An awful lot of people round 96-era Oasis were inspired by Oasis. Hence bands like Coldplay. I suppose it was mainly the UK and Ireland but still, Coldplay have yet to catch the feeling of the times as Oasis did.

My 2 cents. Oasis defined a generation. Coldplay are "nice" and have more radio play in the states. It all depends on what you're looking for. To me, Oasis are/were bigger than Coldplay will ever be for that simple fact.

DBTT kicks X&Ys ass as it has some semblance of soul. X&Y's just cold. And come on lads, Fix You is no where near as good as anything on AROBTTH, no matter how much ye try to convince yerselves.

I dont know. I've listened to the album a LOT since I posted this and some of the lyrics still make me cringe. Ah well, to each his own.

Era, what's "pop" and what's "rock" anyways? Does rock mean Zeppelin or the Beatles? Is pop Britney Spears or the Beach Boys? Who knows. Who cares. Just enjoy it for what it is and dont be worried if you cant place its genre.

Just finished listening to the album for the first time and I must say, its better than I expected after hearing some of the flack its been getting. But christ, Swallowed in the Sea. The lyrics. What the f*ck!? Rhyming tree with me with see!? and self with self. Surely he had enough time in the 3 year recording period to come up with something better than that. Ruins a lovely song
