Could you help me please, musical wonders
definitely save up before you get any further. get the piano. if you can't get yourself to commit to that, then don't even bother with the rest. just my opinion. i never taught myself piano...i had instructors and everything, but if you were gonna learn on your own, i suggest googling how to read notes and some theory. if you've played any other instrument then this will all come very easily. if not, then it's gonna take a while. once you can read notes with confidence...then i suggest going back to these boards and searching up the sheet music you want. but it's gonna take a while. i hope you're patient.

The Piano Thread
i've been writing some music lately...hopefully i can get some buddies to jam with and we might have something...nothing crazy just simple piano riffs...a handful of lyrics...yadda yadda blah blah blah...pretty chill

What's the meaning of 'Yellow'?
does that mean chris wrote the Yellow Pages? "I wrote a song for you, and all the things that you do....and it was called 'Yellow'" hmmm, makes you think...could he be getting residuals on the side? if so, are those residual checks going toward MTF or something else? Hmmmmmmmmm ;)

Next Album Be Like??? :s
i bet you all thought it was chris martin...hehehe the 4th album is gonna be like Led Zeppelin's 4th in a sense that it's gonna have that ONE song, that "Stairway To Heaven" song that's gonna be THE song that people mention first when someone says Coldplay 20 years down the road. Forget In My Place, forget Fix You, forget Yellow, it's gonna be they're "Stairway To Heaven". hehehe, only a predicition though.

Coldplay Mulling a Timbaland Collab For Next Album
First of all, blackchick's right, it's not gonna be hip hop OR rap and second of all, to all you coldplay ft. timbaland haters, i've said this time and again regarding any artist releasing new albums...you can't expect an artist to stay the same with every release. they need to grow as individuals and musicians and if that means experimenting with someone by the likes of timbaland then you know what, it'll be something magical because coldplay hasn't let me down yet. plus, the jay-z/chris martin thing was actually quite pleasant, "beach chair" if it hasn't already been mentioned.

How to Sing
there's a big difference between playing instruments and singing and just flat out singing. when there's an instrument in your possession, you can get away with only hitting 4 or 5 notes and still sounding decent. just find your range in terms of those four or five notes (making sure you sing from the diaphragm and not from the throat) and you'll be in business when singing alone with no instruments, you're really going to be under a lot of scrutiny. not only can you not get away with the 4 to 5 note combo, but you'll be expected to hit amazing ranges with really smooth flow (keep in mind, this is still coming from the diaphragm and NOT from the throat, which is a common mistake). I'm no expert in singing by any means, but i do know a thing or two about music and musicianship. being an avid musician for 3/4 of my life (18 now) i've learned a thing or two... honestly, if you have a shred of talent in singing (meaning, you have a decent voice) then it shouldn't be that hard to hone that skill with a little time and effort (and a lot of googling ;) ). and another thing...i suggest having a magnetic personality when on stage performing... take chris martin for instance. by any means, he's no luciano pavorrati (spelling?) but he does have a talent (and a hell of a falsetto). but if anyone has seen them live, you know that he does more than just sing and play piano/guitar. there's a presence about him, with his histrionics and crowd interaction. play off of that. the crowd loves it. ultimately, have a unique sound ("good" unique, not "suck" unique) and don't copy another persons voice. i've seen too many covers of coldplay songs with terrible copy cats. hope that helps.

If you want a bright acoustic sound with minimal bass I woud recommend these strings
Yea. I have those in 12 gauge (i wanted them lighter but they didn't have them) they're really good. Guitar Center told me those were the best for acoustic. They're rigged on my Seagull S6 and they sound real nice.
