a concert despite adoring the main attraction for a decade. I’d forgotten that the music was buried within me, residing comfortably beside the high school memories I cherish beyond all others. I’d lulled myself into a false sense of disinterest. I suppose I was under the impression that I was about to be let down, as if that was ever possible. As I watched the members of Coldplay assemble onstage, I realized that I had forgotten the emotions that albums like Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head had stirred in the deepest center of my being. And suddenly, as the sounds began to swell, the stadium was glowing with the intensity of a million strands of Christmas lights, and all those feelings returned to me. Instantly. It’s difficult for me to accurately express the awe I felt in that moment, when the wristbands lit up in a flurried rainbow of excitement. Invisible canons fired waves of colorful confetti while Chris Martin leaped across stage with a controlled energy. The lead singer belted out Mylo Xloto hits “Hurts Like Heaven,” “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,” “Princess of China,” and “Charlie Brown,” in addition to classics like “Viva La Vida,” and a heart-wrenching “The Scientist.” Martin’s endearing stumble through ”Warning Sign” created that unique performer-audience bond as he cussed and claimed that he’d almost had it. At points during the concert, he collapsed onto the stage as the lights dimmed. It was as if the high spirits were tangible weights bearing down on him at all times. There was always a smile on his face, however, like the exhaustion was a triumph. The band appeared in the stands for their encore, entering one by one throughout the song “Us Against the World.” Martin addressed the audience first, asking for due applause when each member arrived on the platform. Their finale continued back on the main stage, where they performed “Clocks” and topped it all off with “Paradise.” Martin’s passionate singing and the band’s appreciation for their fans was overwhelming. They thanked each and every one of us for shelling out the cash to attend their show in such harsh economic times. But Coldplay truly made it worth the while, going the extra mile to include their audience within the performance. April the 27th will go down in my book as one of the memorable nights to date. I wanted to live in those hours forever, but I knew that it would end all too soon and that I’d be recounting it longer than I felt it. It was almost like I was remembering it as it was happening. Now, I’m afraid I’ll never be able to comprehend all that it was. But I do know that it was not just a concert. It was an experience. [thanks http://modeandthelike.com/2012/3515/ ]
  8. Blog: Coldplay: Colorful Literally. And, honestly, there aren’t many other ways to describe the Coldplay concert in San Jose on Friday night. At times, I felt I was inside a massive arena-sized kaleidoscope of spinning, twirling, flashing colors. The band had distributed thousands of multicolored wrist-bands at the entrances which were controlled with a cheap plastic radio signal so when the band took the stage and during carious songs throughout the night, the entire audience lit up like a human piñata. During the opening number, "Hurts Like Heaven," massive plumes of colored confetti rained over the audience and the arena crowd looked a bit like a multi-layered cake covered with candy sprinkles and the stage looked like it was painted by a graffiti artist. The spectacle almost created a sensory overload. In fact, after the first two songs, I thought the band had nowhere else to go. I have frequently denigrated Coldplay’s music. Some have called it ‘weepy chick rock’ or music that forgot the melody (or stole it). I have called Coldplay ‘excellent background music’ which is a pretty harsh indictment. Much of it is free from the usual hooks of pop-music which is both a strength and weakness. However, the extravagant lightshow was well-adapted to big, open cinematic sound and large crescendos that characterize most of CP’s music. So, the night was quite a bit of fun and only enhanced by my concert-going companions. All of whom had great suggestions for this MV&R entry but which were lost at a Café Leila breakfast. Nevertheless, there were many favorite moments including the release of dozens of giant beach balls from the rafters of the arena, "Yellow," the first encore song being played from the back of the arena before the band sprinted back to the stage through the crowd, large tear-shaped psychedelic colored balloons that lit up around the upper level during the song, “Every Tear is a Waterfall.” Our seats were rather high up in the front row of the upper deck but this also gave us a wonderful, unobstructed vantage point for the entire concert. I would not consider myself a Coldplay-convert after the live experience which I was assured was a religious experience. But, I can better appreciate why others adore the band. I still find the music a bit forgettable but the band puts a huge amount of energy and effort into pleasing their audience. So, I would definitely recommend the concert and for real CP-fans, I am sure that it will be a great experience. http://musicalviewsandreviews.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/coldplay-colorful.html
  9. Blog: Friday we high tailed it with Caitlin and Cyrous to San Jose to see Coldplay at the HP Pavilion. Their concerts are always so colorful and full of fun interactive surprises. We were pretty high up in the stands, but this is such a great venue, that they had huge monitors so you can see everything, even though they are the size of ants if you were to see them where we were seated. Maybe Coldplay brought these monitors as part of their concert, I"m not sure, but they were wonderful to have. Chris Martin was really having fun at our concert. There were beach balls coming down from the ceiling and more and more confetti. We were given these bracelets while we had dinner at the Pavilion, and the person said that they were part of the show, and to wear them through out. They some how activated everyones bracelet at certain times of the concert, and it was so pretty to see all of the twinkling lights! Well done Coldplay! Another thing Chris Martin and the band seems to like to do, is to surprise the audience by some how going to the back of the arena and mingle with the poor people, like us that aren't close to the stage. They popped up back here and the lights flipped on to reveal the band on one of the staircase landings. Lots of fun, and I remember they did this at the last concert, and we were super lucky that time, because they were next to us! 10. A couple more blog reviews: Coldplay Put a Smile Upon My Face Coldplay didn't exactly rock the Portland Rose Garden last night, but Chris Martin and co. sure know how to throw themselves into an energetic frenzy of anthemic pop/rock. After my past two attempts to see a Coldplay show fell through, the long awaited opportunity to see one of my favorite bands did not disappoint. Soaring melodies, gleeful dancing, and spectacular show production were the order of the night. The randomly flashing glow bracelets that were handed out before showtime illuminated the arena with a multicolored sea of lights. All of that hyperkinetic energy occasionally ebbed away to make room for the intimacy of "The Scientist” (one of the greatest ballads ever) and Chris' beautiful piano outro of "Amsterdam" (no, not a plug for my next BlogSpot post). Most of the show, however, was pure, bouncy pop bliss. Or maybe I should say, Paradise. [thanks Garth http://garthhamilton.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/coldplay-put-smile-upon-my-face.html ] Last night was just another date night Tuesday evening... except for the fact that it was mine and Josh's first date night since December 2011 and oh, you know, we just happened to have COLDPLAY tickets to their Portland concert! (Tickets I had gotten Josh's for Christmas last year.) The concert was absolutely amazing. It was so just... magical. And happy. And amazing. It basically blew my mind. I wasn't that big of a Coldplay fan before the concert, I liked them well enough but wasn't crazy for them or anything, but oh man! Now? TOTALLY A SUPERFAN. [thanks Bethany http://everywhereismystudio.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/coldplay.html ]
  11. wow, Portland seems to be a ghost town! other than the tweets and the vids Tash has found there's nothing on the web yet - no press reviews, fan blogs, nothing :(
  12. Now they've announced the Cpital FM, Wembley show on the same day, anyone know if the Etihad has a curfew for events?
  13. so Coldplay have to be on at 4pm as the flight from London to Manchester is an hour and they'll presumably need to eat in between

  22. They say that music has the magical ability to make you travel and I feel like Coldplay achieved that tonight. I have loved this band for more than 7 years now. They never seem to disappoint with their music and today was the first time that I saw them at live. There is no words to describe how i felt during and after the concert. “Wow” is not enough, “spectacular” doesn’t quite grasp it, while “amazing” seems to undermine it. I think I fell in love with them all over again! From the moment when they opened the show till the moment when they ended their last song, I didn’t feel like I was in Calgary anymore. I don’t even think there is a place that can describe it. The colorful flashing bracelets, the beach balls, the confetti, even the mistakes, and especially the energy level made this the night to remember. It felt personal, it wasn’t as if you were at a concert with thousands of people but at a gathering while listening to one of your friends singing. Coldplay managed to make it special! It wasn’t as if we were a stop on a world tour but as we were the only destination that they were playing for. In a really stressful week with lots of overnight studying, Coldplay made me forget all about that. School didn’t matter, nothing did. All I cared about was enjoying the music and that I did, without a doubt. I loved the way they played some old hits. It reminded me of what I originally felt when I first heard Coldplay on the radio. They sound amazing live! I am serious Chris Martin has sooooo much energy, that watching him jump up and down made me feel tired but I loved every single part of it! He feels the music and that shows. They do not disappoint! If you have to go to at least one concert on your life, make sure it is a Coldplay concert! Trust me you will not be disappointed whatsoever. Goodnight people and dream of paradise (see what I did there?) I know that was cheesy…. http://whitneyzrules.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/coldplay-in-calgary/
  23. Photos and Thoughts: Coldplay in concert! When I think of a monumental moment in my life, I’m probably supposed to think about things like graduation, babies and wedding days. Well so far, only one of those has happened and so I become forced to consider other things to make up those moments, which quite frankly, is okay by me. So, because writing is essentially my life, many of my life’s monumental moments have been moments that I could never even picturing happening. Things that still give me chills when I think about them, even if they happened years, months or days ago. In my recent memory, one of those moments saw me standing in the middle of a bullring in Madrid, Spain, lightly falling rain fell in between thousands of paper butterflies descended upon the crowd of 25,000 people. Better yet, the music of a live Coldplay concert was penetrating my ears and I couldn’t be happier. You probably wouldn’t believe me, but at that moment I told myself, “Do not ever forget this, this is perfect.” It was a moment that I thought could never be relived, something that I might tell my hypothetical kids, years after my hypothetical wedding. Well tonight, it happened again and this time, it was in my city of Calgary. Coldplay, which of course includes Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion, rolled into town tonight, which was only the second stop on their North American Mylo Xyloto tour and the minute you walked into the Saddledome, you could tell the audience was stoked. Sure the band has their naysayers, but I’ve never been one of them and even if there were a few of them in the crowed tonight, I guarantee that the they left the stadium a converted person. Do you know what, I’m almost jealous of those who became new fans tonight, because there was probably no better concert experience for them to see the band in all their glory. Coldplay’s presence and sheer force on the stage is undeniable, but long time fans have known that for a while. Just like Every Tear Drop is a Waterfall, every minute of the concert was an experience. Starting with the specially programmed wrist bands that light up throughout the show, timed to the beat of the music or the roar of the crowd. At times, the light show it caused was so stunning, it was as if we were in a jar of really brightly coloured fireflys. For some, it was probably one of those moments that I mentioned earlier. The lights and their spectacle were really the fifth member of the band and while the show was doused in lights, it never took away from the concert for a minute. Stripped down on their quieter songs, the band is just as engaging. Their energy is addictive and caused the audience to stand on their feet for the entire concert, if you’ve never been to a Calgary concert, then you don’t know how much of a feat that is. Speaking of feet, Martin and the band put theirs to good work, crisscrossing the stage and even the stadium, no doubt to ensure that even the fans in the nosebleeds felt that they had their own up close and personal experience with Coldplay, something that many bands would never even think to do. The show itself, didn’t differ that much from a few months ago in Spain, but why would it have too? Whether you’re a new fan of Coldplay, or you’ve made out to your fair share of the band’s rock ballads, this is a must see concert. This is the concert that you will talk about when you share your favourite concert stories, this is the concert that you will compare all other concerts to and the cool thing about this show, is I think Coldplay will remember it just as much as we did. http://mikesbloggityblog.com/2012/04/photos-and-thoughts-coldplay-in-concert.html
