  1. PS: If you get a chance, take a picture with the cool homeless guy who plays the tuba on the east walkway going towards the Key entrance....he's awesome. I'm taking a picture with him and donating $1 for his wonderous contribution to all Seattle concert fans.
  2. I asked for a digital camera for Christmas with the sole intention of bringing it to this show. And then I bought a 1GB card for it, so I hope to record on video the entire show if possible. If not, I'll alternate by recording a song, taking pictures during the next song, and so on. God damn it I'm going to explode!! 1 more day (it's 1:39 AM right now, haha :D )
  3. I'll try to take some of the stage before the Coldplay set also...there's a good 30 mins at least between Fiona Apple and Coldplay.
  4. I assume it will be 16-18 songs like White River. Hopefully a new setlist though, this was supposed to be a completely new tour...kinda strange they are still calling it Twisted Logic Tour when it was called Talk The Tour to begin with. I just don't want it to be predictable. Seattle is first, so we'll be the first to find out whether it's a repeat of last year or not.
  5. Imagine a hybrid of Alanis Morissette/Sheryl Crow/Norah Jones...but with a darker sound, and you sort of have Fiona Apple. It's hard to pin her sound to any other artist...I'm not into her music, but I know she's talented. As for parkingThere is a big parking lot on the area enclosed by Mercer, 5th, Broad, and Harrison. On the map...that would be the space enclosed by those streets to the right of the star (the star is "Seattle Center"). Parking should be $10 for 2 person carload, $8 for 3 person carload or more. Taking a right out of the north exit of the lot takes you onto Mercer St., which goes straight to I-5 north & south entrances. I parked in the 5th Ave. lot during the Foo/Weezer show, and I was in the stall next to the exit...pretty easy to leave quickly. [/b]
  6. Black Mountain could go down as the worst opening act ever, they were awful at White River. This is my 2nd time seeing Coldplay.
  7. Fiona Apple goes on stage at 7:30, so you ought to be in your seat by then if you want to see her perform. She'll probably play for 40-45 minutes, and with another 30 to 40 minutes for Coldplay's stage and equipment to set up, Coldplay will come on around 8:45 to 9 if I'm adding up right. Security check takes 15 minutes to wait in line, parking or walking takes another 10 to 15 minutes. And if you're driving from anywhere south of Seattle, you ought to leave around 5:30 to beat traffic. My dad is dropping my sister off at my university, since I get out of class at 6...then we're driving over to the arena which is only 15 minutes away. I suggest being in your seat by 7:20 if you want to see both Fiona & Coldplay. And don't drink a lot of liquids...the girls bathroom lines were really long from what I saw. If you plan on getting merchandise, you should get there sooner...and use the upstairs merchandise stands, probably the Northwest corner of the stadium is the one least used. As far as hotels go, I don't know much about where the hotels are in the area...I don't usually pay attention to that. As far as cameras....if you're a girl and have the cleavage, hide it in your shirt, haha. I doubt they're going to do strict searches being that the Coldplay crowd is pretty mellow. At the Foo/Weezer show, I got a full body pat down...cause those bands have rowdy fans. I'm going to tuck my digital camera down the front of my jeans, between my jeans and boxers...and slip my belt through the camera string so my camera dangles between my legs...it's hardly noticeable. Then when I get inside, I'm going into the bathroom to a stall to pull it out. I'm not sure how strict they're going to be during the show...they have security people at every seating entrance. Just be cautious when pulling it out, and be careful with your flash if you're near security.
  8. Or Jonny is referring to the Live 2003 DVD. Just depends on how "recent" he's talking about when he says concert DVD.
  9. I'm going, section 214 row 3...perfect view from the 2nd level. For those who haven't been to Key Arena, the views are great and it feels smaller and more intimate when it's sold out. The sound quality is amazing and the lighting and lasers are spectacular. If you're on the 2nd level, the view is great from there, i was in 214 row 6 for the Foo Fighters/Weezer show 3 months ago. Sidenote: Go upstairs to the 2nd level for merchandise. Do NOT bother to wait in the line right inside the main entrance facing the fountain, it will take you at least 30 minutes there but less than 5 minutes upstairs. I'm speaking from experience when I went to the Foo Fighters/Weezer show, and that crowd turnout was about 85%. I expect Coldplay to be 95%+ turnout. Just a heads up...I called Key Arena and was told that cameras are not allowed into the show, so HIDE THEM ON YOUR WAY IN!!![/b]
  10. Me and my sis taking a pic to put in our Christmas cards
  11. The studio version of Gravity is amazing. That's pretty much all I've listened to the past 2 days. Now we just need a Ladder To The Sun studio version and we'll be set!
  12. I think it's "alright". The reason I say so is because it sounds like something Dave Mathews Band would make and I hate them, lol. Other than that, it's alright.
  13. I'm so pumped for this show....the guys will be fresh off their winter holiday break and eager to kick the new tour off. Won't have to worry about tired vocals or lack of energy from them, they'll be ready to rock the building! I'm getting a new digital camera for Christmas so hopefully we can bring cameras in to Key Arena, I don't want it getting taken away. The venue does an awful job of saying whether cameras are allowed or not. I'm in 214, row 3...really good view as I've sat in 214, row 6 at another show this year.
  14. I saw them for the first time in August and was 2nd level, row 3 at an outdoor amphitheater. This time I'm 2nd level, row 3 in a basketball arena which is a lot closer to the stage than the last show. I'm happy with my seats...maybe happier than last time.
  15. I hope that's true. Cameras were allowed at the White River show near Seattle which was outdoors. The 2006 show is in Key Arena and they didn't allow cameras at the Foo Fighters show...so hopefully they comply with Coldplay's requests of allowing cameras.

  17. They could do plenty more than 17 or 18. Some bands do 20+. If it was Coldplay alone and no supporting acts, I'm sure the concert would last 2+ hours
  18. Soulive is an urban-style jazz band...3 black dudes that look like they should be rappers, but play incredibly good jazz music with a little funk and hip hop edge to it. They have a few guests, most of their guests are soul/r&b legends, while a few are underground rappers. Some of their albums start strictly jazz and no lyrics. Listen to clips of their CDs here: http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/artist/Soulive/a/Soulive.htm I love what I've heard so far. :P
  19. Yellow, for it's simplicity. I remember seeing the video for the first time on TV really late when the song first came out. I downloaded Yellow after seeing the video and got hooked on the band from that point on.
  20. Oh yeah, btw...I had class in Seattle that day from noon until 3:30, got home at 4, drove back to Seattle at 5:30...I got home from the show at 12:30 AM, crammed for a midterm until 2 AM, got up at 8 AM and took the test at 10 AM....and completely kicked the test's ass. That's called "music fan time management". :D
  21. The show was freaking awesome. I was there primarily to see Foos but I knew about 3/4 of the Weezer songs played at the show so I enjoyed it and sang along as much as I could. Hot Hot Heat sounded awful because they had the amps and mics turned up way too loud for an arena show during their performance, you could hardly hear the guy sing. Weezer was really energetic, more than I expected. Rivers can sure rock for being such a nerdy looking guy, haha. When the Foos came on the place went crazy. Dave had a lot of stories to tell, mostly about when he used to live in Seattle. Before they did Up In Arms, he said there's something about Seattle that makes him miss it every time he leaves, which was nice to hear since the band started here. They mashed up on Stacked Actors for like 15 minutes, if you could have heard what I heard, your jaws would drop. Dave was making sounds on the guitar I didn't think were even possible. Then Dave got on one side of the arena and had a faceoff with Chris on the other side of the arena...they were going back and forth outdoing each other. Dave played drums when Taylor sang Cold Day In The Sun. The highlight of the night was when Dave was talking about how he used to buy long johns at Fred Meyer near Aurora Ave. and that Aurora is his fav song they've recorded and that transitioned into them playing Aurora as the first encore song...they rarely play that song (I heard on the Foo Fighters boards that last night was the first time they've played it in years supposedly). Dave also pointed up to my section and was like "What's it like sitting up there? Isn't it kinda weird? Was Ticket Master closed? You guys probably have the dial up connection huh?"....and it was funny to me cause I have dial up and ordered my tickets online from Ticket Master. All in all, the entire show was amazing. Dave screamed his balls off, but mellowed it out during Everlong when he did a solo before the band joined in for the final chorus. 22. I saw Foo Fighters/Weezer/Hot Hot Heat last night! They're all coming to Seattle on the 26th, I'm so excited! I have a midterm exam the next morning though...
