  1. Listen to the full Viva La Vida album here now!! I dunno if it's been posted much already, but if not, for those who haven't heard the leak, here's the official, legit myspace containing the whole album :D http://www.myspace.com/387267497

Sorry to anyone who doesn't see it, but 42 reminds me of Radiohead so much as well; not even the structure, just the similar raw guitar sound and style in the beginning which is apparent in many Radiohead songs, the dark piano intro reminiscent of 'We Suck Young Blood', there are quite a few similarities, the funky bass somewhat on the lines of 'Jigsaw Falling Out Of Place'... It's not a bad thing, its just a funny quirk, I think :>
  3. Well that link was shot down fast! :stunned:
  4. Possibly the most beautiful part of the album! I still don't quite understand the lyrics, but hopefully they'll all make sense to me in the end :)
  5. On top of the modern-day applications, as with nearly all of the songs, I think the song has a strong historical romance about it. The idea of 'Violet Hill' itself makes me think of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, with 'Sad Hill', a hillside of graves. I had a poke about, looking for the symbology of the violet, and found this - Whether intentional or not, it has a nice French revolution air to it :) I'll see what else I can find [Edit] I found some more! So according to these two origins, violets are a "symbol of mourning and of affection for the dead", and we have a nice fine art painting reference at the end to accompany it :>
