AS THE WORLD TURNS...
AS THE WORLD TURNS AND BURNS. That is what I was going to call this thread but it had a ... I don't know, sort of a pessimistic ring to it. But tell me, does anyone know what is going on out there on planet earth? For starters, all the people in India and China want to drive to work in their own cars like we do, and they want all the same appliances and generasl standard of living that we have in the west. Burn more oil anybody? And then we have the Middle East and the sacred mission of every jihadi who can't get to Islamic Heaven fast enough. And we also have Palestinian proffessionals going without pay for months on end while Suadi Princes make multi billion dollar bids for Swiss banks or something or other? Where is the Middle East, when the Middle East needs help? Not to mention corporations, which for the most part are the market place equivalent of a physchopath. And they say the market will solve the problem of global warming? And one day pigs will fly? And as I just mentioned, global warming. David Suzzuki, the noted Canadian sience author was recently quoted as saying that the current debate on global warming 'is like that of a car heading straight fora cliff and the people inside are arguing about how fast they should be going'. Maybe we are too many now for this planet to support. One thing is for sure, Life is in control of us, not we in control of Life. Do we live in harmony with Nature? Or are we at war with Nature. But all is not all desolation and darkness. I believe in the eternal beauty of all things. When you look at the big picture, anyone capable of being on the internet (ie, living in the West) is living a lifestyle of the Minority on this planet. By far the most common morning beverage on earth is... tea? orange juice? coffe? Try water. Billions of people on this world live on less than three dollars a day. Tens of millions of people are suffering the effects of war all over the world. But for the Grace of God there go I. I am so lucky. We all are, even those people whose lives are a struggle from day to day. But you might have a hard time convincing them of that. Maybe if they were not hungry they might hear you. So this is just a place where stroies of any kind may be poisted, real or imaginary. Or maybe something about Coldplay. Or maybe just a snapshot of a moment of your life.

The Einstein of Music
Oops! That would be guyberryman.net. (right quote (partial), wrong human)! There are a few issues I want to deal with but the most pressing is this: Is Chris Martin / Coldplay the Einstien of Musical Creativity, be it individual, collective or what. Whatever "it" is, it is simply remarkable. This music breaks new ground in so many areas, it is ahead of it's time. I am just blow away by every song on this latest cd, just amazing. Should I be writing this stuff somewhere else, like at the apprropriate thread? Should I start a thread entitled How Good are Coldplay? / Your Feelings (crying allowed). That's not a bad idea egh? Maybe such a thread already exsists? Maybe some of you people who live here could help me on that one? And while I'm on the line, how does one get a hold of something that resembles a front row ticket to one of these shows? And, should I purchase 'got blown away at the concert" insurance? I am so grateful for this last show in Vancouver. If that's the only show I ever see, then so be it, that was enough for a lifetime (Amen Brother!). Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for a performance that was beyond electrifying. Sometimes human talent can be blinding. Once in a rare while does someone or a writing team come along who write / perform songs that take your heart and mind to another realm, another time and place. These guys are blinding. Enjoy the ride! Your devoted fan / rob driscoll

On Confidence Ane Critics
I am prompted to write this after visiting a link (thanks) to Jonny Buckland.net and was surprised to read this floating quote to the effect that "no critic has ever spent enough time with us to understand what Coldplay is all about". The other catalyst was a statement byWill Champion after the thursday night show, and just befor taking stage for night2 at GMplace in Vancouver (what an accoustical masterpiece that is). Commenting on Thurday nights show, and just before taking stage on friday night (the show I saw) Will said "It was pretty noisy yesterday. I have to say it was great. it gave us a real confidence boost". Confidence and critics? As for the Critics here is my advice. Vincent Van Gough never sold one painting in his entire lifetime and today they go for hundreds of millions. You guys are lucky to earn money for what you do. Let people like us, millions around the globe, who just happen to know you are the best sound in a long long long long long time. And as we all know, that's a long time. As for confidence I am not a pro at that one but I am learning! All I know is that the more I live "out of my comfort zone" the more I discover how much more I am than what I thought I was. The more you push the limit the more calm you will be. I don't drink and that helps also. But sincerely, I am no musicwunderkind, just a very musical person who for whatever reason is only now seriously starting to develope my own talent and I can tell you one thing, I think I know good music. I like to thik I have good taste when it comes to music. I like Motzart, Ravel, Satie, Debussy, Nat King Cole, Patsy Cline, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, these and more are the greats. Im in pretty good company so far, right? Ooops! Did I forget somebody? Maybe Coldplay? Maybe just maybe Coldplay? For what it's worth, that's how I see it. And sometimes when I sit at the piano I surprise myself with things that come from somewhere inside me I know not where! Creativity is so beatufull. So screw the critics and always play remebering the tens of millions of fans around the world who have no problem giving their own critique when asked the question: Who is you current living all time favoutite?... coldplaycoldplaycoldplay of course! said the mouse to the duck to the fish to the horse! ! your devoted fan / rob driscoll / [email protected] / vancouver

My Story
I just figured out how this system works. You will here more from me. Do you ever think there's a link between global warming, fair trade, wars and the music of people like coldplay, u2, radiohead?? These four lads will accelerate the expansion of care in this world. Care, that's :/ is all this world is lacking, care. Rob YOU ARE PART OF THE HUMAN RACE ALL OF THE STARTS AND THE OUTER SPACE PART OF A SYSETEM i AM. PS. if they ever read what i wrote, i would be touched. just keep in mind that this is how i truly feel. and you know what? by learning the songs of Chris Martin / Coldplay i am unlocking my own music, which for me is a living miracle.

I Can't Believe...
My name is Rob and I am a musician / furniture desighner-maker. I like Motzart, I like Patsy Cline, I like Cheryl Crow, I like Don Henly, and I like Coldplay, a lot!! Was Coldplay even nominated for any Grammys? This would be hilarious if it was'nt so sad. But then Radiohead (who I saw Live At Thunderbird Stadium. U.B.C. Vancouver B.C. Canada. and are just amazing in all respects) never had that huge pop following like U2. Coldplay on the other hand has cracked that market, despite the truth of their music. It's hard to listen to a hard song, unless you wrap it in a heavenly melody, complete with full symphonic effects. A lot of people will not listen to music that makes them "feel". I liked John Legend, he was way cool!! I liked Kelly Clarkson. But Coldplay can make you feel happy / sad so fast... I remeber something from the Bio page about (not verbatim) "it's hard to write a really up song". I just feel these songs are straight from the haert and as we all know that is where we all live, whether you know it or not. In the Heart live all feelings. I live to feel, to feel the wonder and majesty of life and this universe. I am completely awastruck by the sheer beauty of the melodies of Chris Martin / Coldplay. The only other songwriters in history who Coldplay belong with would be Lennon / Mcartney, and The Bee Gees. Yes, I said the Bee Gees. There is something so infectious about these songs. the melodies are so heartfelt, talent like this only comes once in a rare while. All I am trying to say is that Chris Martin will go down as one of the great composers of all time. This guy, and this band have it all...AND I MEAN ALLLLLLL!!!!!! My fav tune White Shadows Is playing, what a f...ing masterpiece! This band is so good. I am so inspired by these guys. I am learning all of their tunes on piano. It is such an adventure to discover each songs structure, not to mention fun!! So anyway, I ain't no music critic but I think someone dropped the ball there at the awards tonight, I mean Coldplay should have one a truckload. Maybe if Motzart, Nat King Cole and John Lennon were hading out the gold, maybe then Coldplay would have walked awy with Grammy. It would have been a no brainer!!!!!!!!! My Story
My Story I am new here, just posted for the first time, but I don't think it registered. Here it is again...my experince... Coldplay!!! I actually moved from Vancouver (Can.) six months befor their first show here ever. Brilliant egh? I missed that show! Anyway, I moved back to Vancouver from Victoria about 14 months ago and managed to get tickets for the second of two shows here (sandwiched between Seattle and San Fransisco), which they played friday despite mild food poisoning! Chris Martin and the band, I should say Coldplay, are simple put, a musical phenomenom we are not likely to see the likes of again in our lifetime. For me Chris Martin is in the same league of talent as John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon... and many of the other great artists that have lived. I should explain... I'm a musician!! The concert re-arranged every molecule in my brain!! Is it pure serendipity that I see Coldplay live for the first time on the 250th anniversary (to the day) of my favourite classical composer Motzart??!!! And it's like BOOM! COLDPLAY LIVE!!!!! I am currently learning every song from X&Y and then A Rush to he Head and Yellow. I am completly taken aback by the magnificent beauty of this most obviously heartfelt collection of tunes. Tunes!! The ballad must be as old as time itself. Every age has it's own spirit minstral and we have ours. And out from that time steps.....COLDPLAY!!! Every song on this cd is as good as or better than every other tune! How do you do that trick??! The depth of emotion and accompanying melodic beauty create a rare glimpse into life itself, in all its Emotional Power and Beauty. The beauty of music is that it can change your heart chemistry. Me, I've alwys felt like "White Shadows"!! This song puts me on that WAVE AND I AM GONE IN A PERMANMENT STATE!!! PART OF A SYSTEM A PLAN!! When I was a kid I looked up at the stars and I KNEW there was a God. This music for me evokes similar feelings. The melodies are so beautifull. This music will stand the test of time. This music will be listened to decades from now and they will wish to have been the lucky ones... to have been there live, if only just once! I have 7 songs figured out on piano, 5 almost and 2 perfect. I play guitar also. I play along to my to favs , White shadow and Talk. What perfect ART, OH WHAT PERFECT HARMONY THIS IS. What perfect art it is.... In ending I just want to say how inspiring I find your music. I truly wish you and the guys long happy lives. And thank you for the obvious hard work that went into this cd, it is as close to perfect as it gets. We seem to like it, and that's all that matters in the end!!!
