  1. True, also felt some Bon Iver inspiration here and there. His last albums is unbelievably good too.
  2. AROBTTH EL X&Y Parachutes VLVODAAHF MX GS AHFOD This would be mine for now, I really like what they've done with their experimental side on this new album. You can really hear something from every album they've ever made. A lot of Parachutes vibe acoustic songs. Plus the only real POP (Orphans) song on the album has real depth and layered meaning to it while remaining an upbeat song. Which is refreshing compared to Paradise, ETIAW, AOAL, POC and so on. EL Album favorites: Daddy, Trouble In Town, Orphans, Eko. Don't dislike anything on it.
  3. Me neither.. right in the feels.
  4. Old Friends actually sounds a lot like Ben Howard's guitar play.
  5. Eko could have been on Paul Simon’s Graceland :) lovely song.
  6. Agreed! It rocks
  7. Gave it a full listen just now. It is really good, they’ve certainly gone experimental here and there and for such a big band to deliver like this, respect! Never had this the first time listening to a song but with Daddy I shed a few tears, it’s so personal upfront and from a child’s viewpoint to his father. I love that one. The album has a Viva feel, but also the parachutes (livingroom) feel + a modern coldplay touch. So straight from the heart and personal. The ending of Trouble In Town is massive, nice AROBTTH feel to it. I have to hear the album more but it is up there with the best ones for me. don’t care where it slots in specifically but they have certainly given us something to enjoy for a very long time.
  8. Indeed. I for one like that they are using some of their thoughts on current world matters. It fits the time we’re living in that everyone tries to inspire positive change. Plus it makes for layered and inspired music like many greats before them have done. Good counterpart for some recent records on AHFOD that didnt make too much of an impression.
  9. Aah they keep on getting it right with these songs for EL. So happy.
  10. Right on! Feel the exact same way !!
  11. Everyday life has hints of Amsterdam. But with strings, If this continues EL might be their best yet for me. It matches the quality we got with the first few VLVADAAHF singles but slightly more personal as they share their views on this life.
  12. Agreed! Love the new song. Arabesque also reminded me a bit of Elbow in a way.
  13. Guys. I would love to go to the Jordan concert by all means and I get that people want to find out how to get tickets on the forum here. But maybe we are kind of missing the point. How great would it be if Coldplay got loads of people to the concert that haven’t got the money or possibility to go to a concert like this normally. We’ll get our tour here at some point. I hope that with this theme they’ve got for the albhm, they’ll go out and surprise people that normally wouldn’t have the chance to see bands like them. And then stream it to the rest of us so we can live it with them.
  14. Has somebody somehow extracted the emails from the middle part of the Orphan video? Would be really interesting and cool to read :)

  16. Was said in the BBC interview that this one is very emotional right? I expect this one to be a piano ballad, that talks about needing friends after being displaced. Talking about a person that still gives hope to someone after being displaced/traumatised.
  17. Im kinda hoping this one will be a Queen inspired tribute, following on Bohemian film-> Champion Of The World
  18. I’m hoping this song will be a tribute to Queen considering the title and the fact that the recent movie had so much positive impact. Champion Of The World We Are The Champions? maybe im taking this too far heheheh
  19. Agreed, he talked about making big church choir sounding music on the Coldplay records.
  20. What do you guys recon will be the release plan until album release? The've planned the first 2 songs to go 4 weeks before album release. I recon they might release 2 songs every thursday/friday. That would make 8 (double) single packages until release and half of the album(s). I think they might as nowadays the streaming landscape prefers more single releases before an actual album release, to boost artist streams (I work for a music label). But I'm hoping they'll just release one more song and then give us the full deal/experience on the 22nd, haha!
  21. exactly! Just learned about him now, his most recent album is a treat. Never heard of him before, should have heheh.
  22. So hyped about this album era, these first two song are so good. I was hyped when Violet Hill came along but this maybe even surpasses that. Love the lyrics and meaning for Orphan, just wow. That uplifting vibe and then the thought behind it. Looks like this might be their best album lyrically. Love that.
  23. Game day!! I'm guessing they drop a big collab today/tomorrow. Adele/Daft Punk? But hoping for some oldplay/vivaplay.
