bump..... I have to agree, The Smiths are the greatest band, certainly of the past 30 years. Have we all seen Chris Martin on youtube singing The Smiths "Stop Me If You Think That Youve Heard This One Before" - Mark Ronson just hit #1 in the UK with a cover of this song as well..... Rolling Stone magazine just tabbed Morrissey & Johnny Marr as the #5 best songwriting tandem in rock history. Most of todays music fans do not realize how influential The Smiths & Morrissey are and have been. Virtually every indie band from The Libertines to Arctic Monkeys to Keane to The Killers to Franz Ferdinand, Oasis all credit Morrissey and The Smiths as a top influence. I always knew Modest Mouse were fans, and now theyve picked up Johnny Marr, who is taking a very prominent role in the band. Then youve got the bands that have used Morrissey lyrics to name their band: Ordinary Boys, Pretty Girls Make Graves....
