Champions League final will take place at Wembley on May 28, 2011. So if anything they would have limited time for preparations.

Indeed. Hate this jackets, they looked like clowns from circus. I think they don't want tell us nothing about album because they don't want associate it with upcoming summer gigs. They could reveal title, but what the point if you wouldn't play nothing new. Perhaps they don't want confused fans more. I think they aren't going to release something new except 1-2 songs, which could be actually b-sides from LP5.

This is a good theory, but only if band would have told - we will promote our new XXXX album at this festivals. Expect surprises. See you there. Feel the difference? What about the possibility they've confirmed festivals gigs ant then pushed release back? What about gigs in October - 4 month and 20 show for 1-2 new songs? Weird, isn't it?

How the hell no one asked Oracle again would we hear something f*cking new at festivals? :)

Well that's why I'm confused with band strategy. One ad in prime time or show will see more people than all June festivals crowd combined. :shrug: Public must be aware something coming. If you release genius album and no one knows about it you won't earn much.

That's not the way how it works. They need time for creating buzz -> then touring. If you would catch new single on TV and like it - perhaps you would go to festival. Releasing new song(s) in this way, in front of random crowd, could have negative reaction - for example people won't like it either it sucks or sucks quality on youtube or live versions sucks, and this people won't buy album. But alright, there is no point to argue. In 2 weeks we will know something for sure.

BTW I don't know how is mixing going in music business. Is it possible that one person works on two albums simultaneously? In movie business it's impossible, but I don't know about music.

I think you never worked in AD business. Single could be present today by web, easily. But the point is promotion. That means shitload of interview, radio appearances, live show, etc all over the world, or at least in major markets like USA, UK, West Europe. People need to be aware, new Coldplay songs is coming. Not only fans, but other people too. For proper presentation they need at least month. And be sure something would definitely leak, because this sort of things arranged long time before. Coldplay isn't some small independent band. EMI suffers and needs money, be sure owners will squeeze every cent from biggest and popular band in the world.

Single should be announced at least a month before release and couple of month before album release. We have 2 weeks before first festival and band is working hard to be ready. There are simply no room for single, sorry guys. We are fans and hope for better but we shouldn't be delusional. Oracle told us no new material at festivals. We heard nothing about album. If the single would come we definitely will hear something, because it's impossible to prevent this sort of news from leaking. I prepare for worst. Band will return to studio in August-September, single in October, album closer to NY.

Still I'm not convinced. I don't understand how it works - keep it at secret. The sooner we would get info, the sooner buzz will start. At least songs name, title and date of release wouldn't spoil anything. But it could be another reason for secrecy - EP sucks and they don't want negative buzz before the fence and still trying to figure out what songs should be included/recorded etc.

Personally I found the way of releasing/promotion LP5 highly confusing. Because we know album has name and biggest part has been already recorded. So why in this case they can't give us some info? Perhaps Martin is waiting until the last moment for some genius sparkle, I don't know. But I know exactly that lack of news is pissing me off. Thats why I think they have some problems with songs/sound/etc.

I think they still don't have the complete album and still in the process of formation/sound recording. And that's have a bad vibe. Uncertainty.

Waiting is not a problem. Problem is uncertainty. Tell us exactly when it would be released. Give us title, songs, a single, tour dates. If it would be next year I wouldn't mind, but just tell us. I can't see any reason for such conspiracy.

I don't know about others but I found this news vacuum about LP5 release highly frustrating. And moreover I can't see any reason why they should hide it. I can't plan my trip to gigs because I don't know where and when it would be. So if I would plan trip at Autumn today I will miss tour.
