Top 5 Viva Era Songs
Before making my list, I have to say that I really loved all the music this time around. It was all so varied that every song had its own special reason I liked it. Anyway, in no particular order.. Strawberry Swing - I just love it, I don't really know why Life in Technicolour (either one really) - I love the eclectic instruments in it, and the way it just builds up and up, and I also LOVE the lyrics in ii. The Goldrush - This song makes me sad because I wish I could've heard it live somehow. Death and All His Friends - Not the song overall so much as the piano/guitar breakdown in the middle, which is BRILLIANT. Lovers in Japan - Just something about the way that tack piano rolls that makes this song amazing! Though I hate leaving out Now My Feet Won't Touch The Groud (I absolutely love how they had subtle horns in that song) and Violet Hill because I've listened to that song about 350 times and I still love it, I think those 5 are my 'favorites' :)

Yeah, but I dunno, if it comes out too soon and then they break up then I think they'll have not explored enough. They're just starting to make really great varieties of music, and I think they still have quite a bit more room to play with.

I hope not, but I always have a nagging fear in the back of my mind that maybe Chris was serious about them not being around for much longer..

I'm thinking the new butterfly logo that resides in the design and all over their Twitter page is a symbol that they're not changing completely, but instead they're evolving what they have right now. Hence the change from a simple butterfly to a detailed, intricate one. Just my 2 cents. :) I'm intrigued by the RSVP thing btw. Sent an email, I guess I'll just wait and see!

The Degradation Of Coldplay
Really? I don't remember that at the concert I was at, except maybe 42 in a few parts.. But even then most of the piano and guitar was really being played. I remember distinctly that they were playing guitar, bass, and drums live during Life in Technicolour and I could clearly hear them. I also was fairly sure they were doing the chants during VLV live as well.. I remember seeing them all singing into the mics during it?

The Degradation Of Coldplay
Well, imo, they try to have a balance between the musicality and the show, and to me it works out pretty well. The only two times they use prerecorded tracks (if I remember correctly) were Viva la Vida and Lovers in Japan. Viva la Vida is kind of obvious, since it's violins, and they don't have violin players touring with them. LiJ I think Chris just wants to have fun with the crowd since it's the most visual song of the show pretty much. I imagine the piano bit in that song would get very tiring on the hands if he played it the whole way through.. And he does go back and play it at some points. I don't think they let the song quality slip just because it's live, I just think they're trying to find ways to make it more fun for everybody in the audience, which I don't see as a bad thing. Btw, Josh, I think I may as well just stop talking about the Hokies as it's obvious I don't know much of anything about their past few years :P.

The Degradation Of Coldplay
Maybe this year, I just think the last 2 or 3 years haven't been that great. I know we've won a lot but it just seems like in a pinch the team really doesn't hold up well. Then again I might just not know since I didn't get to watch too many games last year, but I'm definitely going to be keeping up with this season. Have to admit 2 ACC Championship wins in a row would be very nice!

Haha.. thanks? I can't wait for college football season to start up again, even though the Hokies have been been notably worse the past few years than they used to be...

The Degradation Of Coldplay
I just read this whole thread - All I can say is you guys sure know how to argue, haha. And no offense to anyone who likes it, but the extra lyrics in Lost+ are definitely not a good reason to like the song :P.

Which songs will they play off of viva next tour?
Did you guys really think IMP got a great fan response? Your concerts might have been different than mine, but that, in addition to Violet Hill, seemed to be the weakest bits for the crowd. And I wouldn't worry too much about Politik - it's a lot of fun for everybody involved. I think they love it, the crowd does get into it due to the blasting chorus, and even Roadie 42 mentioned how it's his favorite song live. I don't think they'll let that gem go. Maybe for a few shows but they'll definitely play it in the future.

Whoops, double post :(

Which songs will they play off of viva next tour?
I was just thinking about this the other day actually - I'm personally hoping Strawberry Swing makes a big splash as a single next month because I'd love to see it back at concerts in the future. Violet Hill I think is a no, and no Cemetaries of London or LiT. I have a feeling they'll keep either 42 or DAAHF just because of the guitar/piano solos in them that aren't really seen in other songs of theirs. Lost! is a maybe, and I hope they keep Lovers as well. Viva la Vida though, I kind of wish they'd let that rest for a tour BUT I can't deny how great it is when the crowd gets into it..

Are you gunna buy Coldplay tap tap this week?
I just bought it, hoping I was #1000 :P Funny thing is I was just looking at it the other day to buy, but I was going to wait til the weekend, then I went there last night and it was $1 off! Hooray!

Lol yeah, the improv intro song was cool because I think it was only done for our show! But Josh, I looked at your pictures and I'm pretty sure I saw you before the show started walking around, my gf pointed you out because of that shirt, she'd never seen it before and thought it was cool lol! I'll go ahead and upload my pictures to FB in a minute though, I've got a bunch of good ones of the stage as a whole :)

One year with Coldplay...
Well, for me, I slowly got into it over time.. from back years ago I loved Yellow and then around when X&Y came out I listened to the previews on iTunes and didn't see why everyone thought it was so great, but sometime between then and 2007 I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with all of their music, all at once. X&Y's still my least favorite but there're certain songs from there like Swallowed In the Sea that are some of my favorite songs. From then on I joined the board, slowly got more and more into it all, collected all the b-sides I could find, downloaded all the videos, followed all the new about VLV. Then Violet Hill came out and I listened to that song around 50 times on repeat nonstop on a drive to see Sara Bareilles in concert. Still not tired of that song to this day. I listened to some of the leaked songs but I made sure not to listen to the album until I could go out and buy the physical copy because I didn't want to ruin the surprise. LOVED it, every bit of it, and I still do. It's right between AROBTTH and Parachutes for me as the best CD. For my birthday the next month my girlfriend drew a picture of her and I together on a swing made of strawberries with the SS lyrics in the background, so that's now "our song" :) Bought the deluxe edition with Prospekt's March and I LOVE LiTii and Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground. Then I stayed home from class one day in March so I could get my presale tickets for the Raleigh show yesterday and that had to be the best money I've ever spent. Me and my girlfriend absolutely LOVED the show and are going to go to many more in the future, no question. And I got a million butterflies :D. Getting more and more obsessed by the day, lol. Oh and I saved listening to Leftrightleftrightleft until I got it last night and it's such a great little memory to have from the concert! My favorite thing about Coldplay is no matter what's going on, how I'm feeling, there's always a song or two of theirs that can just make me feel happy inside. I love it!

broken bracelets :(
Are you talking about the charity ones on sale at the concerts this tour? If so I'll have to tell my gf to be careful with hers! @Josh, yeah, I think some girls still do it - there were a million different colors that all meant different things..

Best City to go to a Coldplay Concert in?
I was thinking Toronto, I've heard a LOT of good things about their shows there! I think maybe going somewhere like there to enjoy the show and then smaller ones for the pit would be a good plan. Raleigh last night actually had a very empty pit during Elbow, I was surprised.

Best City to go to a Coldplay Concert in?
Yeah.. I knew London was the *best*, and as much as I'd LOVE to get over to London, I seriously doubt it'd happen.. at least not for a few years, haha. Afraid I'll be stuck in the States for this trip :(. And ok, scalper websites, thanks! :)

Best City to go to a Coldplay Concert in?
OK, so I'm *HOPING* Coldplay will be back here in the US next summer - if not next, then the one after - and I'm thinking of maybe doing a roadtrip/vacation, and then seeing a few different shows along the way. So my question is, where do you guys think the best city to see a CP show would be?! Also - this might seem like a dumb question - but how do you get tickets for the pit? I went on the presale for the Raleigh concert right when it started but the best seats I could get were about 20ish rows back :(

Concert Merchandise
Even though I couldn't believe the shirts were $40, I of course got one - the plain 'ol Viva la Vida paint one. Also got a program, which is beautiful! And a whole bunch of butterflies on the way out :D. Have a feeling I'm gonna head to the online store and order the tour poster, and the Toronto and Carson ones - they're $9 each and I really love all 3. Don't have enough CP posters anyway :P

First off I agree with whoever said his voice sounded a slight bit nasaly - I was thinking either cold or just maybe a bit tired, but it was only noticable in the beginning to me. I also think that the Talk/GPASUYF remix sounded great, just.. I dunno. It kinda didn't work right the way they combined them for me. I also think Violet Hill was a little off, but all the rest were brilliant! Strawberry Swing is a favorite of my girlfriend and I and we both thought it completely came alive in person! It sounded much more full than the studio version - same for Lost! It didn't sound as planned out and to me, it flowed better than it does on the CD. To be honest though, at least from where I was (left stage, about middleways back), I don't get what you mean by the crowd not getting into them? I was really surprised by how many people sang along and were enjoying all the songs - even the non-singles. I LOVE Leftrightleftrightleft - I held off on downloading it so I wouldn't spoil the surprise of the live songs - but it's so cool having that as a memory of how great the concert was. I have many pictures and videos, but I'm not sure if I'll post them or not - the videos are half of songs in most cases - I didn't want to watch all of them through the lens! I'm also not so sure how good the quality is lol.. My girlfriend and I also both thought Elbow were better live - she doesn't even like them in the studio - but Grounds for Divorce and One Day Like This were AMAZING! Looooved the effects on the GFD breakdowns! But the one thing this concert made me feel over anything else is that Coldplay's way more fun to see live than a lot of other bands out there - and I'm going to try and get to at least one of their shows a year from now on if they're around! The programs are amazing btw - I felt a lot better spending $20 on one of those than I did the $40 for the shirts haha..

Wow. First coldplay concert and it was amazing! Everything, the band, the venue, the setlist, the crowd, was all great. They seemed kind of out of it but it barely showed at all, though I was thinking there would be two true encores - didn't really consider the first bit an encore lol. Favorite song would have to have been green eyes, lovers in japan, or the scientist. Oh and the hardest part really showed how great chris and will are in harmony! The band walked right past me on the way to the back stage!! As an aside wtf is with people getting super drunk at a coldplay concert?! There were 50 year old women jumping up and down dancing during every single song!! @guy above me - I think he was talking about the little thing chris sang while will was tuning his guitar, not will's song :)

I'm deffo going to this show from VA, especially with Elbow supporting! Been waiting for CP for 2 years, and Elbow's just a bonus!!
