  1. a) its my job :D b) I read things fast :) going into work today and not having finished it would be rubbish because for some random reason people expect you to have read it in minutes, and if I don't some friendly customers would tell me who dies before I get to the relevant bit. I don't know why, but after the Order of the Phoenix I was expecting it to be quite dark again. There wasn't anything really that happened, it just moved the series plot from A to B. and i don't understand the whole thing with Ginny, it played along with Dean quite slowly then was suddenly over and done with she's seeing the next guy and then we're at the end and we can't do it anymore. I think there was too much scene-setting for the last book and not enough action for this book.
  2. just finished it. was it me or was that not as good as the last one? It felt like she was just filling in a couple of plot lines before tying it all up in the next book. I don't think anything much really happened apart from the death and even then it wasn't exactly a huge moment.
  3. Yeehah! Finished in just under 22 hours with a nice long break to catch up on some sleep. Now off to start a spoilers thread
  4. daft question Albie my dear, I dress ace all the time of course :P

  10. Sssssssssshhhhhhh!! I have a few more hours before I have to go into work and face the madness!! For those wanting the book, its now 11:49am so you have 12 hours and 50 mins to wait :stunned:
  11. No reason for this in the announcement forum but wouldn't want to spoil your fun by deleting it. So lets welcome the thread to its new home in the lounge!
  12. happ slapping is a ridiculous new craze over here. the mild version is when your friend comes up behind you & smacks you on the head whilst another mate secretly films it on their video phone. it then gets sent to other people. the more serious version is when little thugs do it and seriously injure people just for a laugh and to send the video to their mates. in that case the kids tied this other kid to a tree and set the tree on fire whilst they filmed him. thats why I think happy slapping is a stupid name for the papaers to use because if you suffered those sorts of injuries in any other way it would be classed as assault

  15. whilst we're busy cutting the numbers in the British Army!
  16. its one of those things I've lived with since I was 14 and first went shopping in M'cr city centre. there was always the possibility of IRA bombings, it wasn't til 4 years later that one actually happened but you were always aware it might happen.
  17. as they were syaing in the letters pages in some of the newspapers today, its all very well saying Londoners were brave getting back on the tube, but for some of them there's no other way to get too work. so whether you're frightened or not you'll get on the tube if you want to get to work
  18. dunno, my entire knowldege of Us politics comes from series 1 of The West Wing :D was definitely the Us govt who decided to ban them from london.
  19. When will they stop using this name. There's a postivie sound to it but its pure and simple GBH. Stop using trendy sounding soundbites. Quite sure this poor kid is not happy. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/4679713.stm
  20. It was whatever you call the military fella who hangs around the White house, I think. Was definitely from the US military anyways Dubya??  nah! there's some big chief fella who has had a proper army career and has the uniform to prove it. no idea what the official name is, but on West Wing he's the one who always walks round looking really serious & advises Martin Sheen on what he should be doing
  21. Have been put off kids totally by a book i just read. Its called A Special Relationship. From the cover and the blurb on the back it sounded like a nice romance book but a bit more intellectual. it even started like one but then OMG. Before i knew it, I was stuck in a novel that was graphically detailing the hell of pre-eclampsia, followed by severe post-natal depression, and then baby snatching by obnoxious husbands. I don't know how Douglas kennedy got his info, but his descriptions of the post-natal description were exceptionally vivid and scared the life out of me. Oh, i would like a little girl though. She has to have Ian's coloured hair, and its going to grow long enough for me to plait it every day. She won't have to wear pink because it'll clash with her hair! And uncle Stephen is going to take her to the park to play on the swings :D
  22. COCKTAILS OR BLENDER DRINKS WITH UMBRELLA Personality: Flaky, annoying, dizzy, and a pain in the ass. Approach: Avoid her, unless you want to be her cabin boy. MIXED DRINKS - NO UMBRELLAS E.G.; GIN AND TONIC / SCOTCH AND SODA Personality: Mature, has picky taste; knows what she wants Approach: If she wants you, she’ll send YOU a drink. BACARDI BREEZER, RED SQUARE, ARCHERS COOLER, SMIRNOFF ICE, MUDSHAKE ETC. Personality: Easy; thinks she is trendy and sophisticated actually has no clue. Approach: Make her feel smarter than she is... and you’re in. Hmmm, depending on what mood i'm in depends what I'm drinking, so does that make me a mix of all three? there's definitely some contradictions then!!! And what's wrong with Vodka mudshake, its just like drinking chocoalte milk but has vodka in it, surely that's just an amazing idea!!!!!
  23. and still it goes on.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/4678127.stm
