I forgot to mention any of EL songs, but anyway, I´ll always defend their right to do what they want, as long as I can keep mine to express if I like it or not.

Ok, on one hand I understand that reading someone again and again saying/writing that what one of our favorite groups does is disliked must be boring and disappointing, to say the least. On the other hand, I´m sorry, I really love the band and its honesty, but I think I´m entitled to express my respectful opinions. And you´re wrong, after VLV there are lots of songs I really love: Hurts like Heaven, Charlie Brown, Us against the world (another example of simple lyrics but not as simple as most of today´s), Major Minus, Don´t let it break your heart, Princess of China, Midnight, Always in my head, True Love, ASFOS, Oceans, Hymn for the weekend, X marks the spot, Adventure of a lifetime, People of the Pride, Coloratura... And as you can see there are really commercial songs, aimed for the masses, but (in my opinion) they are good. And I don´t feel that lately as much as I would like to. Should I leave this forum? I don´t think so, I thing we should be able to listen and respect one another.

I agree on this, that particular verse means that even when everybody else is having a go at you, you must continue and go on. But in general, the lyrics are bad. You can write something powerful, meaningful and not look like this.

Ok, it´s a sweet song, that´s true, but could never get to be the "Scientist" as somebody said, because the melody is not half as good, and the lyrics are the simplest he could write. No possible comparison at all. Jonny´s moment is great but so short it makes me mad. This is what we got, and we can enjoy it, but...

Well, if you´re talking about All that you can´t leave behind, it´s maybe safe, but it´s also a classic kind of songs that U2 had never gotten into. And if you´re talking about 2009´s No line on the horizon, the stuff they did with Eno and Lanois was absolutely experimental and adventurous, but later some of it was reworked to finally finish a safer album.

If anybody can send me a good quality leak of the song, I would be really grateful!

I can´t say I´m right, but I´ll try to explain. Eno is a different kind of producer, he just spends some days in the studio, goes away for a month and comes back to see what´s happened during that time. He provokes, he drives the artist in a different direction and out of its comfort zone, and always pushes towards something not really poppy or commercial, but expands the limits that surround a band. That was pretty clear with VLV, where there were not only loads of great songs, but also textures, colours, landscapes that the band would not have dared to dream of before working with him. He gets bored if things get repeated or overworked. Eno´s magic is touchable in his songs, and honestly, I don´t see it in these. That doesn´t mean I´m right, but I guess we´ll find out eventually.

Eno has been involved in one or two songs, nothing else. There´s nothing related to him on what we´ve heard, in my opinion.

Ok, if it´s confirmed I will say that it sounds beautiful, with Jonny stepping in (looks like only in the end, but that´s fine), Chris remembering the falsetto once again... Yeah, sounds promising. Let´s wait to hear the full song.

It was said months ago that it was a very guitar song, but neither the leaked parts nor the description above matches that. Or maybe I don´t have the leaked snippets you´re talking about...

I think the first thing you should do is listening to other artists. Compare Bono´s lyrics on U2´s worst album with most of Coldplay´s songs since 2020 and it´s absolutely devastasting. But even more, look into Coldplay´s discography. "The Scientist" has a lovely chorus, nothing spectacular but emotional and touchy, in lyrics terms, but the verses are miles away from any song you can think of on the last four years. And I could go on like this for lots of songs. Chris have talked about lyrics a lot in the early years, saying he wanted to improve and write better lyrics. That´s when he wanted to be the new Bono, and that´s a good example to follow. But now it´s obvious that his approach to this matter is completely different.

I wouldn't compare The Smile with Radiohead, and how much movement each one causes. Also, Radiohead delivered in 2008 their best album of the last 23 years, to say the least, and In Rainbows became hugely popular. But even then (and before, and after) Radiohead never tried to reach the massive level Coldplay was then looking for. And nowadays there's no point comparing both bands, I think.

It´s true that if you separate the lyrics from the melody and music, lots of times the words sound effortless and too cheesy. But it´s also true what we´ve been saying about Martin´s lyrics... Yesterday I read a topic in Reddit saing that Chris is the Benjamin Button of song writing, and I found it very funny but also very real, it´s a pity.

I hope you´re right, just because then there´s another unheard song for us.

If they released WP yesterday, we won´t have another single for the next two months, I guess Mr Pray didn´t mean it had to be right now., obviously.

Well, maybe you can say that about Keane, but not at all about Radiohead, Pablo Honey is overwhelmingly different from Ok Computer, In Rainbows and A Heart shaped pool, and all of them between each other. You´ve chosen a really bad example.

What I dispise is another lalala more, there are a million ways to finish the song and I reallly like the vibe on We Pray, but the classic Coldplay piano used to go together with classic Martin lyrics and a great melody. This is just lalala.
