Lot of good stuff from American artists in the last year.
  4. By all means, stick it in your sig. Those who don't get it are unfortunate because they couldn't have been apart of all this. :D

  11. sarcastic irony? is that a double negative? like, I'm being ironic, but in a sarcastic way? haha what? And for the record I'm almost ALWAYS being sarcastic.
  12. My favorite is the Golden Slumbers medley. It got me out of a rough time in my life. It's such a beautiful, moving piece of work.

Well of course. But there's only so much one can say to someone who didn't think their argument through and spends the rest of the time trying to save face.
  14. Oh what else was I going to say. Right. Treefingers is very unifying of HTDC and MPS, too. And I suppose even a little bit EIIRP and Kid A. It is an anchor, I suppose you could say.
  15. I do love Treefingers. I was actually kind of stunned when I found out a lot of RH fans think it's one of their lesser songs.

The simple fact is, you can't argue about quality of music. It's all subjective and nobody gets anywhere. It creates chaos.
  17. Well.. You DO live in Canada. So what do you know. :D

Maybe we should put up videos too of all the covers Radiohead has done. Covers done, obviously, out of hate for the original artist.

"In interviews Yorke has cited a variety of personal musical heroes and influences, including jazz composer and bassist Charles Mingus, Neil Young, singer Scott Walker, electronic acts Aphex Twin and Autechre, and Krautrock band Can. Talking Heads, Queen, Joy Division, Magazine, Elvis Costello, The Smiths and Sonic Youth were early influences on Radiohead and Yorke. In 2004, at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Yorke mentioned to the crowd, "When I was in college, the Pixies and R.E.M. changed my life,"[29] and he has often mentioned both bands as examples."
  22. I know. He did get me with the "you haven't told me why my argument is unintelligent" so I did an exhaustive quote by quote explanation for him about why he is a CUNT.
  23. Oh man. That "radiohead is poor" thread just completely takes it out of me. I need a spa.

If you'll read through this thread, you'll find plenty of people who have done just that. Not true. They praise artists. Just not as often as, say, Chris Martin. Radiohead simply aren't as radio--or tv--friendly, and aren't in the press as much. You wouldn't know about them praising fellow musicians because they're not "hollywood" as Chris Martin has become. Something has to be wrong when many trained and well educated music critics like Radiohead and think they're intelligent, and you don't. Not to say that a critic's opinion is gold, but generally, they know more than you do. That is subjective. And I have never called anyone unintelligent for not "getting" Radiohead, and I've never known anyone to be forced into thinking they're great out of fear of being thought of as stupid. The people I think are unintelligent are people who make statements like this. Again, that's subjective. But just because YOU don't like his voice, doesn't mean he can't sing. Chris Martin's got great respect for Thom Yorke, and has praised him many times. This is where your argument gets ridiculous. Since WHEN do record sales equal talent? Coldplay are indeed a more accessible band. More people can like them because their music is less abstract and experimental. Their lyrics are more obvious and easier to relate to. They're very pretty to look at and seem wholesome. Chris Martin is married to a movie star. The love Coldplay gets is more superficial, because songs like "Clocks" and "Viva La Vida" are catchy tunes that a WIDE RANGE of audiences tend to like. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH SKILL LEVEL. just to reiterate, that is a flimsy argument and cannot, by itself, be a reason for one band to be considered crap. Yeah. Well, they're the fucking Beatles, aren't they? Flawed statement. Because, as I stated before, Coldplay's music is more accessible. They're celebrity, tabloid, radio, and grammy friendly. Just because a band is loved by more people, doesn't make them a better band, or even mean they are "more loved". Twat.
