  1. *Sigh* I'm a hypocritical f!!ker. Why? Well, many reasons. Let's keep to the relevant ones. I know that, by at least next may, I'm gonna have joined facebook to keep in touch with all my college friends on a regular bases. Txting/phoning is too expensive. See!!! At least I admit my hypocrisy. Oh, the shame......
  2. ^^ lol "social networking sites improving social skills" that i like!
  3. I do truly detest social networking sites. There's NOTHING "SOCIAL" ABOUT EM! You're sitting at home alone at the computer - or taking up a valuable one in college that other people, like me, need to access to print off documents for courses - "chatting" and practically anyone can see what you're saying. Its the death of privacy. Or of real social interaction. To my mind, they represent a viral infection. You have to have 100s of friends - with the exception of two or three dozen or so, you don't know any of the rest, they're just total strangers who you've "friended." The B.S. of it just astounds me. Those of us who don't like it are definitely in the minority, but, screw it, that tends to happen in history. Those sites scream, and the people who are ADDICTED to them, scream "Validate me, Validate me! If I don't "friend" I don't exist! Look at me! LOOK AT ME!!!" So sad. So, so sad. Well, f**k it, could be totally wrong, but that's my two cents.
  4. wow, thanx man :)
  5. @jc90 sorry, bein a latecomer and all, my head is still twirling!
  6. so...the links are where? :) edit: thanks for doin this :)
  7. ok thanxx!
  8. whoa. what in hell is goin on?
  9. @Twizted Logik - terrible, terrible thing to call an autobot. shameful :P @RICK8 - mutated leprecahauns? sounds like a good idea for a new marvel comic book Anyone else find it funny that as soon as an actual Irish person comes on the thread dies? What, did I kill the mystique??
  10. If I am, I'm one f*cking tall one, mate ;)
  11. You ladies and gentlemen seem to have some pretty odd ideas about us. In truth, the leprachaun population once roamed the mighty forests of the land free and wild. They were not too compatible with the European Celts who arrived c. 300 BC. The leprechaun population was ultimately forcing to share camping sites with the displaced immigrant Viking population. Today, sadly none remain, although with the recent harsh economic downturn many people are searching for their gold and are seeking to prove ancestory so as to claim the contents. Or, y'know, just nick it. If anyone has any other qs, feel free to ask. PS And I really don't see how this could be racist. We make a living out of taking the mick out of ourselves. Don't worry 'bout it. :)
  12. Hey, don't forget about THE DUBLINERS, they played that live a few times, then it disappeared. LRLRL was the perfect opportunity to release it, and it was only like 1:30mins so it would have come out under 42mins. Agh!!
  13. Yep, but worth it!;) And BUMP cos this thread deserves to be on Page 1:D
  14. Okay, UNFORTUNATELY Chris De Burgh (heh, almost typed "bilge") is Irish so, on behalf of all Irish Coldplay fans and, by extension, all those who love great music, I am empowered to say to De Burgh F*CK YOU! You're a lousy musician and no self-respecting Irish person would be caught dead with any of your so-called "songs" on an iPod or other MP3 player. There, rant (though necessary) over. :smug:
  15. "U2No1bandintheworld" - dude, when you say that, you can't just count people from all the old folks homes in the world. There's a great big world outside of 'em. Btw, "No Line..." has underperformed, selling a lot less copies in Oz and around the world than they hoped. They're no longer "No. 1" :) :P
  16. Didn't they film a gig in its entirety in the United Centre, Chicago last July? The Dubliners was previewed their. But I would think it more likely that they'd release a DVD set in one of the big stadium shows later this year as it would feature songs from Prospekt's March and the tour diary would include the whole tour. Maybe Wembley?
  17. You'd wanna get that checked out, bud :P @NOVAH - noticed your profile, very X&Y-y which drew my attention to the announcement that you are not a toaster, which as we all know is a derogatory racial slang for the Cylon race. Shame on you, ma'am!! :P
  18. ^ lol i don't know how in my long-assed rant i forgot to say they need a ballad! par: trouble rush: scientist x&y: fix you vlv: --- lp5: ? EDIT: btw i wish they'd play "i ran away" live at some point, its a great song and criminal to have been left off of rush of blood!!
  19. If Coldplay release LP5 this November (seems unlikely, what with extensive touring etc.) or morely likely sometime next year (June or November, best times) it will be the first year that Coldplay, as a major world-renowned band will come up against U2. I think it's very important for them to effectively have their "Joshua Tree" but that, like for U2, it marks another great evolutionary leap forward in sound for the band. Someone get Chris Martin to please for the love of Jesus to stop saying they're "copying" or "shit musicians" or "plagiarising" - c'mon, that's downplaying your own band, giving credence to your detractors and practically signalling the next Joe Satriani with a bullsh!t claim to strike. So, a change in attitude from the man at the top. I'm not talking Bono-level-egotism (!) but just a comfortable level of happiness with what they have managed to accomplish, which is a lot. In terms of the music, I'd love to hear Jonny Buckland let rip. If 10 tracks is going to be the standard for the next album, it'd be great to have either Track 1 or 10 an instrumental with a huge guitar solo from Jonny, one which really tears up your stereo system and makes you say, "F*CK ME! ROCKIN!!!!" Chinese Sleep Chant, 42 and Violet Hill all proved that Jonny can actually hit the guitar fairly hard, let's keep it coming. Greater use of different instruments like those used in Life in Technicolor, Viva La Vida, Strawberry Swing, etc. I'm not saying they should have another strident violectra and timpani-led masterpiece, but i'm sure Guy Hands would love to hear them say that! Famous Old Painters, with its brass band and Eno's jury-rigging Chris' piano to sound like all different instruments sounds phenomenal. Can't wait. Also, the folkiness of The Dubliners would make for a nice b-side. In terms of collaborations, I don't think we'll ever see one appear on an actual Coldplay album. An independent release, a la Lhuna, is more likely. Who they'd duet with? Don't know and frankly its a nice distraction, nothing more. Chris should definitely use his lower register as on Yes, which remains the most experimental and daring of all the tracks they did on VLV. Chris' lyrics, so good on LITii, VLV, S Swing, VH (with exception of one line), and Now My Feet... to name the best, should be refined. Hopefully, Eno is the man for the job. Some tracks to feature wild new instruments, maybe Middle Eastern in origin, whatever, something no one hear has ever heard a big band use before. Songs kept tight, with soaring melodies, offset by one or two quiet songs with just Chris and an acoustic guitar or piano to whisper over. One song that runs over 5 mins would be great so that we could really digest it, again keeping in mind that it doesn't feel bloated or lose itself, like U2's recent "Moment of Surrender" which starts off well and gets lost well before Edge comes in all Eric Clapton-like. Coldplay needs to up their game once more. Elbow now have a higher profile, The Killers are pushing their limits sonically, Kings of Leon have more than arrived, U2 are back, Arcade Fire and Green Day are both returning this year. Coldplay has the ability, the talent and the drive to supersede all of them with 10 tracks, a few "hidden" ones, to deliver LP5 as a corker of an album, one to silence the majority of detractors (some just love hating too much, can't be helped), one to gain even more new fans, and to make us all be able to hold our, and their, heads high and say, "This is why we love Coldplay, and this is why they are the best band in the world today. Period." No small order, but the guys are more than capable of it. Parachutes was a solid start, A Rush of Blood to the Head indicated their innate greatness and boded well for things to come, X & Y suffered from overproduction but had some great songs, Viva La Vida earned new fans and helped assuage fears after LP3, now LP5 has to take them to new heights, to round out their first full decade in the spotlight, and give them a chance to go away and dream everything up anew for LP6. Yes THEY can!!
  20. :shocked2: Sounds like a bet. And where will you be getting the tattoo, hmm? Somewhere visible for during the concert, naturally :P (I wish I had something funny to say but I'm all drained out by listening to the actual interview. Poor Jo Whiley, still though she put him in his place and kept things moving along nicely!) And ApproximatelyInfinite and iriden, thank you for putting up with my ways. Guess I'll have to become a "reformed character" - now where have I heard that recently...?:inquisitive:
  21. Hehe, i deliberately went straight to the thanks section just to see if they mention coldplay and the killers. no killers which was surprising
  22. *Bows* thank you kind sir, my sig simply tells the truth(iness) of the matter! And yeah, Bono prob thought he'd say it, get a big laugh, then say... "Gwyneth never told you what happened to your father" "She told me enough! She told me you...uh...uh..." "No! I AM YOUR FATHER!!" "NO!" "Search your heart! You know it to be true!" "No! It's impossible!" Or sumthin'
  23. HEY!! Okay, yeah, I do! It just sounds bloody brilliant...obviously just what they've said about it...brass band, piano making all kinds of noises and stuff...just...whoah
  24. Viva is Unforgettable Fire! Chris admitted that. LP5 = Joshua Tree. And will be awesome. Methinks that's why they kept Famous Old Painters! Hey, a man can dream. It was such a hyped song, it has to be released
