  1. I can't believe I'm reading such ignorance. I'm truly speechless. :stunned:
  2. Revenge for what?? This is truly tragic, but the earth quakes are nothing 'new', certainly has nothing to do with 'vengence'. This is a living planet, and like all living things will continuously change in ways small and large. We are in an age of lightning quick information - every tragedy great and small brought before our eyes seconds after fingertips touch keys. Nothing has changed except the level of rapid fire information via internet, satellite tv, cell phones.. the earth will continue to move long after we're dead just as it has millions of years before we took our first breaths.
  3. I'm just sitting here in shock - is there nothing no tragedy that won't be used as a weapon to knock at the US?? How can you or anybody else say that "nobody's helping"; watch the news much? I know many here loathe the US, loathe our President, many I guess simply loathe our success (I take a good look sometimes at the comments people post and it just saddens me that it appears to spawn from a chasm of base jealousy.. then gathers steam with every 'opportunity' to blame the US yet again for something). What I don't understand is that we're damned if we do - damned if we don't. If we get there too quickly?? We're just trying to 'exsert influence'. Too slow?? We just plain do care. Countless charities (faith and non faith based) Tens of millions in pledged donations from the US Govt. alone.. after billions seemingly needed for disasters on our own soil. Pakistani's who are US citizens raising funds along with their communities to help. Military aid Schools Churches Businesses.. Yeah, we could really care less.
  4. So horrific, I don't know what else to say. I pray for them.
  5. "for example alot of american soldiers thought they would be welcome with open arms in Iraq in their opinion their cause was justified but some Iraqis saw it as the oppostie. " Do you know any American Soldiers stationed or previously stationed in Iraq? I do, maybe you should ask them personally. Many still are welcomed, but the people there are understandably guarded - many Iraqi's are murdered by their fellow Allah loving Muslim brothers from other nations simply for being percieved to being friendly to American forces. They are greatful, but you won't see any of this sort of modest gratitude on CNN because it simply wouldn't jibe with anti-administration bent narcissism against this war. That gratitude is shown not with mugging for the cameras waving an American Flag (which could surely get you killed) but with simple smiles and "thank yous". You'd be amazed the differences between what you see on television, and what the troops themselves have to say. It isn't the Iraqi people who don't want us there - if they have any hope at democracy they need our support until they can stand alone.
  6. Peace can be subjective could it not? Your idea of peace may be different from mine.
  7. I appreciate that, as I base my conclusions to politely dissagree based on the same. That's the beauty of civility.
  8. I wouldn't vote for anyone based on what they have or don't have between their legs. I would vote for Condi in a heartbeat.
  9. Peace, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
  10. Absolutely correct. Interesting though, in the Blumethal article(no, the 'Former Clinton advisor' didn't escape me) posted in a few posts later on in this thread - nowhere did it mention that the efforts in the 60's of the enviormental group 'Save our Wetlands' thwarted the building of a flood control gate on Lake Ponchartrain to ease strains on the levees in the course of a cat 3 or greater hurricane. Sometimes I have a feeling it's going to get where the weatherman/lady will start blaming Bush when it's overcast. Former lib sends.
  11. "my son started preschool just last month and they teach them the pledge minus the "under God" part - which i just think is not the true pledge of allegiance to me. i said it in school for 12 years, and i think i turned out just fine. it is just another incident of political correctness gone awry." I agree.
  12. ^ Sorry I can't put this any other way, but I do think 9/11 does have quite a bit to do with politics... More specifically, how America runs her politics/policies. Its attitude towards other nations (especially since Clinton left office) is narcissistic & egocentric, and certainly incites a lot of hate and despair. That 9/11 was a terrorist event that killed 3,000 innocents is not in dispute, but I do think that this event happening was not inevitable. The only difference between 9-11-01 and the 1993 bombing of the trade center was poor planning and available funding.. certainly not the president. The fact that Clinton was able to skate relatively unscathed regarding terrorist aggresion tells me more about what he did do than didn't. Trying to make 9-11 any more than what it was is insane. When I was speaking about "politcs" - politics as dirty as it can get still demands a certain level of respect and protocol. As much as Bush is maligned by say, Ted Kennedy.. you don't see GW throwing a left hook and threatening his family. Politics is when you speak, when you can communicate. What happened with 9-11 is what happenes when a 2 year old doesn't get their way and wreaks havoc. Or for that matter a 12 year old. And this.. Nice words, but they don't apply. Regardless who is president of our country - when foreign nations needed help and $, we're there regardless of who's in office. That did not change with Bush. Because we don't pimp our sovereignty like a cheap hooker doesn't make us "narcissistic & egocetric" - it makes us smart. ps.. what's up with your flag?
  13. One, I don't know where you got the "Bush is resigning" info - but it's false. Second "He never said it was a letter from all america, he clearly said "a letter from michael moore" Well, I'm a known republican (former Democrat - but this was back when I thought I knew everything) .. I'll get back to you on that (MM's 'truth') but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'll sooner see Hammer pants come back in style than find a grain of honest truth from MM. As far as a 'joke' of the rest of the world. If that's what you care about, fine.. but I don't live my life by the 'rest of the world's' leave, and neither does our country. What is a joke are the folks who've reaped the benefits of our nation, but are so eager to impress their buddies overseas they'll mock everything they can about our nation as long as it gains them some points. But as soon as the sh*t hits the fan, who do they look to? What really turned me off the Democratic party years ago was how low and irrational the left were willing to take their arguments; "Don't agree with us? You're a Nazi." I'd rather be right and alone, than wrong with company.
  14. At that time I lived 40 min south of DC. I had just started my duties for the day at work. I worked at an animal hospital where much of our clients are military affiliated (myself a former active duty US Coastguardsman, my husband active CG at the time). I heard alot of commotion upstairs and walked up to see what was going on in the break room. There were half a dozen or so standing around the TV. I saw one of the Towers with a huge plume of smoke trailing from it, and too thought "this has to be an accident".. until I saw the second explosion. The community I lived in (Woodbridge) and surrounding communties had many military families and other government employees - some of whom worked at the Pentagon, one of which lived just houses down from mine.. she did not make it. I cannot express my utter dismay and sadness at those who turned an act of evil, extremist terror.. into a conspiracy theorist's wet-dream ala Michael Moore. Where nothing else matters other than to eviscerate the President because he happened to of the 'wrong' party. Sept 11th 2001 had nothing to do with partisan politics.. it had EVERYTHING to so with exreme contempt so evil wrought from nothing more than an insane jealousy over our liberties.. of which I see more and more taking for granted and mocking contemptuously everyday.
  15. Michael Moore does not speak for all Americans, he doesn't even speak for most of us. He's a pompous, self-inflated fool and I have zero respect for him.
  16. In my best Elvis.. Thankyewwwwww, thankyew verrrrrrry muuuuch!
  17. Starvation Heights by Gregg Olsen. It's a true story that happened at the turn of the last century that occurred about 5 minutes from where I now live. You couldn't make this up, it's a fascinating read!

Nice to see this place exists - I'm a huge CP fan. Take care, Flora.
  19. Other than the obvious, would be this new fellow (new to most I'd imagine) named Howie Day. I think he's incredible. If you've never heard of him, his cd 'Stop All The World Now' is definitely worth a listen. I've worn that out almost as much as my CP cd's.
