  1. No problemo! There's such great stuff on youtube, I find something new every day!!
  2. No one does Didz/Anthony..........:wink3:
  3. Drew has a message to everyone who posts stupid shit in that thread: In fact, I think I'm going to make that my avi. I know I always change it, but lmfao. It's how I feel a lot of the time on here. Oy, Andy, then I bet you haven't seen the Newsnight interview! Best ever :nice: Here ya are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGmBmb2Jjkc Have you seen 'Hired Gun' yet? It was the first thing I ever saw of him, and although it might be Peter in a bad place, I think it's really...... tragically beautiful? That's really what Peter is. He's not "clean" (not really talking drug use here ;) ), he's not a saint. But he's saintly? Very interesting. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGmBmb2Jjkc
  4. LMFAO ANDY. OMG LMFAO. They both came out of the forest together! :uhoh: Oh boy. Too many setting sails on the Albion ship for me! Didz is the cutest man ever. Really. He doesn't really come across as it in pictures, but he's dead sexy in person (Steph'll vouch for this I'm sure!). It's almost shocking. It's funny, I was thinking about it today and Didz was the first guy I liked in the Libs camp, even before Peter? Certainly says a lot :laugh4: And some pretties...
  5. Amen, Andy. Thank you! I felt very alone in here for a bit! :\
  6. :sneaky: This should please Steph and the like! lmfao, he's so cute! He can never be serious in photos, I love that. What a bastard to photograph though!!! :laugh4: Sir Carlos... siiigh mmhmm...
  7. lmfao, I'm in a really deep mood today for some reason! dunno why! I guess I was just getting tired of myself. I didn't have much music to listen to, which is kind of a scary feeling for me. I actually really hated Peter, I bought into all the news articles posted on here and thought he was an utter moron. But there was something that intrigued me? I suppose it was the "wait, who the fuck is he?" mentality. So I listened to 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' and watched the video........ it was like it opened a whole new world up to me. The music that doesn't reach America, that no one seems to really care that much about. I didn't know who I was before I got into the Libertines. But so many other bands followed. It was as though they just.... clarified my mind and showed me who I am? I can't explain it, but this summer I really discovered myself, and the Libertines happened to be the soundtrack to that. Believe it or not (believe it), but the Libertines lyrics also got me very interested in literature (Wilde, Blake, Yeats and the like) that I had never been into before. There are a lot of illusions in the songs that I wanted to understand, so I read a ton of books that Peter had either mentioned in an interview or a song (Dorian Gray for example). Literature and poetry is now my current "obsession" of sorts, as it never had been before. I'm thinking of studying it in college. To me, that's pretty life changing, since before I listened to them I didn't know where I wanted to go, study or be! But mainly they've just made me more confident with myself, and for me that's the most important thing.
  8. It doesn't matter if it's 4, or 40,000 lives. It doesn't matter if it's NME or Rolling Stone. It doesn't matter if it's a platinum, a gold or nothing. A local band can change a life. The Libertines changed mine. This is why I get miffed. It's personally insulting to me for someone to dismiss me like that, I get it a lot lately. I'm not a dirty person, I'm not a drug addict. I'm a music fan. I love Coldplay. I love the Libertines. I love BabyShambles. I love U2. If you want to know why Peter is my hero, then listen to Up The Bracket with your eyes closed, in the dark of your room. It certainly altered my perception, which is quite a nice thing. Blindness is soooo very useless!
  9. Wow, way to insult the fans of the Libertines/Shambles/DPT's MUSIC on here. Real nice. Read this, it says more to you people than any of us ever could. They didn't care about nu metal or Britpop. These complex people wanted to do something very simple: be in the greatest British band that ever picked up a guitar. In the short time they existed, the Libertines accomplished the impossible: on their own they kickstarted a new British music renaissance, from Franz Ferdinand to Kaiser Chiefs to Arctic Monkeys. They erased the barrier with fans, they inspired thousands to follow, they gave away entire albums of material for free on the internet with a determination that shocked major labels. And where it's safer to hide under a carapace of irony rather than reveal your true feelings, they've been wincingly honest. Yet much of the media have failed to grasp the band or what they really mean, falling for live-fast-die-young cliches and trying to pin on them fabulous notions of a Sid Vicious obsession. At a time when the media has been long confident that it can spot ever feint and shift of music, they've united in a strange echo of the censorious past. Headlines pleading for Kate Moss to abandon Junkie Pete have the dinstinct echo of the ramblings of the 1960s tabloids: 'Would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone?' The songs The Libertines created are the equal of anyone's in the history of British music. At the same time, they are the classic British band: a band with the finest frontline duo since The Clash and as inspirational as the Smiths. Their breathtaking live performances, teetering on the edge of disaster, were greater than those of Radiohead, Oasis or Nirvana. Original and blindingly beautiful, they blazed brightly, never compromising, never selling out. --Excerpt (fucking TYPED UP from the book by me) from The Libertines: Bound Together by Anthony Thornton and Roger Sargent. So before you go off on your high and mighty rant about "what's he ever done that's good for us?" why don't you realize that Peter (and Carlos, who we must remember is no saint either) has actually saved people from commiting suicide, saved people from depression overtaking them, saved and CHANGED their lives (certainly has changed mine). All because of the MUSIC. Realize that before you chastise us again. Because he's done that for me. He's done that just as Chris Martin has. So right now, you just don't know what you're talking about. lmfao, funny though. Sell a few thousand more records and you can shoot up as much as you like! What a fuckin' double standard.
  10. Cuz they just so are :P haha
  11. California Governor Vetoes Two More 'Gay Agenda' Bills CNSNews.com ^ | September 29, 2006 | By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor CNSNews.com) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed all three "sexual indoctrination" bills passed earlier this year. Conservative activists said Schwarzenegger was responding to election-year pressure from "irate parents and grandparents." Advocates for homosexuality said the veto leaves California students "vulnerable to bias and intimidation based on sexual orientation and gender identity." Late Thursday, Schwarzenegger vetoed Assembly Bill 606, which would have required that state funds be withheld from any school district that does not adopt a "model policy" prohibiting discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Critics say the bill would have forced schools to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality on school campuses. Supporters called it the "Safe School Act," and they said AB 606 -- in addition to creating a "model anti-discrimination and harassment policy for school districts" -- would have required schools to track and document all bias-related complaints brought by students. AB 1056, also vetoed on Thursday, would have allocated special funds for a Tolerance Education Pilot Program to teach kids about "tolerance and intergroup relations," including "actual or perceived gender." "We thank God that children in California public schools will be protected from this direct assault for one more year," said Randy Thomasson, president of the Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a conservative, pro-family organization. "The Democrat politicians and teacher unions are relentlessly pushing to sexually indoctrinate kids. Schwarzenegger has delayed them for now." In his veto messages, Schwarzenegger said he vetoed AB 606 because it was "irresponsible" to create a new state mandate on schools, and he noted that existing laws already deal with discrimination and harassment in the schools. The governor said he vetoed AB 1056 because it duplicated current efforts to provide "more avenues to teach about tolerance and human rights." Earlier this month, Schwarzenegger vetoed SB 1437, which would have changed school textbooks to require positive portrayals of transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality. The Campaign for Children and Families thanked everyone who called and wrote to the governor. "Cherish the victory and pray to God that these sexual indoctrination bills never, ever return," Thomasson said. But activists on the other side of the issue expressed disappointment. They said Schwarzenegger, in vetoing AB 606, has rejected a "simple nondiscrimination bill" that would have strengthened existing protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students in public schools. "Some California schools are choosing to ignore the current law prohibiting discrimination and harassment of LGBT students, and to veto a bill that would help enforce that law is shameful," said Geoff Kors, executive director of Equality California. "The governor is ignoring the needs of students who are teased and bullied because they are or are perceived to be LGBT. The governor claims to have spent most of his life fighting discrimination and teaching children about tolerance, yet he has vetoed every bill he has seen that would do just that." Supporters of AB 606 point to studies showing that LGBT students are more likely than their peers to use drugs, consider suicide, be victimized by violence, or carry a weapon to school. "By declining to sign AB 606, the governor has let these students down," said the bill's sponsor, Democratic Assemblymember Lloyd Levine. But conservatives thanked Schwarzenegger for taking a stand against what they describe as the sexual indoctrination of children -- and the use of public schools to force acceptance of immoral behavior under the guise of political correctness. 12. Did someone photoshop that first one? Matt's nose seems to.... just end...?
  13. I've thought about leaving the board for a little while now.... But I stay because I found you girls, who are a merger of my favorite people in the world, Coldplay fans and Lib fans ;) I really feel like this is the only thread that I fit in with now. Everyone else is so judgemental. The Libertines are SO opposite Coldplay, so I can kind of see the immediate dislike (frankly, I was shocked to find this thread to begin with!).... They're imperfect, they have drug problems, they shot up and burnt out fast.... They're brilliant though. They always will be, as are the off shoots. My most ready comparison I can make with the Libertines is the early Rolling Stones, specifically the rock 'n roll decadence they went through in the 70s (Exile on Main Street is the most brilliant record of theirs ever, but it was written coming out of some extremely hard drug use times). I'm in no way trying to insinuate that drugs lead to brilliance, not at all. I'm just saying that sometimes they play a factor in the HISTORY of it. People don't become genius' with drugs, obviously Peter didn't (poet from birth, basically!). So why rag on someone because of what they do with their extra curriculars? Because it's easy, I suppose. Because everyone likes a scape goat. Because I suppose Pete is like the Paris Hilton equivalent in the UK? You know, a complete idiot running around doing shit and no one knows why the hell he/she ever got hte opportunity to get in the papers. Everyone loves a train wreck, we all slow down to look at a smashed car and a dead body. That's not to say it's right in any way. I know I don't. But people around here (specifically Mark) seem to :laugh4: I'll stop myself, because I can feel myself getting a little nasty inside and I don't want someone to come in here and read anything. I'm not interested in fighting with people. But Peter is a beautiful human being, so I believe he deserves all the defense and credit we can give him. I'll refrain from calling Coldplay fans pussies, but god some of them should grow up. People do drugs. People fight. People punch others. Shit goes down. Do we always have to make that the be all, end all for a person's personality? And honestly, I bet the people who ramble on in the Pete hate thread have never listened to 'Music When The Lights Go Out' or danced around alone to 'Up The Bracket' when they needed to be lifted up the most. I pity them. I truly do. Whatever, you see these two cold fingers? These crooked fingers I show....
  14. Yeah, because I'm one big crackhead and the only reason I listen to the Libertines music is because Pete and Carl shoot up. Frankly, that statement is incredibly insulting to me. :laugh4: And I'm sure it would surprise a lot of you, but Libertines fans (and the bands that shot off from them) are actually the nicest people in the world. Not potheads at all! Interesting, since Pete is such a HORRIBLE role model, right? Really weird! And here's the million dollar question, what's your views towards the Rolling Stones? They made some pretty cool music, right? Funny, if I think back I believe they had some drug problems as well...... Very strange. So before you chastise the music or people, think about the fact that some of the music deemed as "classic" today was recorded under the influence of very hard drugs. Don't be hypocrits, please. That's all I say. And the only reason I'm rambling on about this is because I know I'm speaking for a group of people on here who I know feel the same way. Whatever. Thanks for making the hate thread. *unsubscribes*
  15. How beautiful is this video? It's been awhile since I've seen the Newsnight interview, I like how this person took the performance out. What a tune. :nice:
  16. Anthony looks flippin' amazing in red, you're right. Oh god, Carlos. :laugh4: Not exactly the epitone of fashion. But we love him :nice:
  17. If I were Pete a pap would be dead by now. I'm not joking. I'd fucking kill them. Stupid cunts should go leech on someone else for once.
  18. Figuring as no one else but we awesome people visit this thread, can I just say I'm really fucking sick of the articles of Pete constantly getting posted? He just posts them because he doesn't like Peter and likes to open a can of worms constantly. It's fucking lame and I honestly can't stand it anymore. I don't care if I'm riding a high horse in that other thread, if I am then I like it up here. I like how Ian posts news articles in band's threads, like the U2 one? And no one posts all the shit articles about Chris and Gwyn all the time in the Coldplay area (are there even those articles anymore? I don't think so actually but you get what I mean). It's fucking annoying. Just makes the song quote in my profile more poignant though! :laugh4: And it'd be nice if people DID make a Peter hate thread so they could all just take their idiocy there and I wouldn't have to read it all the time all over the place. I'm so fucking pissy with people on here lately. It's like everybody but us who post in here are just judgemental towards me. So I listen to the Libertines a trillion times more than I listen to Coldplay (Which I believe has become fairly obvious, since I only live in this music section lmfao)? So what. It doesn't stop me from posting here. Oy vey.
  19. Oh, and I've just got a request. Maybe with future articles you could post them in the Libs/Shambles/DPT thread instead of making a whole new thread. I think it'd just be more helpful to the people who actually know Peter's history and who he is now to judge him instead of the people who only hear the Sun's version ;) Every stories the same, so maybe even make a Peter bash thread? That way I don't have to scroll past so many of these every other week :laugh4: I'd only have to scroll by one constantly!
  20. lmfao, is every article on Pete true? No, so the likelyhood of that being true is insanely slim. And if it is, still no one's business. lmfao, potty. Awww, Peter's our cute little lunatic. That's ok. I happen to think insanity is sexy :wacky:
  21. Oh yay, another one of these threads to add to the pile! :D Honestly, can't we call someone else potty for once? It's all so tiring. Sources are nice, so I can know how falsified this is. I'm not being blindly defensive, but "journalists" who resort to petty uninitiated name calling are obviously not credible and lack responsibility.
