  1. They probably played a lot more b-sides on their first two tours because they didn’t have a large number of tracks to choose from like they do now. Maybe One I Love was played on ROBTTH tour because they needed another rocker in their concert and didn’t have enough of them from the album tracks. I don’t know, it’s just a thought. Also, you’re much more likely to hear b-sides or album tracks of a band’s current work. This is the tour in support of Viva La Vida and the setlist should be built around those songs, then throw in the previous hits that people would be upset not to hear (Clocks, Yellow, In My Place, Fix You, and so on) and the ‘live staples’ like Politik and that is pretty much a show. I’d rather hear stuff from this album that may or may not ever get played live again on a regular basis then b-sides from 2000 or 2002. How awesome was Swallowed In The Sea on the last tour? It was great! But I don’t expect to hear it on this tour because it was 'last album / last tour' stuff. Just my opinion. It would be cool if Coldplay were more like R.E.M, who you never know what you’re going to hear live. You could hear anything! But R.E.M don’t have a themed show like Coldplay or U2. The Twisted Logic shows certainly had an arc, this tour seems no different. I actually prefer a perfectly themed show, even if it means a lack of setlist changes.
  2. So I got my GA tickets for the first Melbourne show. (Oh yeah!) I have a question for anyone who has done GA on this tour – What’s the best spot to head for? Is it better to head for the main stage or is better to get a spot by one of the b-stages? I went to a number of U2 concerts in Australia in 2006 and the first few shows I got a great spot right in front of the main stage. To try something different I grabbed a spot by a b-stage for the final show and wished I had done it more often. I was only a meter away from Bono and the b-stages were lower than the main stage, so the guys felt more immediate than they did on the main stage. They also spent a decent amount of time on the b-stages. Is the same true for Coldplay? Also, do they spend much time on the b-stages/ramps? I’m a big Chris Martin fan, is there one side he spends more time on than another? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. I don't know how fast they sold out last tour but I wouldn't try to get tickets over the internet or phone. Its too hard to get in and too many things can go wrong. The old fashioned way still works the best, at least your fate is in your own hands to a greater degree. If you care enough about getting tickets to get up exta early and get a good spot in the ticket line, you should be fine. Also, I usually try to find an outlet that is in the suburbs, its usually less busy than one in the CBD or an arena. But in the end, the earlier you get there the better chance you have of getting tickets. Atleast there is a line.... there isn't one on the internet or phone, everyone starts from the same spot.
  4. That's right. I told someone today the title of the new album and their response was "what, you can't put 'or' in an album title, who does that?" My reaction was why can't you put 'or' in an album title and obviously the answer to "who does that?" is now coldplay. The more I think about it, the more I like it. I just hope the music is as original as the title.
  5. Yeah, she did! One of her albums was titled "She Who Dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High Shall Abide Under the Shadow of the Almighty."
  6. I really like the title, if it is indead "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends." I thought "Viva La Vida" was a horrible title and "Death and All His Friends" was okay at best. But when you throw them together it creates something very unique. I like that it isn't a Coldplay-ish title, since I'm expecting this to not be a Coldplay-ish album. If this is the title, I'm really happy with it. Also, to people conerned about the title being too long, just thank yourself it isn't as long as Fiona's Apple's second album title. Its better known as "When The Pawn..." but the actual title is : "When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight And he'll win the whole thing before he enters the ring There's no body to batter when your mind is your might So when you go solo, you hold your own hand And remember that depth is the greatest of heights And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land And if you fall it won't matter, cuz you know that you're right" Now that's a long title!
