  1. Rail strike talks to avert disruption to Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen gigs at Sunderland UNIONS and bosses will meet on Monday to try to avert a rail strike that could hit two rock concerts. Tyne and Wear Metro workers plan 24-hour walkouts on Thursday, June 7, and Thursday, June 21, when Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen respectively play at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland. The two events, along with a concert on Sunday, June 24, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, will attract up to 150,000 people in total, many from outside the region. Hotels in Sunderland are fully booked and the region’s economy will receive an estimated £10m boost. The action, over a below-inflation pay rise of 1.3 per cent, is expected to shut down the network. Talks were due to start on Wednesday between Aslef, RMT and Unite and Metro operator DB Regio Tyne and Wear, a division of the German state railway, but have been brought forward. Meanwhile, there are plans to run 56 buses after the Coldplay concert to Newcastle and the Heworth Interchange at Gateshead. Sharon Kelly, from DB Regio Tyne and Wear, said the company “remain hopeful we can resolve this dispute, because we are keenly aware of the disruption a strike will cause to passengers, the economy and image of the North-East. “As well as disrupting passengers who use Metro to get to work or out and about during the half term holiday, it will also impact on people attending the Coldplay concert at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on Thursday night, who were planning to get there and home again by Metro.” RMT regional organiser Mickey Thompson said workers did not want to inconvenience passengers and hoped to resolve the dispute. He said: “Hopefully, common sense will prevail, (the company) will come with a sensible offer and we will be able to resolve the current impasse. “We have made it clear that they will have to come back with a substantial offer that will pacify our members.’’ Ross Smith, from the North East Chamber of Commerce, said the concerts would be “a showcase for the region and bring in millions to the North-East economy”. He added: “To even consider strike action on days where the region will be packed with visitors reliant on public transport – not to mention the people who use the service every day – is both irresponsible and counter-productive.” * Go North East will run extra buses to places including Durham, Washington and Newcastle for all three concerts. 6. Fans walked out of the Manchester Arena after rock giants Guns N' Roses kept them waiting for over an hour last night. The US rockers were due on at around 10pm but didn't take the stage until around 11.15pm, by which time some members of the audience had given up waiting. Axl Rose and crew then played a three-hour set that went on until 2.15am, including hits Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine and Patience. MEN reviewer Dianne Bourne said she estimated around 40 per cent of the audience had left the Arena by the time the final track was played. She tweeted: "no explanation, not even a wry comment from Axl! I'd say 60 per cent of us were left at the bitter, 2.15am end." Read Dianne Bourne's review of the concert here Concert acts at the Arena are asked to end the show by 11pm to allow fans time to catch the last night trains out of central Manchester. The band has a reputation for flouting venue rules, and turned up on stage 90 minutes late for a concert at the Arena in October 2010. However, with the Arena the band took it to another level last night by starting the show AFTER the time they were supposed to finish. Matt Ward, spokesperson for the Manchester Arena said: “The Manchester Arena holds a 24 hour entertainment licence. However, to tie in with local transport links, we always ask that shows finish by 11.00pm. “The majority of acts comply with this request, however Guns N’ Roses have a well-publicised history of late performances of which their fans are fully aware. “Although last night’s late finish unfortunately meant a number of fans had to leave before the end, the three-hour performance delighted the majority of the Manchester crowd. “Despite this, we have received complaints from a number of ticketholders and we will be passing these on to the band’s promoter AEG Live to answer.” http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/tv_and_showbiz/s/1550363_fans-walk-out-of-manchester-arena-as-guns-n-roses-gig-goes-on-until-215am
  7. Coldplay kicked off the UK leg of their Mylo Xyloto stadium tour last night, and I was there to see it. Many people out there seem to think it’s cool to slag off Coldplay, but even if you truly dislike what they represent I defy you to go to one of their concerts and not enjoy yourself. It was by far the best concert I’ve ever been too, and whilst that’s not saying too much given the limited number of concerts I’ve actually been to, it’s hard to see right now how it could be topped, short of resurrecting Freddie Mercury or any of the other dead music legends. Firstly, there was the weather. Before I got inside I passed hundreds of people sitting around on the grassy areas enjoying a few drinks and ice creams. I got inside and my watch immediately told me it was Pimms O’Clock. It was just one of those days when the weather puts everyone in a good mood, and a crowd in a good mood before anyone has even performed always helps at a concert. Yet because it was a stadium concert and the first support act didn’t start until 19:15, the temperature was pleasant throughout despite the huge crowd. I can imagine that in an indoor venue once the crowds started pouring in the heat would have become rather unpleasant, but that wasn’t an issue last night. Speaking of the venue, from a personal point of view that added to the concert. On evenings like last night, you appreciate what a top-quality venue the Ricoh Arena is. It’s just a shame that Coventry City haven’t performed well enough on the pitch to do it justice since they moved in 2005, but at least the summer concerts are always something to look forward to. And it’s a nice thought that I was lucky enough to go to watch arguably the biggest band in the world right now and be able to walk home from the concert. Some have blamed the stadium for Coventry City’s recent troubles, but we shouldn’t forget what an asset it is to the city. In the days at Highfield Road, all of the big acts played in Birmingham. Now plenty of them play their Midlands gig in Coventry instead. Perhaps the only area in which the concert could have been improved was the support acts. The second act was the Swedish pop star Robyn. She came out with a terrible haircut, dubious dance-moves and even though I’ve heard a few of her songs in the past she chose to perform none of them. Instead, she went for quite a dance-based set, which might have worked in certain situations (a gig at a nightclub perhaps) but certainly didn’t work as a warm-up for Coldplay. The fact that the biggest cheer in her set came when a granny dancing in the crowd was spotted on the video screen says it all really. The first support act was Rita Ora, who I’d never really been impressed by whenever I’ve seen her on TV before. But actually I was pleasantly surprised. She seemed to be a natural at performing in a stadium, and her two number 1′s, Hot Right Now and R.I.P. did a good job of getting a crowd going that still had nearly two hours to wait for the main event. When Coldplay came out, you knew before the first song (Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven) had finished that this was going to be a great performance. All of the music was spot on what you would hope to hear at a concert, and the staging was incredible. Never mind best concert, this was one of the best fireworks displays I’ve ever been to and easily the best light show. As you enter the gig, they give you a wristband which automatically flashes at certain times during the concert. If you saw their performance on The X-Factor [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcb_hM-Gi-Y]Coldplay's glowing gig - The X Factor 2011 Live Final - itv.com/xfactor - YouTube[/ame] you’ll understand what this looks like, but when your actually there it’s even better. This quality of staging has become a basic requirement at pop concerts, yet many rock bands still feel that simply performing their songs well is enough. In a sense it is, but if you’ve got the budget to be able to put on a show which is amazing not only in terms of sound but in visual terms too, why wouldn’t you take that opportunity? Some people might balk at my description of Coldplay as ‘rock’. Before last night, I would have probably hesitated to describe them in that way, but last night proved that they certainly can rock. Their arrangement of God Put A Smile Upon Your Face was proof that Coldplay can match pretty much anyone you’d care to mention in how to put on a rock concert. And even the songs that you definitely wouldn’t call rock songs like Us Against The World were performed in a way that worked in the stadium environment. You could definitely see the benefits that come with experience. Coldplay understand how to perform at a stadium, and have a sufficiently strong back catalogue to ensure they can go through their entire set without a single dud. A thought struck me on the walk home though that if you were able to secure a private Coldplay gig at your home, I don’t think it would be any less brilliant. Their skills as musicians and ability to alter the arrangements of their songs means that I’m sure they’d do a brilliant acoustic set that would be truly memorable and yet wouldn’t get the neighbours calling the police. After all, one of the reasons some people criticise the band is for producing ‘Dinner party music’. Well, maybe they do, but how many bands are versatile enough to produce music that works at a dinner party but can also be used for a stadium concert? I can’t think of too many, and it’s this versatility that most impresses about Coldplay. The next time you hear someone slagging off Coldplay, ask them whether they’ve ever seen them play live. I can almost guarantee the answer will be no. [thanks Scorpio Stories http://scorpostories.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/concert-review-coldplay/ ]

  11. Some good pics on here@ http://thingsiwoulddiefor.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/coldplay-in-zurich.html And some reviews: On Saturday I went to the Coldplay concert here in Zurich, this was my third time to see them and everytime it is amazing. This was by far the largest concert I had been too 48,000 people but everyone looked like they enjoyed themselves. On this occasion they certainly out did themselves with the fireworks, balls, light show and of course the fantastic music. When we got into the stadium we were given a wristband which lights up with certain songs like Charlie Brown, it was really a wonderful sight to see them all lit up. The tickets get harder and harder to buy each time they have a concert here, so I am glad I managed to get them. I would go and see them again and again if I could. They played all their big hits like Yellow, Clocks, Fix You and then they played a song that I just adore called A Warning Sign from their second album, could not believe it when I heard them playing it. There support bands were Rita Ora (who I did not hear) and Marina and the Diamonds which I would like to hear again. If you ever get a chance to see Coldplay then do so!! [thanks Emma http://scottishgirlinzurich.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/coldplay-in-zurich.html ] So here, last night I was at the Coldplay concert in Zurich. Already be aware that Zurich is about 2 hours drive from my house and that when there is no cap, but since it's Coldplay, it has taken caps. I was driving with my two brothers and a friend of my father and two ahead of us in another car. It was a struggle to get to there, fortunately there were reserved parking purpose. After it took to walk to the stadium and before entering we ate a sausage (or nicely appointed Bradwurst by natives, because yes, they speak German in Zurich). We got to the stage, bn we missed the first part of the first part was Riat Ora, I would have liked to see but after there was Marina And The Diamonds and I must say that it was not bad! At the beginning of the concert we had all received bracelets called XyloBands (referring to the album name). These bracelets were ordered by radio and lit by time. I swear, during Charlie Brown it was beautiful! Otherwise the concert was a killer! At one point they made Paradise and Chris Martin starts to say "Goodbye", I was there WTF? And I turn my head, I see guys who were planning a small stage to even 10 feet away, I convinced my family that there is something that happens, you get closer and there is every group that comes on this small stage. I was limited in tears I swear. One of my favorite bands to even 10 feet away from me! I thought I would die! In addition they sang "Us Against The World" is one of my favorite songs on the album. It was awesome! (Well they seem far and look like ghosts in my photos) In short, the show was great, with fireworks everywhere, lights, balloons, confetti, bracelets .. I think it will be hard to see a better concert. Chris really made the show, like he had too much air into a trance at times! [thanks Muriel http://keepcalmandeatacookie.blogspot.com/2012/05/i-will-try-to-fix-you.html ] Coldplay - it was para, para, paradise! Saturday - weekend, beautiful weather and the prospect of a concert highlight of the class. These great views are made, along with me, even 47'999 people to travel to Zurich's Letzigrund. The stadium was sold out within a very short time, all tickets for the coveted Coldplay show were gone. Alone the pump full stadium and a massive stage set gave off a very impressive picture. The first act went into Rita Ora, the huge stage and brought the crowd going. Rita Ora is regarded as the next Rihanna and is a very popular R & B newcomer. The lovely Rita was in a very daring outfit and with a huge beam on his face. To be honest, it did not hit my taste in music. In general, I can inspire that kind of music a little. Considered neutral but they gave off a great show and revealed that she has a great voice. She was always laughing and gave me a very nice impression. Even the audience seemed to like it, because I only saw happy faces and some were dancing to the already warm electronic beats. Shortly after Rita had left the stage again, we were already the next young lady to give their music the best. She is also often heard on the radio and is on the podium for the rising global success. Marina & The Diamonds is the name of the lady and is known to many because of the song "Prima Donna". It makes bittersweet pop music and uses also like to have on electronic beats. All the music is very experimental and theatrical. Their appearance reminded me a bit of Alice in Wonderland, she looked very magical. What a doll she stood and sang her songs with passion. She convinced her stage presence and her regular hammer, a very unusual voice. Even if the music is very poppy and sweet, but often vibrates with an enormous amount of melancholy, which made it very interesting for me. Actually, this is not my taste in music, but I must admit that I really believe Marina has. I'd be lying if I say that I did not like. Marina And The Diamonds also after the field had cleared, was pleased really any of the 48,000 visitors to Coldplay. The band had visitors in the first second fully under control. The Letzigrund seemed to explode. Frontman Chris Martin and his bandmates excelled with an insane stage presence, and so all went under her spell. Granted, I've rarely seen such a beautiful, sophisticated and detailed scenery. Everywhere, there were splashes of color and graffiti, even the instruments and the band were artfully smeared with paint. The circular screens showing the band, allowing the viewers follow the events on the back of the stage. Already the second song, "Hurts Like Heaven" was the first special effect to the train, big guns firing loads of colorful confetti into the air. It was a really amazing picture. But that should still be far from everything, always fired rockets into the cloudless sky and huge, colorful balloons were thrown into the audience. At the entrance to each audience got a ribbon tied around the wrist, the ribbon suddenly began to flash in time with the music on and turned the Letzigrund into a single sea of lights. It was a beautiful picture, underlined with the music it was just awesome. The line-up could also have their responsibilities. The band left out no classic. "The Scientist" and "Fix You" caused goose bumps. Even songs like "Yellow", "Princess of China", "Viva La Vida" and "Us Against The World" was played. In "Paradise" the audience knew no bounds and all, but really all sang along. With "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall", the concert was finally end. What a night! For me, this concert was definitely something of the best things I've ever seen. An absolute highlight. Coldplay have conquered the whole Letzigrund by storm and are still as authentic and, of course, remained. Hats off! The word perfect is always very difficult to use because perfect is not really possible, but this concert was really very, very close. http://www.art-noir.ch/art-noir/bericht-coldplay-letzigrund-zurich-2012.htm
  12. because the article is a support article about post-natal depression, not an article about Chris & Gwyneth. Gwyneth & Chris' inclusion is because of the importance of partner's being there for you and spotting something's wrong.
  13. I imagine it's going to get lighter with every show, the closer to the summer equinox that we get. we're in the lightest weeks of the year. and some of the earlier shows would have been darker due to the rainclouds. I imagine it's also to do with local licencing laws & curfews too. Sunset in Manchester on 9th June is 21:36. I believe there may be an 11pm curfew, so to get a full set in, you'd need to start before sunset. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=302&month=6&year=2012&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1

You CAN tackle post-natal depression: Gwyneth Paltrow says if you're left feeling like a zombie it doesn't make you a bad mother When Gwyneth Paltrow recently admitted suffering from post-natal depression (PND), it no doubt struck a chord with 70,000 British women who have similar struggles every year. ‘I couldn’t connect to anyone,’ the 39-year-old said. ‘I felt like a zombie and very detached. I just didn’t know what was wrong with me. We think that it makes us bad mothers.’ She credits her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, for urging her to get help – and doctors agree that supportive partners are as key to recovery as medical treatment. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2150343/You-CAN-tackle-post-natal-depression-Gwyneth-Paltrow-says-youre-left-feeling-like-zombie-doesnt-make-bad-mother.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  15. was just about to post an article on this :p Bo Bruce returned to The Voice this evening, to battle for the final team Danny place in the series. The 27 year old singer from Wiltshire was up against her pal Max Milner, for the last remaining place in Danny O’Donoghue’s group and performed Coldplay’s ‘Charlie Brown’ in a bid to win herself the slot on next week’s final show. Coldplay performed the track earlier this year as they opened the 2012 BRIT Awards, it subsequently climbed up the UK chart to Number 30, meaning that beside former UK No1 hit “Paradise”, Coldplay had two songs in the UK Top 40. It was the perfect song choice for Bo and she admitted on Twitter earlier in the week that she was planning to change it up a lot for The Voice’s penultimate episode. She tweeted a follower saying: ‘you wont recognise charlie brown tomorow, but its u i thank for pointing out the megatune x’ It’s nice to see a bolder side to Bo on stage tonight. She’s definitely got more presence, strutting around, and she even squeezes in a little bit of dancing! Wow! Bo’s voice is once again flawless on this track, and she’s totally at home on the stage tonight. Without question, one of our favourite acts this year. Will praises Danny and Bo for stepping up the performances. He tells Danny that he “made her the superstar that she is”, and bubbles with enthusiasm for the performance. Jessie says that Bo could “sing anything and make it sound… Bo”. Danny says he’s proud of Bo and that she sings with grace and style, calling her the most individual artist in the competition. Did you enjoy Bo’s performance tonight? Was it enough to win her a place in the final next week? Leave your comments below….. 16. Coldplay gig at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light to be broadcast to millions COLDPLAY’S concert at the Stadium of Light is set to be broadcast to millions of people over the internet. The four-piece, one of the world’s biggest bands, will perform at the Sunderland venue next month. Fronted by Chris Martin, husband of Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow, the group is playing a series of UK stadium dates to coincide with new album Mylo Xyloto. Demand for tickets has been huge, with the band performing at only three other venues. Last year, fans braved plunging overnight temperatures to get their hands on them, with ardent followers pitching tents at the home of the Black Cats in a bid to be first in the queue. Only a few tickets are now available for the June 7 show. Now Bauer Radio has now teamed with the group to bring interviews and live performances from the Wearside date of the tour. Coldplay: In Demand will see the media company provide a dedicated two-hour block of Coldplay programming across its 20 stations, which include Metro Radio and TFM, on the night of the gig. An official website will also offer streaming of live content from June 15. Ric Blaxill, music and content director at Bauer Radio, said: “Coldplay are one of the world’s biggest bands, with over 50 million worldwide sales, so we’re excited that our unique and exciting evening of programming will connect Coldplay fans across the whole of the UK, harnessing the power of our portfolios to engage audiences with real ‘appointment to listen’ radio. “We are really proud of our ability to deliver quality live music experiences to listeners, whether through arena events, intimate gigs or broadcasts like this one which follows in the footsteps of similar deals with U2, Rihanna, Lily Allen, Kings of Leon and The Script.” Kevin McCabe, the senior vice president of promotion and publicity at Coldplay’s label EMI Music, said he was excited by the agreement. “Bauer have always been strong supporters of Coldplay throughout the years, so we are delighted to be able to build on that relationship to create something special for all their listeners with a band that are at the top of their game right now,” he said. More than 150,000 people are expected to flood into Sunderland in June to see performances by British rock giants Coldplay, one of music’s all time legends Bruce Springsteen on June 21 and US rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers on June 24. Hotels across the city are booked to capacity and the city’s bars, restaurants, shops and taxi companies could be set to share a £10million windfall from the extra visitors. Each concert is worth approximately £3.5million to Sunderland. In the past, Take That, Oasis, Pink and Kings of Leon have all played spectacular concerts at the Stadium of Light. A MAJOR catering operation is underway to feed tens of thousands of hungry concertgoers at the Stadium of Light for this summer’s concerts. Organisers say catering for such large numbers requires months of strategic planning and research for any venue. They expect to sell up to 30,000 burgers, eight miles of hotdogs and about 200,000 drinks including lager, cider, wine and soft drinks. Gary Hutchinson, commercial director at Sunderland AFC, said: “The summer concerts provide a tremendous challenge for our catering and events teams. “The stadium is traditionally hosts football matches and our catering facilities are geared towards short, sharp bursts of activity before and after a match. “For concerts, however, we are required to change our approach and provide food and drink over a significantly longer period of time – this can be anything up to eight hours. “People are encouraged to move around and take food and drink to their seats and onto the pitch – something that legislation doesn’t allow at football matches. During the early years of summer concerts, the club worked closely with its suppliers and other venues to tap into their knowledge and expertise of hosting concerts elsewhere. “When preparing for our first concerts four years ago, we worked with the team that hosted the Oasis and Take That concerts at Manchester City’s football ground,” said Gary. “We listened to them and understood what worked and what didn’t. Combining this with our local knowledge played a huge part in our success, ensuring the best possible outcome for the Sunderland concerts.” http://www.sunderlandecho.com/lifestyle/coldplay-gig-at-sunderland-s-stadium-of-light-to-be-broadcast-to-millions-1-4588034
  17. Police warn Coldplay fans to beware of pickpockets at Ricoh concert POLICE are warning Coldplay fans to be on their guard against pickpockets when the band kick off their tour at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry next week. A sell-out crowd of more than 40,000 are expected to fill the football stadium for the hotly-anticipated concert on Tuesday night. Police say the event could be a magnet for thieves and pickpockets and are urging fans to keep their wallets, mobile phones and car keys safe. Chief Insp Kerry Blakeman, of Coventry Police, said: “For six months ticket holders have been eagerly anticipating the gig and we are working to minimise the potential for crime to ruin anyone’s memories of the evening. “We’d encourage anyone attending the concert to make sure that any purses, wallets or phones are out of sight and not protruding from pockets or bags. “Ideally don’t take a wallet, just loose cash and cards needed on the night.” He added: “We’d also encourage those driving to the event to take a similar security stance with their vehicles, removing all valuable out of sight and ensuring all doors and windows are locked.” For further information visit http://www.registermythings.co.uk Read More http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/2012/05/26/police-warn-coldplay-fans-to-beware-of-pickpockets-at-ricoh-concert-92746-31047624/#ixzz1w4bPtqXA
  18. Singer says tour gimmick is costing them a fortune Coldplay's Chris Martin has admitted that the band spend a fortune on the flashing wristbands they give out to fans at gigs. The singer told the Sun that they were trying to find a way of still handing out the Xylobands to punters, which flash with different colours during their shows, without "going broke". Speaking about the accessories – which he previously claimed were designed by a sex toy inventor – he said: Most of the money we're earning on the tour is put into the wristbands. We have to figure out how to keep it going without going broke because it's a crucial part of the concert. The frontman also revealed that one of their cash-saving schemes – to collect the wristbands at the end of the show – had been nixed by their legal team, adding: "You have to clean everything in case someone picks up herpes or TB. Our lawyers told us we'd get sued, and having been sued a few times we're not keen on that. "It's a little self-indulgent but we love the way it looks when there are 15,000 or 40,000 or however many people with all those lights on them. The technology is still very experimental." Earlier this week (May 21), it was revealed that Coldplay will play a set at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic games on September 9, as part of an event named the 'Festival Of Flame'. They will also tour the UK from May 29 at Coventry's Ricoh Stadium until June 10 at Manchester's City of Manchester Stadium, with three shows at London's Emirates Stadium set for June 1, 2 and 4. http://www.nme.com/news/coldplay/63997

  20. Then finally came the night that I waited a long time because it was the evening of the Coldplay concert in Turin! I waited and dreamed for months, ever since they announced it would be the only Italian date, since we managed to get tickets online! The concert was held at the Stadio Olimpico and for me it was the first time at this stage: an incredible sight to see from the meadow area is completely full of people. Although the stands were packed well. My eye observer noted that the average age of the audience was very low: many boys of twenty / thirty years': a nice collection point for enjoying the music at top quality. The concert started at 21 and 30, Chris and its not even remotely thinking about doing a short break. It 's been a long haul of almost 2 hours full of unexpected events such as fireworks, light organized with bright bracelets (which were all delivered to the entrance), launching giant balloons in the audience and the outbreak of confetti with a bang. Chris is a bomb of energy, determination and sensuality (it is quite nice). He has not stopped a moment to jump, run, and surprise everyone at one point launched into the air then the guitar has sfracassata ground. It is also demonstrated cute trying to speak in Italian several times! :) My favorite song? Can not name one! I was particularly excited Viva la Vida, Every teardrop is a waterfall, Charlie Brown, Yellow, Fix You and Paradise! This morning instead of resting, awake early, and another train to the university. I am writing this detail (apparently tralasciabile) to tell you that at 7:30 Portanuova was FULL of children dying who have spent the night there after the concert. Fantastici veramente! Really fantastic! [thanks http://poppiess.blogspot.com/2012/05/coldplay-torino-la-mia-esperienza ]
  21. The concert of Coldplay at Stadio Olimpico in Turin on May 24, 2012 is one of the events most eagerly awaited of the year. and Coldplay concert sold out (which began May 18 in Portugal, the tour) at the highest levels of popularity than ever, the ' Olympic opened the gates at 16:30 and start the race from the best seats from fans who were able to buy tickets for the lawn, but long after you populate the stands. All spectators, upon entering, have received a bracelet that will be turned on via a remote control at the beginning of the show. These are in addition to thousands of smart phones, lighters, or the new millennium. In the stands the situation is calm, there is also Chiambretti hovers over the press area with a jacket unlikely ... At 21:38 the theme of "Back to the Future" introduces Chris Martin and Co., who make their entrance on the huge stage built for the event (it is actually divided into three sections and takes up an entire corner of the Olympic Stadium) . "Torino, is there anybody out there?" I'm only 40 000, Chris! The bracelets will light up in unison in many colors, from green to red fluorescent, cell phones are in the hands of almost all the spectators, and Coldplay's start with the short instrumental "Mylo Xyloto", taken from the last self-titled album, which introduces "Hurts Like Heaven". The care of the scenery, especially as regards the effects of light, goes beyond the imagination: five huge circles from the edges glow, where movies are screened, surmounting the stage, and laser light beams of each type explode in the sky, where the last light of dusk you are out to make way for the stars and the darkness of night. The usual confetti announces launch of "In My Place", before Martin warmly greeting the public agreed with a few words in Italian, before moving to English stating that give everything they have in the body, and then "Let's fucking go!" . In fact, the quartet seems really on the ball, besides the extraordinary visual impact (of "Lovers In Japan" dozens of balls are thrown into the crowd), there's also the intimate moment with "The Scientist", where fans are starting to be heard loudly in the choruses. For "Yellow", of course, the lights become yellow: the group can live very well make the alternation between melody and parts assigned to a guitar almost Mogwai that marks one of their early classics, coming directly from their debut album " Parachutes "(2000). And 'then the turn of "Violet Hill", after which Chris still shows his familiarity with the Italian ("how are down, as were left, as you are right, how are you on the lawn?"). Meanwhile there is a strong suspicion that sti radiocontrollati bracelets are disturbing all communications within two kilometers, we hope to spend the night, while Chris is sudatissimo to the delight of little girls: he runs up and down the big stage, could almost think of fired his personal trainer ... And continues the show with "Princess Of China" (but Rihanna is present only in video), "Up In Flames" and "Warning Sign", before returning to the main stage. Our choice from the lineup is undoubtedly well-calibrated: many pieces removed from the last " Mylo Xyloto ", but there are also all songs that Coldplay historians have provided throughout their career over a decade. If they were metalheads might say pounding like blacksmiths, but they are playing and singing really well, show the highest level, sounds, colors, emotional intensity ... And 'the central moment of the show. The complex lays out "Do not Let It Break Your Heart", "Viva La Vida," "Charlie Brown" and "Paradise": the arms are all raised to the heavens, multicolored bracelets light up in time to music, the blow view is spectacular, the stage is lit almost daily. The sounds are perfect and the excitement is palpable. There is another change of stage: Coldplay disappear and reappear on the opposite side of the stadium, just behind the mixer, where there is a "C - Stage". In this place are conducted "Us Against The World" and "Speed of Sound" in acoustic version. Then back to where he had come for the grand finale. They ignite the bracelets, the play of light and then returning players here, "Clocks", "Fix You" and the true conclusion entrusted to "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall", a sudatissimo Chris Martin (they just changed t-shirts) to enhance the Olimpico crowd. Over the last few minutes it is on everything possible, even fireworks, signs "fix me chris" and bracelets that pulsate as the heart of the present honors to pay tribute to a band that just comes in its own right among the rock stars of the new millennium. At 23:14 the lights are white and Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion greet their 40,000 fans into raptures. The last image is that of the singer kissing stage. It is the generational change that seemed to come tardasse, new heroes have clean faces, are charitable, you could present them to your parents because they will never be considered a bad company, although each so fuck them too few runs. The concert Pop / Rock definitive? Yes Curtain. http://www.outune.net/livetune/concerti/coldplay-stadio-olimpico-torino-24-maggio-2012/56127 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURIN. It is understandable, even before setting foot at the Stadio Olimpico, the concert will be a performance in the round, one of those experiences where you say "I was there"; music and sounds continuously intersect with special effects, video projections and lighting . At the entrance of the stadium thousands of bracelets were distributed to the audience, still unaware of their purpose. During the second song, "In my place", the bracelets come on and off together, with music, lighting up every present in the stadium and create an extraordinary effect. . The audience becomes an active part of the choreography of the show, organized in a precise and accurate in every detail. From the stands the sight is breathtaking: forty thousand spectators, forty thousand colored lights, lights, lasers, fireworks. Without forgetting the great music andrenalinica Coldplay. Chris Martin once again warms his audience: "Good evening, Torino, we're happy to be here, let me see your hands!" With a nearly flawless Italian, while butterflies and other forms swell as improbable giant balloons in different parts of the stadium . After the concert, kneels in front of his fans thanking Italy and his extraordinary acceptance, the public continues to call wild, but eventually all leave with a smile on his face, again, Coldplay really hit the hearts the Italians, with the music but especially with the charisma of the singer. A concert event, a party in celebration that honors the city of Turin for having bet on the British band to open its summer season live. A single date, memorable, unmissable. http://www.almaradio.it/2012/05/torino-scossa-dai-40-mila-fan-dei-coldplay/
  22. With Coldplay! Grazie per avermi fatto vivere una delle serate più belle della mia vita. Thanks for letting me live one of the most beautiful evenings of my life. As you know Thursday I went to the Coldplay concert, and has proved even more surprising expectations. The lights, the bracelets that were lit up with music, fireworks at the opening of the concert and during the last song-Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall-, the stage during Viva La Vida, Charlie Brown and Paradise ... was exploding ... I could go on for another ten lines, but I'm sure that would not be enough to understand what has been exciting. Elizabeth I and we had fun a lot, to share this wonderful experience with their parents and one of the friends that I care about most was a great feeling. Thanks Dad for the great pictures you've done, we'll have some great memories of this special evening. http://www.acupofashion.com/2012/05/coldplay-live-in-turin.html Dad's pictures look to be on the Blog too :)
  23. 2000. Four boys in London surprised the world with a poignant love song, from the color of the stars. A beardless young man walking on a beach and sings his passion for a girl, as the sun begins to rise. Everything starts from here. 2012. Coldplay are pop / rock band leading the world, capable of creating a spectacular show as the one staged on May 24 at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, the only Italian date of Mylo Xyloto Tour. Beyond the visual wonders that were offered under the surface of a live show emerges forcefully advanced the great quality of the songs of the band Chris Martin, pop beads write effective and engaging melodies of these impressions in the minds and the heart. A particular that not always, nell'effervescente (sometimes ephemeral) pop world is taken into account. Although Mylo Xyloto is perhaps a job that has more shadows than lights, the fact remains that Coldplay have written in the pages of the best popular music of recent years. After watching the mini-live of Ritaora, a (s) fortunate combination of the Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga, and Marina & The Diamonds, an interesting voice, but whose songs have resulted in boredom after the first 15 minutes, we arrive at the end of our wait. After an unexpected introduction in the background with the theme of Back to the Future, the stage, composed of 5 big circles where they will be projected visuals and live images, lights and Coldplay singing the first notes of Hurts Like Heaven. Laser lights shot into the sky, fireworks explode in the stars and thousands of lights illuminate simultaneously. Absolutely brilliant idea to hand over to each of the spectators a bracelet bright, activated via wi-fi, becoming an integral part of the show, see the entire stadium (plus sold-out, these 40,000 people) of color and shine a light has been unforgettable sight. It 's time once the first classic, In My Place, and another surprise: during the song, a multitude of confetti is projected upwards and the impression is to be surrounded by millions of colorful butterflies. Such a departure for a concert I had ever seen. After the enthralling Major Minus, Lovers In Japan, from Viva La Vida (in my opinion, the album the band's most mature and complete London) sparked the crowd and the giant balloons are launched on the public: who was at a concert Muse can imagine the effect. Chris Martin, in great shape and has an amazing Italian, approaches the piano and the notes of the wonderful The Scientist invade the stage, another piece of research of the singer to the perfect pop song. In my opinion, has already written: a yellow light dominates the scene, Chris talks about how bright the stars are above us, now more than ever. Yellow. Yellow. E non c'è altro da aggiungere. And there's nothing else to add. Violet Hill and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face close the first half of the concert, it starts with the current radio single, Princess of China, which sees the presence of screens on the Rihanna virtually accompany the group. I think that this song could have been prevented in the album and we're good like cheese with chocolate. Navigate to the bottom of a walkway that goes to finish in the audience, Coldplay perform Up in Flames and the sweet Warning Sign, with Chris in command of a flamboyant upright piano. He returns to center stage for Do not Let It Break Your Heart and the real mantra of the band: Viva la Vida, already received the first live with choirs from all over the stadium, is pure joy, where the audience becomes one with the group, thrilling musical alchemy. The party continues with Charlie Brown and Paradise, after which they disappear Coldplay and pop behind all, near the bottom of the stadium, on a small stage where he runs the intimate Us Against The World and an acoustic version of Speed Of Sound with all members of the band close to each other, seeming almost just four friends playing for fun. The final trick is memorable: the exciting Clocks, Fix You sound a running start and then Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, pure rhythm. An evening of great music and entertainment events, visual and technical equipment of last generation, an audience in raptures. And above all, a guy who sang the stars. [thanks Alexander Jordan 2000. http://rivistapaperstreet.wordpress.com/2012/05/26/coldplay-stadio-olimpico ]
  24. have a look in the live section. the setlist is pretty similar for most shows so far :)
  25. Clocks - the day it's dropped from the setlist I'll be absolutely gutted. it's the song that stood out for me at the first show I went to, and I formed a special connection with it that day. the change from green to red lasers affected me slightly, but then came the rainbow lasers... Charlie Brown - although not as much as I was before. In December, the beat just made me jump, and this time I'll have to be content with jumping in my heart because physical jumping just isn't an option.
