u2 have achieved things the beatles never did - longevity, sticking together, breaking new ground as a live act, and uniting their fans to impact the body politik. i hope in the long run coldplay will be similar to u2 in this respect.

yes well its still an outtake thats what i meant, but is BETTER, u2 should of hired me to help produce this album. i'm going to have to agree that some of the outtakes and especially the demo of mercy (i love it!) are more enjoyable for me than some of the HTDAAB tracks. i dislike a man and a woman and miracle drug IMMENSELY. if anyone is interested, i have a live track of the rolling stones with bono on guest vocals here: http://scatterolight.blogspot.com/2006/02/not-that-theres-anything-wrong-with-it.html

i'm a u2 fan since 1983, and coldplay is my number 2 band. i've only seen coldplay live once, and i thought they were great, but comparisons between the 2 bands just seem very silly to me. they really are very different in a lot of ways - as performers, chris and bono are not alike in any way shape or form. anyway, i've usually got lots of u2 mp3s on my site if anyone is interested: http://scatterolight.blogspot.com/

chris has this in common with bono: because he has a serious persona, the mainstream press takes everything he says seriously even when he is obviously saying something off the cuff/joking, etc. but hip hop beats and coldplay would NOT be a bad thing. we all know how much chris loves missy elliot and timbaland. bring it on, yo!

oh man, what the F is up with that r. kelly bit? that seemed like a way out there and bizarre ploy to avoid singing :) (but he can actually sing.) that trapped in the closet thing is an interesting piece of theater... anyone know when the boys are coming on?? i think they should appear at the very end and close the show with a bang. (i thought the killers were pretty good)

when i first saw the setlists being posted, i thought the show was a few songs short. but i just saw the show at tweeter center in MA and i have to say it was the perfect length. of course there were songs they did not play that i would have loved to have heard, but when you play bigger venues, you bring in a lot of casual fans, and you have to cater to them a bit in order to create an overall enthusiasm in the crowd. a half hour full of lesser known songs would put a lot of those people to sleep unfortunately.

oh no, i agree the crowd overall was good. you get a few people no matter what show you are at who are not so into it. my sister and i were there together and we were singing along to every song. this was my first coldplay show and i was very impressed.

i think they were playing the live coldplay cd on the radio, but not live from last night cause it was starting at 8 p.m. on the radio. i was at tweeter center and i thought it was awesome as well. when chris took off into the stands during "in my place", that was the highlight. i will say i thought it was lame that the crowd around me was talking throughout the acoustic set, but on a whole, the crowd was pertty into the gig the whole way through. the band were really in top form, the sound was excellent. chris had the whole place singing along quite loud at times, especially during the encore.
