  1. Hmm... well so far the ratios are turning out about how I expected...
  2. As long as you make any changes to the post I have linked to on the first page, that is what will count, no update notes needed. When I count up the votes, I go down that list, so whatever pops up gets counted. That's why it's so important to make sure I have the right copy of your list linked to.
  3. Funny, I usually do the opposite- if there's a little album I really love I'll bump it up a few places in the hopes of helping it make the top 50.
  4. Hurrah! We hit the 50 lists mark! Thanks, everyone. Keep them coming- we have until tonight Thanks :nice: And welcome to the board. :D
  5. How many Dec 09 albums should be on the list? Vampire Weekend's Contra came out at the very, very beginning of January and it's going to be high on many lists including mine. It's too good to be forgotten. ...Which is the way it should work, I think.
  6. I usually order through HMV if I really want a physical copy. I'd order online if I was getting enough at once to make it cheaper even with the shipping, but that never happens. When I don't care about the quality so much, I get them off iTunes.
  7. ^Random is good. :nice: Personally, it's a really tough choice. I really do prefer them shuffled together. But the New Order one is just a little too poppy, and Thom's one makes me a bit too antsy when I'm in the wrong mood. So Doves it is. :D
  8. That one is one of the all-time new-Who greats. :D ^
  9. Random world of music song poll for the day: Three songs released within 4 years of each other. All are electronic. All are by artists from or into the Manchester music scene. Two were singles, one was a b-side. Weirdly enough they sound great shuffled together. Which do you prefer? In chronological order: New Order - Jetstream [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ATU6mdSnNo]YouTube - New Order - Jetstream[/ame] Thom Yorke - Jetstream [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua9eEdB7PdE]YouTube - Radiohead [Thom Yorke]- Jetstream (Subtitulado al español).avi[/ame] Doves - Jetstream [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJ1X1tlJSI]YouTube - Doves - Jetstream (Kingdom of Rust)[/ame]
  10. Having now listened to all three, I vote for Runaway. ...By Ladytron [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHMynl9QX7g]YouTube - Ladytron - Runaway [Official Music Video][/ame]
  11. If it's any consolation, it's really, really killing me that I can't put the Tron Legacy soundtrack on my list since it came out in December. :mean: I think in terms of the history of electronic music it's something really special and significant and I like listening to it too. Yes, it will be hard to remember it for next year's list. BUT (*sigh*) it WILL be eligible for next years list and unless there is a torrent of other more significant albums, it will show up on next years list. :sweatdrop:
  12. Ok, but what I mean is, a geek would get it. The purely geeky reaction is something like: It was written for the Calivin and Hobbes sort of geeks who go 'that had dinosaurs. Dinosaurs with laser beams coming out of their eyes. How could it not be awesome?' Some people get it an some people don't. Doesn't mean it was a bad episode, just means it wasn't for everyone.
  13. ^Yeah, chef robots are tricky. They need too much programing. I like soldering and playing with wires and things. Programming... :bomb:
  14. Wait, Crests isn't Crests anymore? But... who, what? :dizzy: :uhoh:
  15. Haven't heard either yet. :uhoh: I have very little patience for Kanye and I've really tried to get into the National, but...
  16. Hello. :D Sure! :nice: Thanks, but I solder. I don't know how to weld. :p I already have a store-bought vacuuming robot. I partially based my final project robot on how it moves. Useless pet robots that do cool tricks are more fun to build. Plus, if they're a pet rather than a cleaning slave, they're less likely to revolt and lead a robot uprising to destroy us all. :uhoh:
  17. I feel sorry for you. :( Although on the bright side I suppose, you can definitely legitimately deny being a geek.
  18. :laugh3: Somehow I don't really believe you... The cutoff date has always been mid-December, so The Fix being released Dec 25th wouldn't have counted if it was any other year either. The poll just had to go a little late this year. Because in the past early December was such a fuzzy complicated time, being eligible for two years, I decided to reduce confusion once and for all, and set a hard cutoff date of December 1st. The idea is to give all those end-of-year slow-burners a chance to actually get a following and make next year's list. If I let you vote for the fix now, it would get a grand total of one vote. Since it's eligible for next year's list, it might get several votes once people are more aware of it. That's the thinking. Also, you forgot Katy Parry on your list. :P
  19. Ha, Fish! :D That was ridiculous. I loved it. (But seriously Rose, don't touch the baby.)
  20. Rather than type out a long list of links to previous polls in the rules post, I'm putting the list of links here and linking to it. :dizzy: Voting and discussion threads: 2006 2007 2008 2009 Countdowns: 2006 2007 2008 2009 (never did finish up last year's countdown thread  :embarrassed:)
  21. ^Because this is a British-based international board, and it's easy to hear international releases these days, the rule is that the official release date for these lists is whichever of the two came first: the British release date or the American release date. Since Sigh No More's first UK/US release date was October 2009, and it was a very popular entry on the 2009 list (#20), it is considered a 2009 album. Hope that clears it up. :)
  22. Aw, thanks everybody. :nice: electronics. I can build my own robots now. :wacky:
  23. ^I won't. The prospects are pretty good in my field, but yeah the job market for anyone under 35 is generally terrible right now...
  24. That's weird, I thought you had too. Hmm. Maybe the thread monster ate it. Added! :D New lists still welcome, everyone!
