  1. this is just a fun fun song, Coldplay's Mysterious Ways in more ways than one
  2. this It's also interesting to read that Prospekt is a character made up by Chris Martin, because then Prospekt's March the EP could very well be the story of a soldier, Coldplay's concept album/EP if you like. Side note: love this EP, easily the best thing Coldplay's done imho, has the ease/casual sound of parachutes and the lack of 'tryhardness' which ruined parts of viva la vida and x&y but the solid production values and maturity gained from those albums. Looking forward to next album!
  3. The acoustic version of Lovers in Japan is in my opinion the best song on the album, it's even surpassed Viva La Vida for me. I absolutely love how it takes the rhythm of Sleeping Sun and the general feeling of Til Kingdom Come (which is my fav Coldplay song of all time in case you are wondering). Chris's voice on this version is tops as well, I like it much more than the album version where he seems to be running out of breath or straining for high notes which aren't necessarily needed, as the acoustic version shows. Perhaps it's just me, but I find that removing the album version of Lovers in Japan / Reign of Love and having the acoustic version in its stead works really well in that it's not overly loud/too fast paced like the rest of the album and acts as the 'heart' of the album as I think the band intended Reign of Love to be. This is no slight on Reign of Love, but the acoustic version is Coldplay doing what Coldplay does best, making MUCH more with MUCH less.
  4. Yep, it sounds rather overproduced after a few listens, I have to say I'm not won over by it. The acoustic version is good and the solo fits the piano better than the guitar imho. The acoustic vs album argument I feel also applies to Lovers in Japan. I really rate the acoustic version, as many people have said it's like a synthesis of See You Soon/Sleeping Sun/Til Kingdom Come, which are some of my favourites. The album version seems really busy and at times, messy. I would also say Chris's vocals on it aren't as refined as the acoustic version, but that's probably just me.
