  2. DAMN! *regrets still having not bought mini-blinds*
  3. what the hell... wolf blitzer? wolf blitzer is an anchor on CNN. what he was doing onstage with radiohead, i have no idea. i wish i hadn't forgotten about that now, although considering the state i was in at that time last night i probably wouldn't remember it this morning anyway.
  4. there's nothing wrong with porn. seriously... nothing wrong with alcohol either. moderation is the name of the game. :P

  7. actually, the reason you see a $10 cd is so that you get drawn in to buy that, then buy something else that will make the record store a profit. record stores lose a ton of money every time they sell a release for 10 bucks, and most of them aren't going to be doing that for much longer. you're right, they don't HAVE to cost $17-18, and we are getting screwed, but not as badly as you might think.
  8. reasons i buy cd's at the store: 1. i can tell the difference between a cd-quality track and an mp3 2. i like having artwork, production credits, etc 3. i actually listen to entire albums and not just the radio songs 4. i usually am not looking for something specific; i like browsing and checking out new things on a whim 5. most of the artists i listen to are NOT living in a mansion lighting cigars with hundred dollar bills, and most of them are NOT on major labels that pay them a dollar for every cd they sell (which is the going rate for most major label artists, not 12 cents or whatever some people would have you believe). if you've ever seen godspeed you! black emperor's touring caravan (including 9 band members, all their equipment and several technicians that they pay for) you'd buy their albums instead of downloading them. a little something about basic capitalistic concepts: the actual cd may indeed cost one dollar to produce. however, it's not as simple as that. things that also need to be paid for: - recording studio time for these bands - royalties to band members for the actual composition - royalties to band members and whoever was involved in the recording process for the sound recording - promotion - in-store displays and whatnot also, if a record store wants to sell, say, the new radiohead album, they have to buy the cd's from the record label, then charge more than that so that they don't immediately go out of business. it sounds almost painfully obvious, but some people fail to realize that.
  9. yeah, i guess that's one thing i forgot to mention, we pretty much agreed right off the bat that we're not going to see each other for awhile. i've never been in a situation where i actually wanted to keep in touch with an ex, but even i knew that was for the best. anyway, thanks for all of your thoughts! it's interesting to hear other people's experiences with it, because i get so caught up in thinking about myself that i forget that what may apply to me may not apply to everybody else (sounds obvious, i know) here's a weird observation: every "real" relationship i've ever had (which admittedly could be counted on one hand) has started with the girl chasing me and ended the other way around. am i prone to becoming too dependant and wanting to stay in the relationship more out of safety and familiarity than because i had any feelings for these girls? (i know for a fact that isn't the case with this most recent one, but it certailny poses an interesting question anyway)
  10. this girl i've been going out with for two years (and with whom i have been best friends for even longer than that) recently broke up with me. now she's talking to me again, saying she still wants to be friends. with any other girl i'd just blow it off, say "yeah, me too," and then never talk to her again. but this girl is special to me, and she was special to me long before we were officially "together" or whatever. so i know she honestly means it (unlike what a lot of my friends who don't know me or her that well are telling me), and i would like to be friends too. i just don't know if i could handle being "just friends" with her, or if i'd constantly be killing myself wishing for more than that again. things could become especially problematic when she starts seeing other guys again. so i'm asking this here, not because i need your help in making the decision (because obviously i know more about this than you), but just because i'm curious as to what you think. obviously it's more complicated than just "yes" or "no," that's why you can post to explain it better. :P
  11. yes, it does go good with the "whisperer" title. so you have to stop posting as well. :P
  12. i don't have any manboobs, but i do have a bit of a beer gut and some love handles. but i think every non-anorexic guy in the world has a bit of that. oh well, time for a google image search for "manboobs"
  13. i have to admit the part that was about rabbits was a lot more interesting than the part about me. :P if i hadn't gone to bed at 11 last night because i was so exhausted from having not slept the night before, i could have joined in. :D oh well. i have to go now.
  14. hehe yeah for once it actually makes sense to have AOL. i'm sure as soon as the video screening is done everybody will go back to wishing they had anything other than AOL. :P
  15. obviously they're not going to be album quality, so don't talk to me like i have no clue about the song selection process. but have you ever heard any of radiohead's earlier b-sides? they're brilliant!!! any one of their b-sides up through ok computer could have easily been an album track. hell, they have songs that they've never even released that are better than anything most other bands around will ever write. like i said earlier, radiohead are held to a different standard than other bands.
