  1. For me, I just enjoy Chris' voice and their music. I usually play YouTube videos on my laptop when I'm working on here and I'm able to de-stress and just chill. Also, I'm in the same age range (31) as the guys in the band and I guess it doesn't really matter but growing up, all my favorite bands were decades older so I view Coldplay as part of "my generation" so-to-speak and I can identify with the way the feel about life in general. I just never get sick of their music, ever. They could sing ABC's and I would listen to it over and over again!
  2. I went and I thought it was a great show! The only thing I would have loved to hear another slow song like Amsterdam but that isn't a complaint. Chris also did seem very tired, both my husband and I thought so. I can see why though after the non-stop schedule. He forgot like a line to one of the songs (I honestly cannot remember which one right now) an he said "Wow, that was really embarrassing!" I loved hearing Green Eyes and Death Will Never Conquer.....will has a spectacular voice, who would have thought....!
  3. Now that you are on this topic, I'll chime in. I think it's completely ridiculous the efforts that G & C go to in order to "not be photographed together." Look at Gwen Stefani and her husband, Gavin Rossdale, they chose to act like normal people and not flip out about pictures and therefore, they are left alone for the most part. Chris and Gwyneth are actually making it far worse to make such a big deal over this issue. I get it that the paparazzi can be intrusive and overboard at times but if they just smiled and moved on, people wouldn't follow them as much as they do. I also don't get how Chris picks and chooses when he will talk about his personal life. In Rolling Stone, he was more vocal yet in other interviews, he storms out. There are MANY famous married couples who understand that when you marry another celebrity, you are entering into an unconventional situation and it's his attention to NOT discussing it that irks people and causes much more fuss than if he just said, "Yeah, I love my kids, they are cute, they do this and that, my wife is beautiful, she's proud of me, we're happy, etc." Then, people would MOVE ON. I also find it interesting how the month that VLVODAAHF comes out, Gwyneth is on at least two major magazine articles here in the US (which of course mentions Chris & Coldplay) and her movie is coming out at the same exact time. They use it when it's convienent for them but how dare anyone ask them about even a short comment. It's just silly and childish.
  4. I'm listening to the new album but NO WAY IN HE*L is this close to Parachutes, AROBTTH or even X & Y. I guess I was in the minority and I loved X & Y. Swallowed In The Sea is in my top 3 favorite Coldplay songs of all time. From my perspective, I have some issues with this new CD or how it was approached: IMO, the true "Coldplay" sound is the stadium ballads:::::::Clocks, The Scientist, Amsterdam, etc. this is what Coldplay got famous from and this is what most of the serious fans love. I don't get this whole, "We didn't feel we needed to impress anyone" stuff and so now, we are to believe VLVODAAHF is the real/true Coldplay sound because they felt ininhibited in the past to not be their true selves when making music? Chris talks about not getting commercialized but then why bring Brian Eno in to reinvent the sound. They never needed Eno in the past and were amazingly successful and then had some bad reviews of X & Y and were they feeling pressure to come out with something new and fabulous because of that? How about going back to basics......just being happy with who you are, not overthinking everything and trying too hard. I like a few songs on VLV but ya know what? I listening right now to Live 2003, not the new CD. There are some who will never say anything bad about the band or their music....somehow, by doing so, you are not as dedicated of a fan or something by some's standards.
  5. OMG........Lil' Wayne is HORRIBLE. I just listened to his Lollipop song, what a bunch of junk. I can't believe he is in first place on ITunes....
  6. I'm in Cali and it's 9:26 here and I was able to the album so I guess it doesn't matter where, as long as it's EST after midnight we can download!
  7. "If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you'd want to prove yourself, you know what I mean?" Anyone else find this to be a bit ridiculous? Gosh, talk about giving Brad Pitt more credit than he is worth! Good grief, I wouldn't have expected Chris to say something like that at all. It makes him sound starstruck and immature.
  8. PARACHUTES: Everything's Not Lost AROBTTH: Amsterdam X & Y: Swallowed In The Sea VLVODAAHF: Lost or 42
  9. As a big Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews and Phish fan, I totally agree. People should go to You Tube and look at some of the outfits Jerry Garcia used to wear at his concerts, literally shorts and t-shirts most people wouldn't go out of the house wearing. They talk about not wanting to be "commercial" but I feel a lot of this costume stuff is very commericial and unnecessary. I agree with what you said about how they fit in the video, etc. but now it's a bit silly. Yeah, they are cool once or twice but if this is the new costume for the next year, it's overproduced.
  10. Best: Lost Accoustic, 42, Strawberry Swing, Viva La Vida Worst: Cemeteries of London, Violet Hill, Yes
  11. Was on YouTube and found this interview------sorry if you've already seen it or this is a repeat post.
  12. I know what you are saying. I think it's going to take some time to get used to. I like it, but its something that has to grow on you. I do miss the old stuff though too. I think back to Swallowed In The Sea, Moses, The Scientist, Amsterdam, Everything's Not Lost, etc. those are how I think of Coldplay truly. I LOVE: Lost, Viva la Vida, Strawberry Swing (reminds me of a 60's hippie song), 42 Really Like: Violet Hill OK: Cemetaries of London, Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love, Life in Technicolor Don't Like Much: Yes, Death & All His Friends

Being as fair as possible, how big do you guys think this new album is going to be? I personally think it's going to the the album of the year, if not ever from Coldplay. There is a lot of talk on here about the songs and such but I'm just curious what you other Coldplayers think about where this is all going to go by the end of summer.
  14. I am IN LOVE with VLV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO excited I was not into Violet Hill last week but it's growing on me a bit I seriously think that VLV is an album of the year, Grammy caliber song, it's amazing....the lyrics....the music.....the instruments, everything. I could keep it on repeat and fall asleep to it
