  1. I saw Chairlift and The xx last week, they were absolutely amazing. I'm seeing Metric on nov. 22nd for the third time
  2. ahhh it is quite difficult to learn Arabic.. you have to change the way you create sentences to the Arabic way and it can be tough haha but thank you
  3. I had the same reaction reading the reply to your review. 'Eddie liked a Muse song, he is gonna want to shoot himself in the face'. D:
  4. bump
  5. ahh I missed the part about why I study it! well I speak 4 other languages (including my native one, French) and I wanted something different than what I'm used to (it worked haha). I also am majoring in International Relations and the arab world comes up a lot in the news lately, so I thought it could be useful.
  6. Wow I had to help myself with google translate there, I am not that proficient in Arabic yet haha. Ooooo that's great. My teacher likes to point out differences in how different countries speak Arabic, and it's always interesting to notice the differences  And I know of an intelligent keyboard online but I was too lazy to use it haha.
  7. It's okay, Chris, we have a different taste in music in general. It isn't my favourite song of his, maybe you wouldn't think he is a douchebag had the song been different. OH WELL.
  8. they teach Arabic in high schools over there? :surprised:
  9. awwww yissssss :bliss:
  10. What, really? How did you come across them, then? Because Twilight was the reasn I heard of them :surprised:
  11. Yeah me too, heh. These two have pretty similar taste in music.
  12. Woah, I don't know many people who actually listen to Cider Sky, apart from that song on Twilight. Great stuff, eh?
  13. Naham, ana كندية. (yes, I copied and pasted haha) I've been learning Arabic for a year now, standard arabic though. Which country are you from?
  14. omfg I had the same thought about Rudy.
  15. Ahhh I knew it! I do recognize some artists you've used before, like Max Richter, but I don't mind one bit, it was fantastic! I'm sorry you had to make one for me again haha, but I sure was happy to get one from you! And I have no idea how I didn't recognize Other Lives, sigh. Thanks again, beautiful  I have no idea, but I am not complaining
  16. Salam wa haleikoum! Ana Marie wa adrosso alharabiya fii aljamihat. (god I hope I wrote that right, it's hard without the arabic letters)
  17. OKAY REVIEW TIME This mixtape was separated in three sections, A, B, and C. I tried to find out why they were separated this way, and at first I thought it was because A was more ambient and the other parts were other genres, but there were ambient songs in the other parts so I am really sorry, mixtape maker, if I couldn't figure it out :/ A-01 Great starter, very calm and slow, yet it has some sense of beginning, like something is about to start. I'd listen to that at sunset and it would have this perfect feeling. A+. A-02 This one is a little bit electronic with the vocals and the electronic percussions. Very calm as well, very ambient. Not bad. A-03 This one I enjoyed a lot. Starts slow with a lovely piano and then more instruments join in. I don't have any other words but beautiful to describe this track, very joyful. The closing with the vocals is beautiful as well. I feel like I've heard this voice before, but I might be wrong. A-04 Electronic sounds from the start, and then more instruments join in, I feel like it's a marimba? Nice tune, instrumental, I like. A-05 Ahh one of my favourites of the tape. I love the voice and the soft guitars in the back. I've never heard. Reminds me a bit of The Shins, but much more subtle and calm. A-06 Ahh this one has much more rhythm with distorted synths. Lovely female voice, I also feel like I have heard that voice before. American Soldiers comes up often in the lyrics, could that be the title? Very nice. A-07 Back to a much calmer ambience. This is beautiful, I feel like I could listen to this alone on a beach and watch the waves and it would be very relaxing. A-08 Lovely track with the female voice and the piano. And then the strings join in midway, it is absolutely breath taking. One of my favourites of the tape. B-09 Ooo electronic ambient song. Many variations throughout the song, yet it follows the same uhmmmm theme (?) as the little bit at the beginning. Not my favourite but it isn't bad. B-10 I can't figure out what efect there is on the vocals but it fits the song perfectly. I like it a lot. It's calm, nonchalant with the xylophone and the guitar. B-11 Ooooh not an ambient song? Much more rock-ish with the electric guitars and the female voice. Unique on this tape, I like it a lot. Feels familiar. The chorus is great. B-12 This tune starts with an organ bit and then other electronic sounds join in as well as the vocals. God I love it. It's awesome, possibly my favourite. B-13 Another electronic ambient track with distorted synths. It is calm and repetitive, it isn't bad but not my favourite. B-14 Very calm with piano and the strings, and electronic sounds added. Nice effect on the voice. It's good. C-15 Ooo starts with vocals only, damn that woman's got quite the voice and the vocal abilities. And then she is joined by other female singers. It's interesting! Very nice! C-16 Oooooo strings. What a joyful tune! It is absolutely beautiful, I would love to see it being performed by an orchestra. Wow. C-17 There is a crowd chanting something at the beginning but I can't quite figure out what they are saying. Then the music starts and wow, it is lovely. The classical guitar fits so great with the vocals. Nice one. C-18 Piano track with wood xylophones, I think? It's calm and relaxing. It doesn't stand out but it does announce the end of the tape efficiently. C-19 This track is intersesting. There is a man talking about a place where he remembers being or going, a very peaceful place of his, set with a background of calm music, very peaceful. Nice closing track, partner. Overall, I enjoyed the tape, it was fairly calm, relaxing and ambient, and even if I thought it was a little too calm at first, I thought it was a masterpiece after the third listen. Congratulations to you, partner. Favourites were track # A--03, A-04, A-05, A-06, A-8, B-11, B-12, C-16, C-17. Okay so there is only one guy on this board that I know would make such a tape for I've had him as a mixtape maker two times before. If I am wrong in my guessing, I am sorry, partner! But you should talk to the guy in the spoiler, you two would have a lot to talk about, music-wise. :P
  18. Risky :anxious:
  19. SO ABOUT THE STARBUCKS DISCOUNT
  20. I shall post my review tomorrow, partner!
  21. I think we can be sure that it's a first that no reviews were posted the day after they were sent. Woah.
  22. Uhmm. I think it can be pretty bad. I wasn't close to the epicentre of Irene, yet my 1400 people town got over a billion dollars worth of damage, and we are still rebuilding parts of some roads that were destroyed. Idk where you live, but Irene hit pretty hard last year.
  23. I hope all the members from the East coast are in a place where they will be safe and I hope no harm will be done to them and their families. I love you bbs
