Of course you´re right about this, although I think we "should" stop pointing at Rainbow as a great song because it isn´t a song but a mix of ten of them. If we mix The Scientist, Clocks, Coloratura and Everyday Life the result would be amazing, but that would not be a song netiher😂 Here is where I disagree, I mean... High five to the idea of "accept you are never gonna be liked by everybody, so just do whatever you fucking want, change into whatever you want to be at anytime". But if that means abandoning riffs, embracing simple pop, and writing the laziest lyrics Martin has ever written, then we´re talking about something else. Of course it worked! But my goal as a fan and listener is not to be the fan of the biggest selling band of the world. Even when I defend that artists must do whatever they want and not guide themselves by currents or commercial tricks, I also can have an opinion about what they choose to publish. I don´t think we disagree too much, actually.

I agree, and 2000´s Coldplay would have never put puppets on stage and deliver something like "My Universe". OF COURSE THEY DON´T. The melody, the sweetness and darkness, the lyrics (I´m talking in general, not specifically on those two tracks) are far away from POTP (a song I really love, but nothing more than Coldplay imitating a heavy band for fun) or🌈 which is made of really beautiful parts of songs. Which is the same as them saying they have something different from the rest of what they´ve done, or any other meaningless quotes we can remember. I agree on something, which is that Coldplay will always put on every album two or three great songs, because Martin´s ability for melodies is out of the question. But the effortless lyrics from these days and the path from rock to pop is out of the question (in my opinion, at least) too, and it´s ok, I don´t ask any of my favourite bands to keep doing the same songs over and over again. But it is what it is. And it´s exactly because of the road to pop and collaborations with BTS, Beyoncé, Rihanna..., their amazing concerts as a human example of human union and collective enjoyment directly shared on tickTock and Instagram. Which is fine, but the reason is not (or not completely) their singles and albums of this last five years.

As far as I know there has never been released any studio version of the song. It´s one my band favorites.

Thanks for the extensive answer. I miss those days when the singles came in companion with b-sides, not four remixes of We Pray or live versions. Not only with Coldplay, but with other artists I like as well… Good old days I guess.

As a commercial movement, that made sense because of the huge success of VLV, but Moon Music is different, I would rather a completely separated release, just the EP.

I hope they´re not thinking about releasing again MM, a simple EP would be great.

I really think True Love is one of Coldplay best songs, Up in Flames is a nice ballad, and Princess of China (although being the first full swim in the comercial pond) is a beautiful melody, and Rihanna makes one of the best guest collaborations on any of their albums. In my opinion, of course😂

I think to get involved in something different from the MOTS era, they need to wrap up the tour. So it makes sense that maybe they finish the musical next year, or something new has got in their way, but the self-titled last album, at least the one some of us dream of, has nothing to do with singing My universe every night.

Probably just for the fun of doing it, I guess. And that´s great, in my opinion, album promotions should be less tied…

The rumours in Spain say that it´s 11 shows because Bad Bunny is playing 10 shows at that venue, so they can break that record. It doesn’t make any sense to think they are interested in doing that in a country like mine, and I hope the real idea is what you ´ re proposing.

Thanks everyone for joining the conversation! When we compare different eras it´s always easy to come to conclusions without context. About this actual tour, two questions: - How many people buy tickets to listen to We Pray or FLIFIL? How many buy tickets because it´s a great show that everyone talks about and they´ve seen the colorful joy that gets spread? - Can we compare nowadays attendance, when a concert is much more than musical, but something social? Since COVID (maybe even some years before) that search for connection has grown, and people fill all tours like it´s the end of the world. Coldplay have been around us for 25 years, so if you want to compare them to U2, we should look at the Vertigo Tour, where the attendance and tickets selling was huge, with lots of new fans yearning to hear their last two albums big singles, Beautiful Day and Vertigo. Is that comparable to how today´s public wait to listen to My Universe or We Pray? I don´t think so, although I know I´m not objective at all...

Yes! It was great to hear it again, although I would rather get a full band version (Will didn´t play the drums). By the way it looks on videos, very few people in the stadium knew the song, but...

Very dissapointing setlist for me, only 3 Moon Music songs, and no surprise at all. Another night on the list... It´s ok, it´s our fault for thinking they could be preparing something different. We have not discussed Chris´words about the tour getting almost 100 more dates... or was it a joke? Didn´t sound like a joke to me.
